  1. I love your enthusiasm. I'll keep my thoughts on corporate ownership to myself for the time being so Mr. WEO doesn't have an aneyurism but I think that list is a little optimistic. Jax and Minny are facing trouble, certainly, but that one article pointing at KC seems way off; I don't think they go anywhere. New Orleans won't go anywhere for awhile with the whole Katrina thing, and if SD moves they'll just move 20 miles south to Chula Vista which doesn't really count. It's like the Bills moving from Orchard Park to Tonawanda. As long as they don't move out of the greater Buffalo area nobody is really going to complain.
  2. He wasn't grossly underpaid last year. If you lead the league in sacks allowed and you're NOT the lowest paid player then you aren't underpaid, much less "grossly" underpaid. "Market value." People don't seem to know what that means. Just because Jake Long is absurdly overpaid doesn't mean that Peters' market value is all of a sudden $10M+/year. If Peters didn't plan on honoring the contract then he shouldn't have signed a FIVE year deal. That being said, he does deserve to get paid more as a starting LT. But if he thinks he deserves anywhere near what he's asking he's on some serious drugs. I just hope the FO isn't on the same drugs.
  3. You're right, it is absurd. There isn't a single organization that would pay a tackle $10M/year after sitting out all required mini-camps, OTA's, and pre-season games, showing up fat and out of shape, and giving up a league-high 11.5 sacks. Good point.
  4. True, but if we bring a guy in for depth that shouldn't preclude us from drafting the guy we might want to start at LG for the next decade or so if he is available at a good value pick. Plus, signing a guy like Simmons shouldn't keep us from wanting to upgrade. One problems the Bills have had the last few years has been depth. I would love the signing of a Simmons and a June/Keiaho but would still go after those positions in the draft if the talent was available.
  5. By your logic no team ever has glaring holes as long as they have a a body to fill in at the position. We don't have a hole at LG because we have Brandon Rodd on the roster?? Give me a break. Except that Keiaho or June would be an upgrade over Ellison. Except that Simmons or Waters would be an upgrade over ____. Except that a piece of driftwood would be an upgrade over Kelsay. Otherwise you're spot on.
  6. I love the idea of going after Simmons for depth, but the guy is a diabetic recovering from an achilles tendon injury. If he doesn't scream "injury" concern, I don't know who does. Waters would be the better selection obviously (even if he is two years older), but we shouldn't get carried away with him and offer any more than a fifth rounder for him. 32 year old linemen don't really warrant much more than that, and there's plenty of talent in the draft if we don't get him.
  7. Actually, the Patriots secretly haven't had a good draft in like four years. In the '07 draft we got Lynch, Poz, and Edwards. The rest of the draft was notoriously weak. I think the Pats cut every player they drafted outside of their top pick (Meriweather). Their 2006 draft, aside from Gostkowski, was pretty poor too. Time will tell on the 2008 draft.
  8. 3 picks in the first 33 rounds?? Is this the MLB draft?? Tyson Jackson is a 3-4 DE who can't get to the QB. Pass.
  9. Seriously? Clady is far better than Peters, hands down. Finding a replacement for a guy who gave up 11.5 sacks in 13 games won't be all that difficult either, especially if he is traded for a first round draft pick or two. This is a very deep draft for offensive linemen. If Peters is traded (has anyone addressed this yet?) Beatty from UConn would be a solid replacement.
  10. Well, McKelvin and Rodgers-Cromartie we the top two corners; Talib was close behind them but he wasn't at the same level. I remember actually being afraid Buffalo would draft Talib and being relieved when they drafted McKelvin. One of the scouting reports on Talib was that he'd always go for the big play and frequently gave up big plays in doing so - all I could think of was Nate Clements going for the interception on 4th and forever against Jax opening day a few seasons ago.
  11. You think so? Was he any good in college? I know he ran a 4.5, but I don't know much else about him except that he's more or less guaranteed to go in the second round now... By the way, Pettigrew never makes it past Atlanta at #24 IMO.
  12. haha yeah, pretty sure it's not "Algae" Crumpler...
  13. Uhhh...Dean?? http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showt...60&start=60
  14. I don't think he'll go in the top 10, but it would be great if he did. If a team needing a 3-4 edge rusher like Cleveland or Green Bay could take him over an E. Brown or an Orakpo but he could be a major bust. Remember Vernon Gholston? Of course it's too early to call him a bust, but it certainly looks that way from here. If Maybin goes top 10 our chances of getting Brown increase immensely; if Sanchez also goes top 10 then we are more or less guaranteed Brown, or even that monster Orakpo slipping to us. Also, if Sanchez is still available at #11 we may be able to trade out of the spot and get some good value in return.
  15. There will supposedly be a run in round two on TE's, and with Nelson and Cook running so well in the 40 Coffman might drop? I don't know, just what I heard.
  16. ...unless you're the Green Bay Packers, of course...
  17. You expect an NFL owner to move a team to a location to revitalize the area? I'm not sure you understand why a team moves. A team will move to Toronto or L.A. because it sells tickets. Unless I'm mistaken, there are no wealthy owners from NF-US. Why would anyone move them there??
  18. Don't say that to Mr. WEO, you'll get scolded...
  19. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather not take a guy #11 overall who doesn't fit into a particular position. There's a difference between being a 'tweener like Maybin and being versatile like a Jerod Mayo or Mathias Kiwanuka. I'll admit I haven't seen much of this guy, but from what I have seen it looks like he is just a fast dude with no technique and too small to get enough push off of NFL tackles (http://video.aol.com/video-detail/draft-mi...aybin/599245129). By all means though if you've seen more of him than I have I welcome the differing opinion. Personally, I am much more impressed by Everette Brown: (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qXJJ14HL5EE) Also, can someone tell me what the allure of B.J. Raji is? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9UQ2YGE9SLM I just don't see it... Here's another thought: does anyone think it's worth trading up to #4 to get Orakpo? I'm not sure it's worth the price...but it is tempting to consider:
  20. certainly a "possibility"...
  21. Yes, certainly no earlier than the fifth I would think.
  22. Maybin clocked in faster at his pro day...just like athletes always do. His 4.89 at the Combine was pathetic. Comparing him to the DE's for the Colts isn't entirely correct. Dwight Freeney is three inches shorter than Maybin and weighs 20 lbs. more than he does. He also ran a 4.38 at the Combine. Robert Mathis is a bit closer to Maybin in size, but I think he mainly benefits from teams having fits over Freeney. Plus, Mathis was a fifth round draft pick. You'll never see me complain about taking Aaron Maybin in the fifth round (everyone settle down...I know he won't be there then). I believe there is, and his name is Brian Orakpo. That's why he'll be long gone by the time we pick.
  23. I don't know who either of these guys are, but no FB should be drafted by this team until the late second day. Too many holes to fill. If we get a DE, TE, OL, LB, and maybe an S then we can look at FB, but not before.
  24. I still don't see why anybody likes Maybin to play a 4-3 DE at his size. He bulked up, but he's still under 250 and ran slow when he did. I don't get it. And Ayers? I understand he played in the SEC, but doesn't three sacks in his final season tell you something? That doesn't warrant a #11 overall pick to me. We need a guy who will get to the quarterback. I don't see how 3 sacks will turn into a double-digit production. And if it doesn't - which in all likelyhood is won't - then it's an absolute reach at #11.
  25. Why don't you just do all of us a favor and kill yourself shut the !@#$ up.
