The NFL Network (I caved and got it tonight) said Philly is looking to trade up to get a safety. Now, Eric Berry won't fall to us, but if he did (he won't), a trade would be a lot more likely. According to the NFL draft chart (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/draft06/news/story?id=2410670), our 9th overall pick would be worth Philly's 1st rounder (#24), their first 2nd rounder (#29), and their 4th rounder (#119). Just sayin'.

I don't think Tebow will be a successful NFL player, not at QB at least. But he was by far the best interview. I didn't get the impression that Clausen had the same leadership or presence in the huddle. This can't be quantified (which was my actual question if you look back - there's a difference between quantifying something and defining it), so I don't have any "stats" to back up either's intangibles, or lack thereof. It's believed widespread that Tebow's intangibles are the best of the draft class. I'm not sure what you don't understand here.

Actually, statistics are far more valuable than the anecdotal evidence you point to. We all heard your clip before about the 98 yard pass and the run against Miami. I remember those plays, I was there (for the latter at least; for the first one I was watching on television). If you're not sold on Campbell, that's fine. I'm not sold on him 100% either. But I believe if he came in there's a pretty good chance he'd win the starting job, and for a third day draft choice, I see very little down-side to this. By the way, way to cherry-pick which stats are important. Your x wins out of x games is completely irrelevant. Last I heard, football was a team game, and Campbell certainly outplayed Fitzpatrick this year and over the course of their respective careers.

If New England offered a 2nd for Lynch?

If New England offered a 2nd for Lynch?
Leonidas replied to clearwater cadet's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because Lynch is young and has a lot in the tank, his best days are likely in front of him, and the only position NE has had trouble filling lately on offense is RB - why help them? -
It was about Tebow, not Clausen. You're not asking me to quantify Tebow's intangibles in your first line...right?

Compare college stats between the two. Campbell had a fantastic senior year at Auburn. Edwards did nothing at Stanford. Then look at their NFL stats. It isn't even close. I'm willing to give Edwards another chance, but I'm also more than willing to give Campbell - a consummate professional - a chance, especially for a third-day draft pick. That's insane. Fitz isn't half the QB Campbell is. Actually, interceptions are pretty important. As are yards. And completion percentage. But otherwise you're spot on...as usual. God I hate these acronyms. What the hell does YWIA mean??? Link? Apparently "football smart" is completing 56% of his passes while throwing more interceptions than TD's and having a QB rating less than 70.

If New England offered a 2nd for Lynch?

Absolutely not. Sending a talented 23 year old power back to a division rival in his prime? No thanks. Not worth the second round pick. Not even close. -
Rapelisberger could still be suspended
Leonidas replied to mike oxhurtz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, no, but this is way beyond the accusation stage. With details trickling out it's pretty difficult not to be appalled at what's being leaked. Most of us aren't naive enough to think that athletes don't get special privileges in cases like these. You must have been psyched when OJ was freed so he could find the real killer. -

Lynch's act was not nearly as reprehensible as Roethlisberger's. Lynch isn't the brightest of guys, I get that, but the matter of intentionally assaulting a drunk college student, which in and of itself presents multiple immoral components (intent, assault, the fact that it was a naive, drunk college girl), is far more serious. -
Excellent comparison. Joe Montana at ND and Tebow at Florida were the exact same QB. I think it's a lack of leadership that gets most people. He doesn't have Tebow's intangibles. I don't hate Clausen, I'm just not sold on him as our franchise QB. No offense, but WalterFootball is just some guy with a blog. I actually like his mock drafts, they're much better than some of the other ones out there, but he hasn't been vetted or interviewed for the job, he isn't paid to do this. I'll trust CBS Sports and ESPN over WalterFootball.com. Especially when on his "very good deep ball accuracy" point, that's just blatantly false.

