Looking at the 2009 NFL Draft
Leonidas replied to WVUFootball29's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why "sorry Bills fans"?? In what universe were we taking Malcom Jenkins with our first pick?? -
I like Johnson a lot. I'm not sold on Hardy, but it's way to early to write him off. Cinci overpaid for Coles; I'm glad we didn't. Let's offer a 6th round pick for Torry Holt conditional on re-working his contract to a three-year deal worth UNDER $20M.

Please someone delete this thread...
-
He's right. You can't spend $6M/year on a nickelback, not with the salary cap. Why do you think NE let Randall Gay go to NO??
-
Are you on drugs?? We need a DE first! Then a TE.
-
In all honesty you could do the same thing with any team and make the same point. The scrubs you bring in and try out and ultimately release don't make or break the team. If you get consistent production from your starters and immediate backups (i.e. nickelbacks) then you're doing alright. I think Buffalo is on the right path here, and I certainly wasn't saying that at this time last year or the year before, or the year before that...

Back to the point of the thread... I don't want Boldin here. He's overrated and slow (well, not slow, but certainly not fast). That's not to say he's not a real good WR, but he's no Fitzgerald and looked better playing with him. But that's not even the point - they guy is a crybaby with Drew Rosenhaus as his agent. Year in and year out he bitches about his contract, and if it gets re-worked, he waits a year and bitches to be traded. I don't want a mini-TO like that on my team. He's really good, but he's not a top five WR in this league, and if you're going to be a prima donna then you better have the talent to go with it. Now if Braylon Edwards were available on the other hand...

TO doesn't want to come to Buffalo, OBD doesn't want TO. Plain and simple. He's still a very good WR, but at this point in his career it doesn't make up for the giant headcase he still is. I like rooting for the guys on my team, and I can't root for TO. Keep him out of Orchard Park. He will sign with one of these teams, starting with the most likely: Washington NYG (if Plax doesn't come back for whatever reason) NYJ Oakland I can't imagine him signing anywhere else.

Enough FA Stuff: CJPEARL2's Mock Draft V.1
Leonidas replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think I'm going to do a mock draft too. Maybe Stafford in the first round, Orakpo in the second, Crabtree in the third, Raji in the fourth. In the fifth we'll have to decide between Sanchez and Pettigrew. Tough choices. -
Another board says Coles signed by Bills
Leonidas replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think the Bills should pull the offer now. Play hardball. Now it's 3 years/$16M. Every day it goes down $500,000. Or something to that effect - don't let him use our offer as leverage. Again, it's not our fault he turned down $6M in guaranteed money. -
Why Coles? Becuase the Bills can't draft WR's
Leonidas replied to VJ91's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Name the last time NE played a WR they drafted. Troy Brown? It isn't as easy as you think. Every team has bust WR's. NE had Chad Jackson. Denver had Ashley Lelie. Detroit had Charles Rogers AND Mike Williams. NYG has (had?) Sinorice Moss. Arizona had Bryant Johnson (ha). The Jaguars had Reggie Williams AND Matt Jones. It happens to everybody. -
Getting suspicious based on FA visits...
Leonidas replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
RB's get killed during the season. I hope Lynch doesn't go anywhere and we just use a rotation - that's what a lot of teams (i.e. NYG, NE) are going to these days anyway. Kevin Jones would make a good #3 (better than Shaud Williams) and wouldn't have the right to B word about his lack of carries. Same went for Fred Taylor, although I think DeShaun Foster might be a different story. And can we stop the Cutler talk? Denver was stupid enough to shop him for Cassell, they aren't about to let him go for Marshawn Lynch, or anyone else for that matter. -
You're on drugs (or you should be). He was a return specialist, nothing more, nothing less. A quicker Roscoe Parrish.

ewwww....

Since the "consensus" right now seems to be Maybin
Leonidas replied to Coach Tuesday's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Plain and simple, Maybin will be a bust at DE. Take Orakpo or E. Brown if they are available (trading up a few spots wouldn't bother me), or else take the best available - trading down is an option too. Don't take any other DE, TE, or C at #11 (we shouldn't be drafting any other position #1 anyway, unless Crabtree falls to us of course) besides E. Brown or Orakpo, regardless of where they're projected to go. Remember: Chris Kelsay was a projected first rounder too. -
Another board says Coles signed by Bills
Leonidas replied to DIE HARD 1967's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Coles will sign. He was stupid to walk away from $6M guaranteed in the first place, he won't do it again. I'm upset Buffalo even offered him that much; he isn't worth it. Catch 70 balls for 1,000 yards and 10 TD's and prove me wrong, Laveranues. -

Leonidas replied to WVUFootball29's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybin screams huge bust. I wanted them to take Orakpo but it doesn't look like he'll be available. DE is still top priority and Maybin isn't a DE; he's an OLB. Pass on him altogether. If you don't trade up for Orakpo, then take Everette Brown if he's available; if he's not, trade out of the pick. Don't reach for Maybin OR Pettigrew (or any other TE for that matter). I also think Lawrence Sidbury, Jr. would be a good late-round pick as a pass rushing specialist. -
Tony Scheffler Is On The Trade Block!
Leonidas replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, this would be a great pickup, but don't overpay. Remember a few years back when the Jets gave up a 1st round pick for Doug Jolley? Yeah, that's overpaying. I'd say no more than a third rounder, or a fourth and a fifth. -
What's with all the MLB's coming in?? Don't we need an OLB to replace Crowell?? Don't tell me we're going into another season of Keith Ellison as our starting WLB...

LB Mike Peterson in Buffalo at weeks end
Leonidas replied to seq004's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If he can't play the outside - and he doesn't want to be a backup - then what's the point anyway? Poz is the starter, end of discussion. -
For all of you who want Jason Peters RESIGNED
Leonidas replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you think Peters deserved the Pro Bowl bid this past year you're a) an idiot, and/or b) didn't watch any games this season. He was awful. He watched people go by him, and those blaming it on Dockery's poor play since his release are just fools. Do you remember when Ruben Brown was voted in years after he was any good?? It happens all the time with linemen. You're a complete joke. That being said, I do think he deserves to be paid more than he is actually being paid. But not $11-12M/year. Joe Thomas got an absurd contract because he was the #3 overall pick. Peters is no Orlando Pace, I'm sorry. Pace almost won the Heisman at left tackle. And I think Matt Light was the better tackle last year, although I think Peters deserves what Light makes and then some. But "some" isn't an extra $6M/year. -
WHY ARE THE BILLS SO DAMN CHEAP!!!

I agree with this guy. -

Leonidas replied to mmassett228's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Seriously, people need to calm down. Who have we missed out on? Haynesworth? Houshmandzadeh? Jon Kitna? Get serious, people. The Bills are doing some good things now, even if they aren't sexy. People complained last year when we didn't sign Bryant Johnson because we were "cheap." Where's he now? He flaked out of SF and signed an extremely meager 9 year/$3M deal with...the Lions. I think the FO realizes the positions of need and is filling them the best they can until draft day. Ever think we may not need a guy like Coles, especially at what he's asking? Same goes for Fred Taylor (although I would have loved to have him as our 3rd RB).
