  1. I've stayed at the Courtyard/Canalside previously and I'll be staying again during Easter. Great hotel, plus convenience factor to First Niagara is a plus. Large rooms, set up perfectly. Nicest Courtyard I've stayed in. I don't need the free breakfast\, I like to sample the local restaurants.
  2. It didn't help he was a #'s nerd and couldn't simply get his point across. Don't know if he was portrayed on TV correctly, but came across as someone who had a mental deficiency (the way he kept calling and rambling). Very good first night. Looking forward to tonight's episode.
  3. Just saw a Rodak tweet, "Remember the Bills' new stadium working group? An Erie County spokesperson said today group hasn't met since '14, has no scheduled meetings"
  4. When New Orleans cuts Byrd, I think we should bring him back to Buffalo
  5. Just stopped there via cruise, 7 day on NCL. Stayed in Barcelona though. Probably my most disliked stop, not sure why though. Too much history, so little time? Too big compared to the other stops? It's the one day it rained on us?
  6. Talent is God given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful.--- John Wooden
  7. Born in '68 A's - '89 Warriors - '15 (lived in Buffalo for previous early 70's championships for A's/Warriors, no recollection) UCLA BB - '95 Still awaiting Bills & Sabres. Bills SB championship would easily top all of the above, although Warriors championship last year was pretty sweet.
  8. Apparently you don't live here....we have some ruthless squirrels that run into classrooms, bite children, attack people on the streets. Our varmints don't mess around. In all honesty though, I believe these squirrels migrated over from Oakland. They're part of a gang of squirrels attempting to control the nut trade in the area. I just hope they don't make it up here to Sonoma County, Marin is just below us....seems like just a matter of time. Might be time to move.
  9. NFL: Bills MLB: A's NBA: GS Warriors NHL: Sabres NCAA: UCLA / St John Fisher Volleyball (daughter plays 4 them )
  10. Grew up in WNY hearing everyone say "pop" ... don't think I ever said that in my lifetime. For me it's "Coke" ... even if it's Pepsi / RC
  11. We fly home Dyngus Day...maybe I can arrange to be there. I did think about staying the extra day. My parents grew up on the East Side, I spent some time there growing up as a kid (attended Corpus Christi). Gotta think about that one. It would be a great experience though. I was seriously thinking about Ellicottville. I was checking out the slopes, tube run, etc...then I realized. I won't have my snow gear w/ me. No way in hell am I adding that to the luggage to fly across country. Do they have rental gear? I'm sure they do.
  12. Thanks for the replies. I definitely want to hit Letchworth before my daughter is done w/ college (she's my ticket back to the area a few times a year, I'm secretly hoping she stays back there). I'm taking my 70'ish parents w/ me this time around, so I'm not sure this would be the right time to go. They're from Buffalo and we'll have to spend a couple days there to visit w/ family and friends, especially on Easter. Ellicottville looks intriguing. Snow is now a novelty for me and the family, so hanging out there could be nice. You guys had me at beer. I live in wine country, but we have so many micro-breweries here...I'm in beer heaven amongst the vineyards. I've sampled a few during my last few visits to WNY, quite a few good options. Nanker, thanks for the list. Those slow days I'm hanging out in ROC looking for something to do, it'll come in handy. I've been wanting to get to the Eastman House for a while, also the theater. Love Dinosaur!
  13. My wife sprung this on me the other day, telling me she wants to visit our daughter during her Easter break (end of March). She goes to college in Rochester and since I'm always looking for a chance to go back "home," I jumped on the idea and said "YES!!" Now I'm looking at a way to fill up my week and keep everyone happy. Nothing on my agenda except trying to catch the Sabres/Jets game the day before Easter. Other than that, I'm trying to think of something to do. The end of March is still pretty iffy regarding the weather. Last Thanksgiving we spent a few days in Toronto, not sure if I want to go there again. Don't think I can kill a week in/around Buffalo or Rochester....again. We'll probably come to Buffalo for the game and Easter Sunday. Other than that, I'm looking for something different. I was thinking of the Falls for a couple days, but we've also done that (many times, except some of the family hasn't seen the falls during winter...if they'll still be frozen then). Anywhere off the beaten path that might be cool? Resorts? Finger Lakes? I'm pretty much a blank slate at this time. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Open to going into Canada, east of Rochester, N of Syracuse, South of BLo/Roc...I'm just stumped at this point.
