Pro Bowl's are more or less irrelevant. Roy Williams is terrible. He should put on ten lbs. and pull a 'Coy Wire' and move to WLB.
-
They should have addressed it, yes, but not by another pick. Look, Peters has handled this thing all wrong. Apparently he hadn't even been in contact with Buffalo and just expected them to give him a new contract. That's a horrible negotiation strategy. Contact the FO, make your case, then show up to camp. Guarantee he would have had a deal by now. All that being said, if he had shown up in shape and had a stellar year he would have had a case and probably would have gotten a new deal mid-season. But he sucked, in a BIG way. I don't blame the FO for not reworking his deal, he certainly didn't earn it this season. Now he has the audacity to demand to be the highest paid lineman in the league. !@#$ him. Whether or not you think he has leverage is irrelevant. It's all up to the FO at this point. Peters has two years left on his deal, so he can hold out if he wants and get nothing for it. But he's only hurting himself. If it looks like he's going to do that and we can't get good value for him in a trade then look elsewhere and let him destroy his own career. Exactly.
-
He is. But he saw how it worked out for Lee Evans and Jason Peters and has decided (thus far, at least) to not holdout. Wouldn't be a good move for a 28 year old RB. The Bills tendered Jackson already, but he hasn't signed it yet. He has very little leverage in this whole deal, but I'm hoping Buffalo gives him a fair deal for a very good #2 RB (somewhere in the area of 3 years/$9M). He can retire on that at 31 if he wants, especially in Buffalo.

Not what I read... http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile...rospect_id=1721 http://www.nfldraftblogger.com/tag/aaron-maybin/ http://community.thetimes-tribune.com/blog...te-edition.aspx http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/chi-2...,0,808371.story http://www.usatoday.com/sports/football/fa...t.htm?refresh=1 http://mbd.scout.com/mb.aspx?s=157&f=1395&t=3979777

I disagree. I think McKelvin was a great pick and has a much higher ceiling than Greer. He's also a phenomenal returner. If we take Clady we can't take McKelvin. In retrospect we would have been better to handle the contract before Jake Long got his absurd contract from Miami, of course hindsight is 20/20. If Peters had reported earlier I think he would have gotten something done. I think him holding out until a week before the regular season in addition to stinking it up all season really hurt him. And now he has the audacity to ask to be the highest paid offensive lineman in the league? !@#$ him. No arguments there. Tell that to Lee Evans. He doesn't deserve $8M/year. He was the worst starting LT in football last year! Not necessarily. The only reason he's asking this much is because of Jake Long. If Long busts and gets cut (which I don't expect to happen, FYI) the highest paid lineman is Faneca at $8M/year. That brings his asking price down precipitously.

Only if a 3-4 team picks him... This article is bull sh--. "At the NFL scouting combine last month, Maybin's 40 time was in the mid-4.7 range" Wasn't it 4.89?? "The 6-4 Maybin has also gained 25 pounds since the middle of January, bulking up from 227 to 252." Everywhere I've read has him going from 234 to 249. "Maybin, the former PSU defensive end who declared for the NFL draft following his redshirt sophomore season, ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds this morning during PSU's Pro Day workout on campus." Yeah, right. Besides, he put on 25 lbs. in a month? That can't be healthy...
-
That...doesn't make any sense.
-
Not unless he can play DE. Trade down. If that's not an option, draft best player available at a position of need (DE, TE, OL).

Maybin betters his forty time at pro day
Leonidas replied to firstngoal's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Exactly. Without exception. He played at 234 lbs. He weighed in at the combine at 249 lbs. and ran slower than my grandmother with a broken hip. Listen basskik11 - he has "bust" written all over him. Avoid this guy like the plague. -
I'm not sure how overpaying Dockery - and then acknowledging you overpaid for him by promptly cutting him - is at all relevant here. Compare apples to apples - don't just look at Jake Long and Dockery, compare Peters to the other 30 starting LT's in the league. Is he underpaid now? I would say so. Does being an undrafted free agent play into that? Certainly. Is that fair? I think so. But is he a top 5 LT? Statistics argue otherwise. Sure, he had one good year in '07, but that doesn't warrant $11.5M/year, sorry. Not even close. Is that you Jason?? You mean another tackle who can give up 11.5 sacks/year? Yeah, that's a tough one. When you are 32nd in the league in giving up sacks at your position you aren't irreplaceable. Yeah, we're all just retards with 4th grade educations

