I was talking about this with my brother-in-law - a Patriots fan - over Easter dinner and I think I'm going to go. He's going to wear the Brady jersey I got him for Christmas, I'm going to wear the Marshawn jersey he got me for Christmas. We're going to drink 800 beers. Keep your eyes peeled! -

After reading that article on Omon I am really, really pulling for the guy. But our #3 RB is going to see significant playing time early in the season, so if it's Omon, he's got to be ready. I'd like to see Buffalo bring in a vet to challenge him but give Omon every chance to win the job; I'd certainly be pulling for him. From ESPN Insider: Strengths A thickly built and powerful back with adequate height and very good bulk. A one-cut downhill runner with adequate-to-good straight-line speed. Is a strong north-south runner with good vision, body control and balance. A tough inside runner that uses good pad-level and leg drive to gain yards after contact. Also utilizes a stiff-arm very effectively. Protects the ball well and thrives in his role as bell cow back within an offense. He has shown reliable hands as a receiver out of the backfield and has adequate experience in that regard. Is a strong blocker with the size and toughness to pick up the blitz in pass protection. Weaknesses Lacks elite acceleration as a runner. A bit of a one-speed power runner that won't be able to run away from defenders or run over defenders as easily in the NFL as he does at the small-school level. Lacks ideal elusiveness and does not make many defenders miss in space. Is sure-handed as an underneath receiver but will never be a homerun threat as a route-runner or after the catch in the NFL. Missed one game with an ankle injury in 2005, missed two games with a rib injury in 2006 and durability is a concern. Overall Omon redshirted in 2003. He played in 40 games (31 starts) in his first three seasons (2004-'06), gaining 4,736 rushing yards and 55 touchdowns on 899 carries (5.3 average). In 2007, he led the Division II ranks in rushing, was named the D-II Offensive Player of the Year and became the first back in NCAA history to rush for 1,500 yards in each of four seasons. He ran for an eye-popping 2,337 yards and 37 touchdowns on 370 carries (6.3 average) in 14 games (all starts) as a senior. For his career, he had 90 receptions for 682 yards (7.6 average) and six touchdowns. Omon missed one game in 2005 after suffering an ankle injury, and sat out two games in 2006 because of a rib injury. Omon is a Division II standout who has prototypical size, power and vision as a runner. On the other hand, while his speed is adequate, he doesn't have the second gear or elusiveness to become anything more than a No. 2 or No. 3 back in the NFL. He doesn't show much upside as a receiver or kickoff return specialist either so he projects as a late round pick or rookie free agent. Height: 5'10" Weight: 228 lbs College: NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE Flag: D* S* Overall Rank: 0 Position Rank: 37 Glossary: D (DURABILITY): Player that can't stay healthy S (SPEED): Player lacks ideal speed at position -
Jerry Sullivan to be on Sirius Opening Drive

Nobody got that reference??? *sigh* -
Can we have Mike Mayock put to death if we pick Ayers and he's a complete bust? Can that be written into his rookie contract??

"I'll believe that when my sh-- turns purple and tastes like rainbow sherbet." Schobel had 1 sack in 5 games last year before his injury. Barring a complete reversal, he's on the significant downside of his career.

I like the Jets for Quinn and the G-men for Edwards too. The Titans have Collins, VY, and Patrick Ramsey on their roster at QB, they don't need anyone else, and certainly wouldn't pony up a first round pick for one. The Vikings could be in the mix too, but I have this feeling they like Rosenfels for some unknown reason. Maybe they didn't see the helicopter vs. Indy. I suppose Detroit is a possibility too. But I definitely think Braylon is heading to Jersey/A.

Just like the stock market: buy low, sell high. They bought this guy extremely low and have the opportunity to sell him very, very high before the 'market' catches up to the fact that he's a lazy slob. Get it done! Tim: you're the God damned man. On behalf of anybody who says ontherwise on this site, I apologize. WHAT???? If you comb through the other JP threads - and I highly recommend not doing this for your sake - there are some that infer that we are a playoff/super bowl team with him, and a mediocre 8-8 team without him. Blows my mind too. -

wtf are you talking about? He's due $1.5M this year. Sure, his signing bonus was too high, but trading him now doesn't help you there. Pre-prison Donte', or post-prison Donte'? -
yeah, let's get this guy...

I live in Boston but I'm afraid to go. If/when they lose, I'll be devastated. The hatred I have for the Patriots is a hatred unbeknownst to most... If you have the $$, fly and rent a car. Then stay in Boston. If you're on a budget, drive (7+ hours), and get a hotel somewhere outside of Providence (north). She'd be a better girlfriend if she wore a Bills jersey to the game... Yeah, from NYC you drive or take the BoltBus for $15. The security checkpoints alone will cost you more time - and aggravation - then it's worth. And flying from NYC isn't cost effective. -
Ahh crap. Well for whatever reason they haven't used Parrish as a KR since his rookie year. My guess is that his quickness and elusivity (is that a word?) or more of an aid on PR's and his lack of size might expose him more on KR's. Just my $.02. Also, I don't think I've ever seen McGee return punts. We all know he's a fantastic KR, but if you take him out of the equation at PR you only have Parrish and McKelvin, and I don't like the idea of McKelvin returning kicks, punts, and being a starting CB.

