  1. Maybe we can trade a 1st, Peters, Lynch, and a 3rd for Boldin, then trade up and get Crabtree, and shoot for Hakeem Nicks in the 2nd round. Then we'd be nasty...
  2. Anybody that says we should promise not to franchise him. Anybody who says we should pay him $10+M/year after the year he just had. Anybody who starts another Jason Peters thread. Anybody who makes completely ridiculous offers like "just backload the entire contract" Anybody who says "just pay him" Anybody who says we should pay him "just to keep the fans happy" Anybody who doesn't understand how the salary cap works and says things like "just cut Kelsay (or insert player du jour) and give the money to Peters" jax bills backer VOR KnockOut30 billsfreak Rfeynman1 from http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afceast/0-7-71/...o-stay-put.html VABills More to come... From http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/sarcasm: –noun 1. harsh or bitter derision or irony. 2. a sharply ironical taunt; sneering or cutting remark: a review full of sarcasms. Probably not, but the idiocy is intensly frustrating.
  3. I believe Ramius called this one. Bring him into camp as an undrafted free agent. But don't waste a draft pick on this guy.
  4. haha, you're a dick, but that is pretty funny... Curry will go top 5. Not sure why this is even a discussion.
  5. I have an idea. How about we pay him the league minimum on his paycheck, and then just deliver fistfuls of cash to his locker every day so he doesn't have to pay taxes. That way he doesn't get screwed on direct deposit fees. We won't franchise him because he'll have an open ended contract - he can leave any day he feels like it. If he doesn't want to show up, he doesn't have to. If he wants to go play for NE for a few games after the season, then so be it. If he feels like leaving next season after collecting his signing bonus in cash (fistful of cash form, of course), then he can. And if he chooses to stay, we should write in that Ralph Wilson will deliver coffee to him personally every day, on the field. He also gets use of the team plane whenever he needs it, and the team boat - which hasn't yet been purchased. Get 'er done, Russ!! Some of you people are complete !@#$ing idiots.
  6. Wow, just a thought. Take your Midol and relax... I like having smart players. Belichick has done wonders with them. The guy is obviously a capable athlete. Being that bright is the icing on the cake.
  7. While I don't agree with your tone, you're pretty spot on with the analysis. The only ST coach that ever became a head coach that I can remember is Gruden, and I'm not all that sold on him as a coach. He won a Super Bowl with Tony Dungy's team and never did anything again.
  8. Can we trade him for some 7th round compensatory picks???
  9. Wow, Ebon Britton scored a 31?? Could we get him with the Peters pick, say #21? Grab a LB at #11, then a pass rushing DE in the second and a TE in the third (since it's such a deep class this year)?
  10. That's a great analysis. I just don't want Andre Smith. Everyone seems to be high on Oher though and he should be available at #11. The Peters trade would give us another 1st round pick and we could grab a LB (Matthews/Cushing/Maluaga (sp?)) or a TE (Pettigrew) and a DE in the second (Sidbury/Gilbert/Barwin). Plenty of depth after that, and don't forget we need an LG. But this could work. Godspeed, Russ.
  11. I really like your insight on college players, so don't take this the wrong way, but he showed he has the ability to be lazy and completely underperform and let his teammates down. So he outperformed his contract in '07. He was about on par in '08 (still "underpaid," but he "underperformed" to match his salary). He has also shown he has injury issues. If the Bills sign him to a mega-deal he is going to be the biggest bust since Losman. We'll be back in salary cap hell and unable to sign free agents all that so we have a fairly decent guy protecting a QB who we won't be able to pay. What a joke.
  12. Just making sure. Totally agree. I just wish Buffalo had that kind of creativity on defense. Aside from the Seattle game, that didn't appear to be the case last season. Doubtful. But he could be snagged in the second when there's a run on DE's like Sidbury, Barwin, etc. Not really. Players have to switch all the time. Brown and Maybin are projected at 3-4 OLB's even though they played DE in college. You can go even more extreme and look at guys like Matt Jones, Kordell Stewart, Antwaan Randel-El, etc. There's no irony there. I'm not sure who you are saying would be a huge upgrade over Kelsay, Jackson or Gilbert. I certainly don't think Jackson would as Kelsay is pretty good against the run and neither can seem to get to the QB. Gilbert might be, but his 40 isn't really any faster than Kelsay's, so I wonder if he'd get to the QB in the NFL any faster than Kelsay would. But I'd definitely be up for giving him a shot. I'm starting to lean more toward these 2nd/3rd round DE's (Sidbury, Barwin, Gilbert) rather than these 1st round hybrids who seem more likely to bust (Brown, Maybin). Good for you. He'll be drafted by a 3-4 team to play DE. $100? $200?