haha, well said. That's all well and good, and I'm not going to pretend to know who is better between the three of them at this stage of their respective careers, but I'd feel a lot more comfortable if they signed ONE of them over the next week or two. I'd actually prefer they signed two of them if they actually weren't in any sort of demand so that as soon as someone got hurt we'd have legit depth and not Keith Ellison vs. the Patriots.

Tenn. DE Robert Ayers visiting Bills
Leonidas replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why? Do you like to overpay and not get draft picks in return? I think it's pretty safe to say we can get him at #20 or so, so why not trade down on draft day if Ayers is the guy you really want? That being said, San Jose has a great point. Ayers doesn't time well in any speed drills, and his production was atrocious. I'm sick of this "late bloomer" and "good against the run" crap. Finding a DE who is good against the run is easy (Denney and Kelsay aren't bad against the run), and not worth drafting the first day. The trick is to find a pass rushing like Osi and co. -
...and Magox goes silent...finally.
-
I was just going to say something like "he's a 30 year old running back," but you know what? You're right. He is their offense. Looks like we'll see a lot of "K. Clemens to L. Washington" screen passes. Of course I say this and watch the Jets land Cutler. Then I'm moving to Europe and taking up watching soccer.
-
I heard we signed T.O. and Anthony Bialy disapproves. Rumor has it he's gathering more similes and metaphors to describe just how much he disapproves.

Finally someone with some sense. Lynch is 22; Jackson is 28. End of conversation.

Tenn. DE Robert Ayers visiting Bills
Leonidas replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You mean the Alabama game where he had four tackles and zero sacks? Yeah, real unstoppable. I saw Super Bowl XLI. If I could draft Tuck or Umenyiora I would but I'm pretty sure it's a little late for that. -

Leonidas replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can always trade down, it just depends it the compensation is worth it. But if you can take the same guys (Ayers, Pettigrew) at #20 than you can take at #11, then you should be willing to take less for your #11 pick. And I agree that sacks aren't everything. But three is unacceptable from a top draft pick, I'm sorry. Again, I'll take my chances with trading down and drafting Michael Johnson over Ayers. -
The "Accuracy" of Mock Drafts
Leonidas replied to San Jose Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Mock drafts are impossible. All it takes it one team to mix it up - that includes trading up/down - and the rest of the mock is thrown off. I'm not sure why anyone is surprised by this... -
Why is Chris Mortensen such a douche?
Leonidas replied to Major Mud's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You shouldn't get a drink and take a crap at the same time?? Why not?? No, we weren't. Donahoe was awful. Why did we draft McGahee again?? We should have traded out of that pick. What about Chris Kelsay, Mike Williams, J.P. Losman, and Rob Johnson?? Good riddance. -

Donte Stallworth ran a 4.18 (allegedly) at Tennessee. Don't believe any times except for the ones obtained in Indy. -
Tenn. DE Robert Ayers visiting Bills
Leonidas replied to Beerball's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He better not be. He had three sacks this year!! Nine in his entire four-year career!! Stay away from him. I'd rather trade down and take a shot at Michael Johnson from GT. People can cry "workout warrior" and compare him to Mike Mamula all they want, but at least he had some decent production in college. What did Ayers do?? Basically nothing. AVOID. -
If Lynch is Suspended for 4 games, what now?
Leonidas replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thanks. Very good point. Those are good points. I just like having depth since we don't seem to have it. Freddy J. played like a man possessed against New England, but if he gets hurt who spells Marshawn? Or if Marshawn gets suspended for four (I know $$ has it at 1-2 now) who spells Freddy? It just seems that people have a lot of faith in Omon when I'm not sure that it's warranted just yet. And hey, if a cheap veteran is available (Duce Staley actually comes to mind now) then it might not hurt to bring him in.
