Are you telling me that between Bell, Green, and Meredith, no one can man the RT position? I find that difficult to believe. Regardless, we shouldn't draft #9 overall at RT.

If we go heavy on the lines (which is what I would prefer - not a fan of Tebow or McCoy in the first two rounds and Claussen, good or bad, would get crushed if we threw him out there now), would we be better off going NT/OT with something like Dan Williams/Bruce Campbell or OT/NT with something like Anthony Davis/Cam Thomas?

They were beatable last season too, save a McKelvin fumble with 2:00 left in the game and Keith Ellison not being able to cover his grandmother.

Per ESPN Insider: Update: Bills GM Buddy Nix threw some cold water on these allegedly hot rumors. "All this trade talk isn't coming from us," he said, per Sal Maiorana of the Democrat and Chronicle. Not a straight-up denial, but it does cast a little doubt. Back in March, there was a rumor that a "former Pro Bowl RB" was going to be traded this offseason. Some people pegged Marion Barber in that spot, but we always stuck with either Marshawn Lynch, Willis McGahee or Clinton Portis as the mystery man. On Tuesday, we speculated that with the signing of two other RBs within the past week, the Buffalo Bills were now even more likely to trade Lynch. Now the rumor has become somewhat official, as Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports reports that the Bills will be "entertaining offers" for Lynch heading into next week's draft. Furthermore, Robinson's sources indicate that the team is ready to pull the trigger on a deal if the return package involves a second-round pick. The team mentioned in the report as possibly being interested is the Seattle Seahawks. On the surface, a Lynch for a second-rounder deal wouldn't seem to make sense given Lynch's declining play and bad behavior off the field. On the other hand, Robinson notes that Lynch does have a relationship with current Seahawks RB Justin Forsett (they were teammates at Cal), so perhaps Forsett could help rein him in. If he could, they'd be getting a first-round talent in exchange for the 60th overall pick. It's also possible that the Bills would send a lower pick out to Seattle in Lynch's carry-on luggage.

With Brandon Marshall ushered out the door officially on Wednesday, the question becomes: "What's next for the Denver Broncos?" The draft repercussions will be felt by many teams, but it's possible there could also be another trade. Mike Klis of the Denver Post reported that TE Tony Scheffler is "close" to inking his restricted free agent tender; moreover, Klis points out that this event in Marshall's case led to a trade very quickly. This isn't the first rumor we've heard of a Scheffler trade, and there were actually rumors last offseason in the wake of the Jay Cutler trade that Scheffler would be moved. Based upon our own speculation (as we haven't heard any buzz on this one yet), one possible destination for Scheffler is the New England Patriots, who are still a bit bankrupt at the position in spite of the Alge Crumpler signing. Another option is the Cincinnati Bengals, as they could use another weapon in the passing game. Lastly, the St. Louis Rams could be interested; of course, this would depend on the price tag as it's unlikely they'd want to trade the No. 33 overall pick for the TE.

I'd say it's pretty unlikely we go 2-6 against the division this year...

Marshall's Contract Almost as Rich as Lee Evans'

Top 5 WRs by Cap Hit, 2009 * Larry Fitzgerald: $10,897,622. * Antonio Bryant: $9,890,760. * Randy Moss: $9,757,280. * Steve Smith (Panthers): $8,999,087 * Calvin Johnson: $8,186,495 Just sayin' -
Call it a hunch. The term "gimme pick" is relative here. I lost my mind when they didn't draft Orakpo who was the easy selection. Oher would have been a good consolation and certainly not a reach while filling a need. If that's the dumbest thing you've heard in the last five minutes on this board, much less your entire life, then you've been living in a box. Way to sugar coat ("not yet a major impact") a disastrous rookie campaign for a guy who likely wouldn't have gone till the end of the first (if that) otherwise. When he bulked up to a normal NFL weight from his adolescent 235 lbs. and ran a 4.8 40 at the combine that should have been a red flag. Especially after one good season against teams like Temple and Coastal Carolina.

Tebow is considered to have "below average arm strength" and "below average accuracy," not to mention a throwing motion that Byron Leftwich thinks is slow. Is that what you want in your QB? I saw the Sportscenter with Gruden just like I saw the one today with McCoy. He didn't make any throws! He interviewed, did some drills (hot potato, 7-step drop), but no real throws to speak of. If that - and his record as a spread offense running QB at Florida - makes you want to draft him, then you probably shouldn't be running an NFL draft. But the intangibles (i.e. leadership) are only relevant if you have the tangibles (arm strength, accuracy, can read a defense) in the first place. Tommie Frazier led his team to two national titles and three national title MVP's. Would you want him as your starting QB?

