Who are you, Ephialtes of Trachis???
-
Does Orakpo seem "coddled" to you? Vince Young was always going to bust. Rickey Williams didn't bust, but he didn't live up to #5 expectations. He was "different," though. Roy Williams didn't bust. Leonard Davis made the pro bowl. Orakpo seems motivated and as a DE won't get booed. Take him if he's available.

Man, you are a fun dude, I can tell. If reposting articles on a message board forum is a crime, I expect Allen Wilson to be prosecuting all of you people. By the way, I did pay my fee. It's called the ESPN Insider fee. You'd think I'd get a "thanks for the post" or something, instead I get grief. Jesus.

Another thing - if we pull the trigger on a trade for Henderson there's no WAY we take a DT in round three. I still think, with the depth at TE, and assuming we don't take Pettigrew in the first, that we take a TE no later than the third round. And while I admittedly don't know a lot about these guys, if we come away with a Nelson, Coffman, Casey, Ingram, or even Cook in the third, I'd be very happy.

God I hope you're wrong...

Can this be stickied? I want to check this on Saturday.

What? I reposted it from another internet site and called it the "McShay Mock Draft," not the "Leonidas.McKelvin Mock Draft." I'm pretty sure that happens every day. Thanks for the input, though. At least we aren't trading up into the first round for him. Mock drafts are less and less reliable the further you go out. I wouldn't worry about it. Orakpo is the guy I want at #11. I wouldn't mind a 6th or 7th round pick on a QB. But no WR, I agree. And yes, I want a quality TE in the third. I can see us trading up in that scenario to grab Nelson or staying put and grabbing Coffman.

It's the sixth round, bro. Settle down.

Personally, I would be ecstatic about this. I love Orakpo coming off the edge, Britton is supposed to be quick and smart (which he has to be to make up for his T-Rex arms - like Michael Roos), and Alex Mack to shore up the center. I don't know anything about Alex Magee or Cameron Morrah - and would prefer a TE in the third, personally - but can't really argue with it otherwise. Oh, and a WR at any point? I hope not. Also, the Ball State QB is supposed to be the fourth best QB in this extremely thin draft class. Wouldn't mind picking him up in the 6th at all.

Oher makes four top-10 OTs Big-name wideouts and defensive ends on the move as first round shuffles Email Print Share By Todd McShay Scouts Inc. 11. Buffalo Bills (7-9): Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB, Texas Top three needs: Rush DE, C/G, TE Orakpo is the top-rated DE/OLB hybrid in this draft and we think he is a better fit at end in a 4-3 alignment, which makes him a great fit for the Bills. His strength and burst off the edge will be a welcome addition for a defense that got only three combined sacks from Chris Kelsay and Aaron Schobel last season. 28. Buffalo Bills (from 12-4 CAR through Philadelphia) (7-9): Eben Britton, OT, Arizona Top three needs: OT, WR, RB Buffalo traded away Jason Peters to get this pick and Britton will help fill the void left by Peters' departure. Awesome article. Thanks for posting. I still have yet to hear why we SHOULDN'T draft Beatty at #28, even if it is a bit of a reach.

I swear to Christ if we trade Parrish for a fifth rounder... -

Whitner is the only bonafide starter at S, right? Besides him we have Wendling, Simpson, Scott, Wilson, and Corto who I would think would all be special teamers (maybe not Simpson or Scott if he's starting). There's plenty of places to draft a DB to play specials in rounds 6 and 7. Or you carry 7 WR's. Wouldn't be the end of the world. Better than dressing Dustin Fox, Corey Mace, or Jonathan Stupar. -

I don't see why carrying 6 WR's is such a big deal. Evans, T.O., Reed, Hardy, Johnson, Parrish. Are you telling me that what Justin Jenkins does on specials can't be replaced by one of our DB's? I don't buy it. -

Yes, but he's a starter, and now you're asking him to return punts AND kicks (with McGee) in addition to starting at CB. Great strategy. Oh wait, 28 year old unsigned Fred Jackson can return punts too. It's called a zone defense. They created it after Bob Hayes lit up defenses in the 70's. -
Who thinks the players the Bills take at #28 or #42
Leonidas replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's a great analysis. Does Meredith project to be a better pro than Beatty? And I don't understand what all the hubbub is about Larry English. He reminds me of Everette Brown in that he's a DE in a LB body. -
Doesn't he have T-Rex arms??

Hall got traded at 28. Parrish is 26. Parrish has several good years left as the best PR in the league. Leave him alone, Buffalo. -
Man, there is a ton of hate for Kelsay on this board. This perception that he's a THIRD stringer is insane. He's a very, very solid backup. He is overpaid, though (although some of you have no idea how the cap works, still). I would bet that he would consider a paycut if he underperforms this season rather than be cut.
-
He's 32. A 3rd rounder?? Pass.

Here's a good article compaing the 3-4 defense vs the 4-3.
Leonidas replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Perhaps. But 3-4 defensive linemen can be difficult to find. You need that big nose at 340+ lbs., and you need two solid 290 lb. DE's. Tyson Jacksons, Richard Seymours, and Ted Washingtons don't grow on trees. -
$8M/year for a 32 year old guard? Are you serious? The interior of our line doesn't scare me that much (unlike the exterior, which is purely frightening at this point). As far as Scheffler is concerned, what is he worth? Our second fourth rounder? Maybe. Maybe not... 2008 Scouting Report - Scouts Inc. Tony Scheffler, TE Grade: 65 | Key Alert: None Comment: Scheffler is a good-sized target who has above-average downfield speed, good body control and agility for his route-running skills. He has come a long ways in his ability to set up defenders and can separate well enough to gain a step on most safeties. He has adequate run after the catch tools, but does not have the afterburners to turn many catches into long touchdowns. He reads coverages well and does a good job of settling into soft spots in zone coverage to present a good target for the quarterback. He knows how to use his size and athleticism to be an effective receiver in the red zone and can reach up to highpoint the catch with his naturally soft hands. He is a decent blocker, at best, and needs to add more bulk and strength to sustain his blocks better. He will get rag dolled by some NFL linebackers and should get better with age and added strength. Robert Royal, TE Grade: 65 | Key Alert: None Comment: Royal was able to have his best season of his six-year career after replacing the injured Kevin Everett. He is a solid athlete with good size and strength. Royal is more of a wall-off blocker than power player at the line of scrimmage. He isn't an explosive player, but uses his hands well and stays connected with good foot agility and effort. He understands angles and his limitations as a run blocker. He has developed as a receiver and is most effective in short and intermediate zones. Royal doesn't have great speed or quickness to threaten down the field, but finds voids in zones and uses his body to get separation in man coverage. He has solid hands to make the tough reception away from his body, but shows some stiffness when the ball is thrown below his waist. He has courage in traffic, but doesn't break many tackles and doesn't show great run after the catch ability. He has been a solid special team's contributor and may continue to improve his overall game with more leg strength and opportunities to show his wares as a receiver.