  14. This is a tough one. Last week I was on a plane coming home from WNY. This week I wasn't on a plane. That'd be hard to replicate each and every week. I did go in for overtime (on my day off). I caught the Bills first TD, then left for work. It's gotta be the fact I went to work for greedy purposes...overtime. Dang 7 deadly sins...greed got the Bills.
  15. Maybe it's a ploy. Cut Brown (compensate very well), hope the Pats pick him up to pick his brain for this weeks game. Pats fall for the bait, he gives them the wrong playbook. Pats think they're getting over on the Bills again, Bills win in rout! Bryce is cut next week, Bills re-sign him. Seriously though. Why cut anyone before the Pats game? We know they'll make a push to sign him. ***SIGH***
  16. Update...Verizon pi$$ed me off. When we updated to the new plan..we were told we'd be able to upgrade 3 of our 4 phones. Go to the Verizon store today, nope...only mine is able to be upgraded. It was a mistake on their part they told us we'd be able to upgrade the other phones. After we go round n round w/ Verizon, I am now w/ T-Mobile (which is fine here in my area) and I hijacked one of my daughters to go w/ me. Rochester daughter will have to wait...we're visiting this week and I'll see how the service is in that area. If poor, she'll stay on Verizon. No big deal for her. ** SIGH **
  17. How about we make sure Shady, Karlos , Boobie and the gang are 100% before we do anything like that?
  18. Stuck w/ Verizon. Went w/ the 12GB / Shared for $80 (actually something like $160 w/ 4 lines). We'll see how that works out. No T-Mobile for us, this time around. Thanks!
  19. Lets get this straight, I don't want Tebow on the Bills, but there is a guy that lives down the street from me Apparently he LOVES Tebow. He changes his license plate to Tebow (name the location) whenever he lands on a new team. He had FL, Denver, but it has stalled on TebowNY for a while now (and it's rather embarrassing at this point). I'd love to see how he would incorporate Buffalo into the Tebow mix.
  20. Carpenter isn't "his guy"...not a Jet fan, but did Rex outwardly complain like this when Folk only hit 82% (32/39) last season? Or 78% (21/27) a couple seasons back? Heck, Folk an 80% career kicker. Carp has a week to figure out his swing, but I'm not sure why Rex is on his back side because he seems to have given Folk A LOT of slack during his tenure in NY.
  21. I like the appeal of keeping what I have (Verizon). Like i said, T-Mobile has stepped up their game here in Northern Calif, but apparently in WNY they still pretty much suck...which is a major disappointment, because we would have saved quite a bit switching to them. I'll have to sit down and crunch the #'s to see what will work best. I see there are T-Mobile stores littered throughout WNY...someone has to be using their service. I guess the silence speaks volumes. My beloved NY'er might put a kink into my plans of moving us all over. Oh well. Thanks!
  22. Thanks. I'll have to check this out. Usually when Vzw comes out w/ some new plan, it still ends up being more. We'll see if this one is any better.
  23. I'm a beer / cider drinker. Don't particularly care for wine much at all. I know WNY has the Finger Lakes wine region, so there are probably wineries that put on tasting / showcase events. I went to one here in our area (Sonoma County). Some friends of friends own a winery and they were previewing the upcoming wines. They had upward of 20 wines to sample. Not knowing what I liked, I sipped away until I found something that seemed palatable. It'd probably be a fun day too. i still won't drink wine though. Not my thing. My wife likes the beers you have to drop an orange in (Belgian Whites...Blue Moon, Shock Top, etc..). That's all she drinks nowadays, but if there is an allergy...this might be an issue. As for ciders? My wife hates them, but on a real hot day...nothing beats a cold cider. Then again, it's personal preference...regarding sweet, dry, bitter.Luckily there are many to try. We have a beer/wine place here that lets you mix and match to try out different beers/ciders. Maybe you can find something like that so you're not wasting $$$ on a case you may not like.
  24. Dang, I shook the hand of an "alleged" murder...
