And again so cute.  57 miles from Calabassas to Disneyland in an hour???  You've never been down here have you?   Not that the traffic is great up there but I did get a ticket for doing 85 in a 65 (after hitting my brakes while doing 90) at 5pm on a FRIDAY on the 101 just north of SFO.

And seeing I've lived in both SoCal and NorCal the Northerners win the annoying trophy...by far. ;)

    here it is again ...

Calabasas?  An hour from Disneyland?  Bwahahaha. You NorCal people are so cute. It takes an hour to get to Disneyland from the Anaheim exit off the 5 freeway.  ?

You can afford a copter you take a copter.

You SoCal people are so annoying .... when I typed that, I used Google Maps and that's the time that it spit out. 57 miles, just over an hour.

I'm trying to get over the idea of taking a helicopter to a kid's basketball practice.

Tell me about it ... My wife was joking that one of the Kardashians or Jenner's took their newborn to their first Disneyland trip the other day. There was a photo of the kid on a plane. They live in Calabasas, an hour or so from Disneyland. Why do you need a plane for that trip? Or in this case...helicopter.

  4. Got roped into going to a friends house tonight to meet up w/ family. Not really looking forward to it, but it is what it is. Soccer Mom community where everyone thinks it's cool to drink, party and whoop it up (even though they're in their 40's, they act like 21 yr olds). To make this night even better, I know I'll be stuck as the DD...so I get watch this nightmare unfold...sober. Yay me!!

  5. I used to work for our local sheriff's department. It's gotten me out of a handful of tickets. The one of the most recent occurred a couple years back, while driving my daughters car from California to NY so she could have it at college. I'm in the middle of Wyoming, driving on 80. I come over a hill and see someone standing in the middle of the road, over a 1/4 mile ahead. As I get closer, I see it's a state trooper and he's motioning me toward the side of the road, where two other cars are pulled over (yes, I was speeding). I pull over, he finishes up w/ one of the cars and walks over to me. I pull out my ID, have my sheriff's ID underneath so he sees it. He asks me where I work, I tell him the county. Come to find out, he was from the same area in CA. Started his career in the city south of mine. He was the cousin of someone I used to work with at the department. Small world. After some idle chit chat, he let me go. I'll never forget that one.

Last one was this past summer in Tonawanda. I was driving toward my daughters house in Elmwood Village. My rental had Louisiana plates on it (I'm sure a target). I had my cell phone on speaker, while talking to my wife / other daughter back home. I couldn't hear what they were saying, so I briefly brought the phone up slightly closer to me. Sirens and lights go up. Stupid move on my part, but oh well. Cop is an *ss, asking why I'm in the area and not in Louisiana. After explaining my situation I hand him my license, didn't really want to deal w/ the sheriff's ID thing w/ him but it fell out of the wallet and onto my lap as I was pulling out my license. If he saw it, he didn't mention it...he just quickly ran off w/ my license and rental agreement. He came back even more PO'd. He threw my items back and me and told me I was free to go as he walked away. Still an *ass, but I guess it worked again. My wife bought me a new wallet, so I'm not sure I can pull that trick again.

If anything, this is the game where Gore plays and gets plenty of carries to rack up the stats.

I'm not sure that's possible anymore. His last 23 carries, 31 yards. Of course many of those carries were at the goal line (where he isn't good) and running out the clock (stuffed at the line and falling down). I'd like to see more Yeldon myself, but Gore has earned his status.

  7. Here's the Smerlas book mentioned above...I think it came out just after he signed w/ the 49ers. I was going to college in Sacramento at the time, where the 49ers had their training camp outside of town. Tried to get him to sign my copy, but they never let the players anywhere near the fans. Oh well...

  8. We use AirBnB all the time. Especiallly whenever we head down to SoCal or go back to Buffalo. I love the convenience and not having to get 2 or 3 hotel rooms at an exorbitant amount of cash. We used to be exclusively VRBO, but prices (lower) and choices seemed to lean more and more toward AirBnB. I was leery at first, hearing all the horror stories. But once we dipped our feet into the water, we found it was a great service. In fact, it's now my preferred choice over hotels when traveling.

I prefer nicer furnishings, but it doesn't matter...as long as everything you need is there and isn't broken down (and the bed is comfortable). It's weird when it looks like the owner actually lives there and just stepped out while you're renting. VRBO had AirBnB beat in that regard, homes were mainly vacation rentals...not homes that seemed lived in.