But a lot of that was in guaranteed money. They'd only save $1-1½M on base salary this year and take a $1M cap hit. It blows my mind when people want to pay a LT who was certainly below average last year $11M/year but want to cut the best PR in the league to save $1M. Then you have the extremely bright people who say "just cut Parrish (or Kelsay) and give the money to Peters"...as if that makes up the gap. Amen, guys. Dean, you've been remarkably quiet on this subject... He doesn't have the size to be a consistent deep threat. I mean, Evans isn't big, but Parrish is small. He is better served getting the ball in space on drag routes or screen passes. -

Roscoe AND third for Scheffler?? That's a terrible trade. I wouldn't give up more than a third for Scheffler anyhow; Parrish is certainly not a "throw in." Did you mean Roscoe for Scheffler and a third? Maybe. Probably not, but maybe... http://www.stadiumwall.com/index.php?showt...p;#entry1384115 I disagree. With kick returning the return team has time to setup blocks and there are other people to return it if it doesn't come close to you. Returning punts is just...chaos. I seem to remember PR's getting hurt more often than KR's. What does that have to do with anything? If anything, that supports the case that Roscoe should stay to add depth at PR/KR. If Roscoe gets injured then McKelvin replaces him at PR. If McKelvin gets injured and Roscoe is traded, then who replaces him at PR AND CB??? He doesn't. Manning does the returning now. Lovie Smith even held a press conference about it last year. And it doesn't make any sense. His trade value can't be that high. His salary certainly isn't. And he's crazy athletic/dynamic. I say keep him. And yet people are clamoring to trade him for a fourth round pick. Yeah, let's trade the best PR of all time for...Dwayne Wright. Nobody's saying not to listen to offers. At some point everybody's expendable (I just don't think anyone is going to give up anything close to what Roscoe's real value to the team is). But there's a difference between listening to offers and actively shopping a player. The former doesn't usually get their own articles on ESPN. I certainly hope it's not the latter. Excellent point. -
Did you read what I've written, or just made your own assumptions about it? Did I say I don't want McKelvin returning kicks anywhere? No. But I don't want him being our starting punt returner. Returning punts is more dangerous than kicks IMO, and if he's going to be a top tier CB we can't risk him being a full-time punt returner. For what? A bag of footballs?
-
So let's say McKelvin is returning punts and he gets injured. Let's make it like Sehorn, and say it's an ACL injury, he's out the rest of the year. So now you've got Youboty/Florence/Corner starting at CB and Jackson returning punts for the rest of the season? All because you didn't want to pay $1.5M?? Seems incredibly short-sighted. You might be right about him not being a good WR. I'm not necessarily blaming it all the coaching staff, but rather saying it could definitely be part of the equation. But at his salary, being a dynamic returner and decent #4 option on passing downs (getting 10+ plays/game on offense), I think trading him (barring a blockbuster offer) would be a terrible move. And what's this about bias? The only bias I have is for the Buffalo Bills. I'm not Parrish's uncle. I don't have some sort of predisposition to the guy. I just want to win, and I think we have a better chance of doing that with him on the roster than without him.
-
More or less everybody. From what I have heard there is zero chance of us getting more than a third. McKelvin is going to get hurt returning punts, then we're going to be seriously hampered at CB. If McKelvin turns into the CB we all hope he will as the #11 overall pick, then you CAN'T have him returning punts because the risk/reward isn't in your favor. And Fred Jackson returning punts? Seriously? He has nowhere near the explosiveness or game-breaking ability that Parrish has. He doesn't have top-end speed, quickness, or elusiveness. No one is kicking away from Fred Jackson. Agreed. But McGee is a free agent at the end of the year. And he's also a starter who, if injured, seriously affects our defense (if Parrish gets injured our offense doesn't suffer). I agree that the coaching has a lot to do with it. I'm not sure that he's been "useless" but as the fourth or fifth target on any pass play do the progressions even get to him? I'm not sure. But I know that Steve Johnson, while being groomed for the #2 (outside, not inside), certainly doesn't have Parrish's speed and quickness. Whoa, come on dude, you know better than that. $1M is already guaranteed. You can save $1.5M by cutting him, not $2.5M. We aren't $1M over the cap or anything. I'd rather spend the money on a guy who is a threat to break one every time he touches the ball and provides substantial depth on specials.
-
Warrick Dunn is a warm-weather guy. Like Jason Taylor, I think it's extremely unlikely he would want to come to Buffalo. But I love the guy. Very down to earth. Michael Pittman would fit the style of thugs we apparently have on this team. Just ask Melissa Pittman. I didn't watch him play last year, but DeShaun Foster's numbers with SF were atrocious. Not sure that he has anything left at 29. I wouldn't mind bringing any of these guys in on a one-year, veteran minimum contract. But X. Omon should get every chance to beat them out for the #3 spot on the depth chart.
-
Absolutely. If McKelvin gets hurt during punt returns because the FO felt the need to get some schmuck for Parrish I'll love my !@#$ing mind. Uhhh, no, he was drafted for special teams and to be the slot guy. He is certainly not paid like a #2; he is paid like a slot receiver with excellent special teams abilities which is what he is. And the Bills don't have any WR's who does what Parrish does in the return game. Nowhere close. Do your homework.

Okay then, how does an extra third round pick get us over the hump, exactly?? And yes, that's my assumption because, you know, that's basically what's been circulated as compensation and that's exactly what the Chiefs got for Dante Hall. But what do I know.