Tim Tebow can't throw. Kind of a problem for your QB, isn't it?

I was with you until the trade talk. And Rubes is right, if no one wants to trade up there's not much you can do about it (don't be the Cleveland Browns and trade down just for the sake of trading down without getting equal value). You certainly don't need a top 4 OT but if it comes down to it I don't see the problem with drafting one (as long as it's not an Andre Smith (i.e. guaranteed bust) situation). Keep in mind, your third day draft selections are extremely watered down compared to rounds 1-3 and you can only have 53 men on the final roster, so stockpiling mediocre players doesn't really benefit you all that much. Trading Marshawn and Whitner don't help the problem. They are both talented and will see the field - Marshawn will get up to 50% of the carries or more, depending on performance/injuries, and Whitner will see significant time at SS (or FS on obvious running downs). Trading them for third day draft selections isn't addition by subtraction, it's subtraction by subtraction. Don't forget, you need depth in this league to succeed.

Maybe try the early bird special at the country kitchen buffet?

Except that they missed on their top pick, a gimme pick, a player that could have been a foundation for years to come.

Buffalo Bills Top needs: T, QB, NT, WR, OLB, RB First round (9): OT Bryan Bulaga Second round (41): QB Tim Tebow Third round (72): WR Damian Williams Fourth round (107): TE Anthony McCoy Summary: The Bills should do the smart thing and upgrade at tackle with Bulaga. Even if Jimmy Clausen is still there, Bulaga is a guy who can upgrade the pass protection from day one. I don't see the Tebow pick as a reflection of him being ready. He's not. Someone will reach on his potential. He needs a long time to figure it out, but his intangibles are off the charts and you can't put it past him. Williams is perhaps the most refined route-runner in the draft. McCoy is a pro-style TE out of USC and continues to improve. He has showed an ability to get down the field, not just work underneath. I don't think Ginn is a bad receiver, actually, I just think - well, I know - he's not a bonafide #1. I wouldn't mind bringing him in as a potential #2 to compete with Stevie J. and Frankenstein, but it would have to be a real low-risk move - no higher than a third-day pick. He reminds me of Peerless Price. Small stature, very fast, good hands, afraid of contact, can certainly get open against single coverage. Solid deep threat.
-
Patrick Willis is *not* on the trading block.
-
I can't dispute anything you just said. I would just say that Ginn's production as a #1 (facing the opposition's top CB) has far surpassed Parrish's production facing LB's, S's, and backup DB's. I know he gets less playing time, but still. I'll still take "sorta useless" over "completely useless."
-
not last season...
-
Parrish was a second rounder. And Ginn is the better WR, by far.
-
Not if they had taken Patrick Willis...or Derrelle Revis....

If it's Spiller at 9...

+1 I hope you're right. -
Tim, Maybe you can explain to me this obsession with unloading a pro-bowl RB in his prime for little more than third day draft fodder. He's under contract until 2013, he's certainly capable of shouldering the load (although would more likely split carries with Jackson), our cup isn't exactly runneth over with talent and have other holes to fill, and we play in a league where you need two solid RB's to compete, not to mention the fact that our other RB is nearly 30. He hasn't exactly been a model citizen, but I'm not sure how that really matters come game day. He hasn't been a cancer in the locker room, he hasn't **** on Buffalo for being a small town (but rather embraced it), and that whole $20 thing seems suspect (why would a millionaire on thin ice as it is steal $20?) to me (I'm not saying it didn't happen, it just seems weird, that's all). I'm not going to say he's the greatest guy ever, but he's no Rae Carruth, and I'm not sure the Bills are in a position to be jettisoning it's stars just yet. Do we really want guys like Ken Simonton and Shaud Williams taking a large number of snaps next year or waste a high draft pick on a RB when we have so many holes to fill just because the team is too proud to swallow some pride with Lynch? Thoughts?

I know what it's called. In this particular case, it's also called "not funny." -
You still think Bulaga will be gone by #9? And you think he's an LT of the future? What about the other top four LT's (forget Okung - he'll be long gone)?