Anyway, getting a 2nd home somewhere else is on my list of things to do too. It wouldn't be a full time home, so we'd probably have to rent it out for short term while we're not there. So I too am interested in the whole AirBnB renting thing. I know many communities are starting to crack down on vacation rentals or limiting their services (ie .. where the owner would actually have to be staying in the house as well...that's a huge deterrent to me).

Wait just a goshdurn minute here. This is all wrong. Cynthia Froeundlinedijrr says the Bills only have like a .00007% chance to make the playoffs. And her mathematical process is INFALLIBLE, people! She is a friggin' genius, obviously.

I kid. Last time I saw one of her playoff prediction bullsh*t things she had the Chargers with like a 10% better chance of making the playoffs than the Bills. It's mind-boggling on an astronomical level why anyone would pay her for the drivel she comes up with. I probably feel that way about most of these yappidy-yapping toolbags. Dont bother to turn on the TV until 1 PM and sometimes can't even listen to the commentary. All of 'em have an agenda and part of that agenda likely states, "Do all you can to discredit the Bills. They're a small market team and really, who cares that they're 9-3? Dedicate tons of time to talking about how all their victories came over inferior opponents and don't forget to make endless excuses for why Dallas let the Bills win." I just want all of them to feast on a fat turd sammich.

A few weeks back, she predicted the Bills would finish with 9 wins, having a 42% chance of making the playoffs (Texans were also 9 wins, 50% and wild card team #1)...but the kicker, she had the Jaguars winning 8 games but a higher percentage and projected wild card team #2. I didn't understand how that happened. Bills projected at 9 wins, Jags 8...but the Jags getting the wild card. She's a farce.

  10. Once, but do your high school years count?

Mid-80's, working at a fast food restaurant, something to do w/ a King...burnt orange uniform years. Great place to work. There was me, the only other high school guy and several girls from the local Catholic high school. There was a manager, who kept trying to get the girls to go to the hotel next door w/ him. He always used the line, "I have a Twister game in my car." It was annoyingly disgusting. I started dating one of the girls. I showed up on an off day to pick up my GF after her shift. She told me he tried to get her to go next door to the hotel. I lost it. We had it out (yelling/shouting) right there in the restaurant. He kicked me out. I walked out, immediately drove into the drive thru and when they asked for my order...I yelled, so and so was a pedophile. I guess loud enough for the back end to hear, and possibly the customers that were eating over the speaker. As I pulled around, I was told I was fired.

It actually worked out great. A manager that I respected, was fired too a week before me, moved to another BK across town. He got me a job there, where I met my future wife.  33 years later, we're still together. The other girl I had been dating was just looking to get knocked up. I escaped that one!! She did end up being a high school / teenage mom by her next BF. Someone was looking out for me there....

I was toying with MIA and WAS.

I'd pick Miami but I went with the Cowboys over JETS

?...I am toying too w/ WAS v MIA. I already used DAL in my every team vs MIA theory. So I have no easy option this week. Besides BAL(used)/CIN, NE(used)/NYG and DAL(used)/NYJ....from the early onset, every other game appears to be a toss-up where comparable teams are playing each other.

California certainly is the breadbasket of the country but food is grown and raised nearly everywhere throughout the USA. You should label your chart.

Here's the link if you care  ... https://data.ers.usda.gov/reports.aspx?ID=17844

"California is the world’s 5th largest supplier of food, cotton fiber, and other agricultural commodities. In the U.S., California is the largest producer of food despite having less than 4% of the farms in the country."

You have a point right up until the Delta Smelt start to get endangered, then no water for the Valley.

It's a fact, not a point. California outproduces every other state by a mile....even w/ those claiming to have no water. California is full of ingenuity and farmers are adapting to periods of less water. We've had drought and survived. Farmers are like Bills fans, they love to complain.

The Steelers are always a dangerous team but that game later in the season is looking a lot less scary

I hope so. On one hand, Rudolph will have several games under his belt and may be hitting is stride toward the end of the season. On the other, he may be a typical "rookie" (in that this is his first real NFL game time and will have his struggles) and the Steelers may be playing for a draft pick at that point. Either way, that must win game against the Steelers back ups where we took a L will always haunt me.
