From John Clayton: Q: My Chiefs need a new OC,OG, and probably a RT. Why not give LeCharles Bentley a look? He's still fairly young, and was dominant before that injury. From what I understand, he should be ready to play. Where is Bentley right now? Is his career over? A: Talking to Bentley a couple of weeks ago, I got the feeling that the Bills are interested in him. The Chiefs might be, too. Obviously, his knee problems would be a concern. With the infection he suffered in the knee, he doesn't have full motion, but he is confident the knee is good enough to play. He's worth a look. Bentley does need to get in an offseason program as early as possible as long as he is healthy. He's all football. He's running a training academy trying to help young athletes learn football, particularly young offensive linemen. Because of the problems with his knee, he wasn't going to be involved in the first, second or third wave of free agency. Now, half the free-agent list is gone. It's time for the Bentleys of the world to get their test drives.

Yeah, but some people like to use it for "offensive center" and "offensive guard." There's no such things as a "defensive center" or a "defensive guard," although occassionally "nose guard" is used for a 4-3 DT which I think it stupid, personally.

Why?? We lose, so what. We haven't won in New England since the Dark Ages. But if we go in there and smack them in the mouth it's a huge victory. I like it. I live in Boston, I might go.

Does Coffman impress anybody? Does he come off as that much of an upgrade over Fine? I dunno, I just don't see it. I'd love to grab Cook or Nelson in the 2nd round (assuming we don't trade for Scheff, which would be ideal) and really open up the passing game.

And watch as Brady picks us apart opening night because we can't get anywhere near him. And why do people use the moniker OC? Obviously the C is on O; there isn't a DC.
-
haha...ohh I wish you were joking...

No, rather when he needs a breather I'd prefer not to have a RB in there as a decoy. If Oman isn't a serious threat to run it when he spells Jackson the secondary can lock on the WR's and the DE's/OLB's can pin their ears back and come after Trent without having to worry about a draw or something to that effect.

Pete Prisco says Bill's biggest need is TE
Leonidas replied to In-A-Gadda-Levitre's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Is anyone else expecting us to fill more holes through free agency? I know I am. We could trade a second day pick for Scheffler and sign a LG and an OLB and have very little to worry about. I will say, though, now that we're getting closer to the salary cap, that trading up for a top 10 pick (i.e. Orakpo) seems even less likely than it did before. -

Seriously. Apparently he was practice squad fodder last year. Wouldn't Chambers, and even Bell, be ahead of this guy?? You've got to think Prisco just looked at a roster and threw him out there with his "Guards Brad Butler and Brandon Rodd are decent" comment. -
I sure hope Oman is ready to spell Jackson this year, otherwise Freddy is gonna get tired...

Reaching for a LG doesn't give the Bills leverage that they don't already have. They already have most of the leverage since Peters still has two years left on his deal and he gave up a league high 11.5 sacks last year. But hoping Peters will lower his demands simply because we sign a rookie LG (which is paid lower than LT) to a lower contract is insane. Well, no argument there.
-
He doesn't give you any leverage you don't already have, and he's an absolute reach at #11. Pass. Next!

Someone should merge this in with the Mortensen hates Buffalo/Hitler thread...
-
For better or worse it always is...
-
Not until halftime, at least. Go to The Harp in Boston, MA. You'll be alright.
-
You think Peters is going to lower his contract demands based on what a rookie guard signs for? Get your head checked.
-
Wait, people think Peters should be traded??
-
This is what I touched on about a month ago. If Stafford falls that is good for us, that means it's possible someone trades up to get him and perhaps a Raji (who everyone seems to be completely sold on) or an Orakpo slide down to us. It could also create a trading frenzy which Buffalo could take advantage of.

Does anybody know if Maybin can even play LB? From what it sounds like to me he's a pass rushing specialist like Bryce Paup or T. Suggs. Can he cover? Can he drop into a zone? Can he recognize plays? Can he get off of downfield blocking? Since we don't really blitz our LB's he doesn't seem like a good fit for us at any position.

All Three qb's may be gone by pick 15
Leonidas replied to Magox's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think SF takes a QB first. No way. Between Smith, Hill, and O'Sullivan they'll find someone to play that position. My money says Singletary takes someone in the trenches. -
Naa, I've seen the videos on ESPN like everyone else. I've looked at his stats and while impressive, they were done at a completely unsustainable weight. If he had come to the combine and run a sub 4.6 at that weight I would have been impressed; running a 4.89 has danger signs all over it. Dwight Freeney was "undersized" at 6'1" 268 lbs., running a 4.38 40. Maybin at 6'3" 249 lbs. running basically a 4.9? Are you kidding me?? I don't think that's something a few clips of him beating some worthless college tackles is going to change my mind. If he can beat Jake Long, Matt Light, and D'Brickashaw Furgueson, I'll be impressed.

Owens not at offseason workouts

Chris Kelsay was almost certainly there. I hear he's "bulking up" this year... -

Andre Smith has "bust" written all over him. Mike Williams part deux. Sidbury shouldn't go until the second day; I'd like to be able to get him in round four but would be willing to grab in the third if the opportunity to do so is there and we don't have another need to fill (LG, TE, OLB). -
2008 Bills Schedule (Yes 2008)
Leonidas replied to Never NEVER Give-up's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I try to come up for one game/year. Unfortunately the SF game was the one I made last year. Worst experience I've ever had at a football game. Just awful.