  13. You are wrong. In that it would be fabulous news, that is.
  14. All I said is that Tyson Jackson doesn't fit as a DE in our scheme. If you think that's incorrect then get your head checked. Every analyst on the planet is predicting him as a 3-4 DE.
  15. Yeah, I thought about that, but they weren't the athletes back then that they are today. When they ran into a real athlete like Don Hutson, and later Bob Hayes, they were just embarrassed.
  16. You beat me to it. He's a DT that's faster than Ayers, a DE. And he can be gotten in a later round. According to NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/combine/top-performers), Gilbert ran the 40 in 4.87, Ayers ran it in 4.90 (Maybin ran it in 4.89, by contrast). Tyson Jackson - who would not work as a DE in our scheme (not because he's too big, but because he's too slow) ran a 5.00 (not bad for a DT). I'd still prefer a faster guy to get after the QB (like a Sidbury), but if this guy is available in the later rounds (3rd, 4th) he would definitely be worth a look.
  17. I actually really like that idea. But he wouldn't be able to be your #1 TE OR your #1 DE because he'd have to split his practice time in addition to the fact that no one has the stamina to play that many plays. He's also going to probably go in the second round, whereas a Chase Coffman might go in the third. But I like the idea. He's a Belichick kind of guy, my guess is that NE takes him in the second.
  18. Why, is someone else going to come in and give up more than 11½ sacks this year??? $10M for a guy that chose to perform at a below-average level last season and hasn't proven he can stay healthy an entire season. What a joke. Did you ever think that maybe, just maybe, that players have to prove themselves for a few years at the position before they can cash in? Especially when you're an undrafted free agent? He comes in as an undrafted FA on special teams. The Bills convert from TE to OL, and give him a new contract making him a wealthy guy already. One solid year at RT. Then he moves to left and has a solid year there. Then he holds out? Are you !@#$ing kidding me? Get rid of the !@#$ing bum. Contrary to the opinions of you and some others on this board, he is not irreplaceable. And at some point, with contracts getting absolutely out of control (especially in this economy), someone has to take a stand.
  19. Thanks for that. It's pretty informative. Looking at this makes me incredulous as to why we'd pay the guy with the most amount of sacks the most amount of money. Must be in topsy-turvy world!
  20. good thing it's starting to get warm out... $100 says they don't. Deal? Seriously? You want to have this discussion?? If you don't see a gaping hole at DE then start watching the games. And I hope you're right about Andre Smith being gone. I don't want anything to do with him.
  21. For the record, I was against letting Pat Williams go.
  22. That's why you're not a GM. If Atlanta trades for Gonzo Pettigrew's demand is even lower and he potentially drops even further. Why take - and pay - a guy at #11 when you can do it at #25 or lower???
  23. I hear you, but there's a different between an occassional F-bomb and people screaming the "break that !@#$ing guys neck" repeatedly.
  24. By contrast, I have been going to games since I was a kid and I'm a completely maladjusted 26 year old. Have you seen some of my posts?? A complete result of Buffalo rowdiness. For the same reason you don't let him watch Katt Williams do stand-up (besides the fact that he's just not funny) - he might know the words, but it's not great for his development for him to be exposed to all of them...at once. You don't want your nine year old to listen to some of that. That being said, I went with my dad to the SF game last year and sat in the corner on the lower level (section 117?). People were so vicious (and I can be pretty awful) I was actually embarrassed. By contrast, I've sat in section 113 and the JK Club in the past and not had any problems.
  25. He wasn't the worst LT, but he wasn't anywhere near elite. Not even close. I wouldn't pay him that kind of money after he's shown what he will do if unhappy. If he gets paid and gives up three sacks over three years and is a force in the run game, I'll be happy to admit I was wrong. If he gets paid, gives up eight sacks next year and is marginal in the run game (as many have suggested on this site), I expect to hear apologies from every single one of you, especially when our ticket prices go up. If he gets traded away, well, the picks will forever be compared against his performance on the next team which will be debatable for years to come on this site...