Well, according to McShay, Skelton (Fordham) has the strongest arm in the draft, followed by Brown (WVU) and Clark (PSU), McShay said his arm strength is "below average" and Kiper said he has "not great arm strength." CBS Sports says "his lack of arm strength that has scouts concerned." The few games I've seen him play I've never seen anything resembling a cannon, although it's not as bad as his accuracy. If you've talked to "every scout in the NFL" and they say otherwise then I apologize.

Raiders best fit for Campbell? 8:16AM ET Jason Campbell | Redskins | Interested: 49ers?, Jaguars?, Raiders?, Vikings?, Bills?, Browns?, Panthers? Top Email After the Redskins' trade for Donovan McNabb, the kneejerk reaction was that Jason Campbell was not long for Washington, D.C. The Washington Post's Jason Reid reported later in the week that Campbell's agent had been given the green light to explore trade opportunities for Campbell, and on Monday, the QB signed his RFA tender, clearing a final hurdle to his being traded. Possible destinations for Campbell * Oakland: Lost out on McNabb, other options aren't too encouraging * Buffalo: Campbell's not from California! * Minnesota: You know, in case Favre doesn't come back * Carolina: ESPN's NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas thinks Campbell is worth a shot for the Panthers, possibly with a mid-round pick * Jacksonville: David Garrard's not getting any younger, although Michael C. Wright tweets that the Jags aren't interested Both Oakland and Buffalo (which pick consecutively in the first round, appropriately enough) need a QB upgrade, but could also take a tackle with their first pick. And of course, there is the chance of a team biding its time and getting into the mix later (say, a Favre-less Minnesota Vikings, if they see Campbell as an upgrade over the Tarvaris Jackson-Sage Rosenfels duo). ESPN.com's Matt Mosley thinks it'll take a fourth-rounder for Campbell, and throws the 49ers and Browns into the list of possibly interested teams. ESPN's John Clayton concurs with the price tag, noting that a mid-round pick could probably get it done. Assessing the different possibilities, Jeremy Green of Scouts, Inc. thinks that the Raiders' offensive philosophy is the best match for Campbell's game: Jeremy Green He's got the big arm Al Davis loves "While it is hard to get excited about any player going to Oakland because of the nature of the Raiders organization, the down-the-field throwing style they ask from the QB in the offensive system does suit Campbell's skill set the best. Campbell is a pocket passer with a strong arm who throws a good deep ball, which is the No. 1 requirement in the Raiders' offensive system." Len Pasquarelli It's possible he stays in D.C., too "It might be a long shot, but there is some chance that Jason Campbell will stay in Washington as McNabb's backup. His potential aside, as well as the feeling in some quarters (including this one) that he can be a productive starter, the Washington brass is having some trouble so far stirring up much interest in the five-year veteran. Some teams could be waiting for Washington to release him, and that might be a mistake." Mel Kiper Jr. This could affect Clausen's stock "There really isn't a situation now for Campbell where you feel he could land as a good bet to get first-team reps. Arizona and Seattle have already addressed depth, and even a team like Carolina seems intent on letting Matt Moore take the reins. I don't think it'll be hard for Campbell to find work, but he's close to getting that 'journeyman' tag. Could he get a call from Oakland? If so, Jimmy Clausen could be affected once again."

From ESPN Insider: More teams after Ginn? 4:39PM ET Ted Ginn Jr. | Dolphins | Interested: Cardinals?, Buccaneers?, Ravens?, Panthers?, Chiefs? Top Email Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald corresponded with an anonymous NFL personnel man who indicated the Miami Dolphins "might" be able to get a fifth-rounder for Ted Ginn. And the word "might" was emphasized twice. If that's the price tag (or if it's even lower), there could be some very interested teams. As we know, the Dolphins are reportedly shopping the WR, according to a report from Jason La Canfora of NFL.com. We aregued that the arrival of Brandon Marshall in Miami may accelerate Ginn's departure, even though Ginn wasn't much of a receiving weapon in 2009. Ginn has shown some ability in the return game, with two kick return TDs, and he's regarded as quite a speedster by most observers. In examining the teams that could be interested in Ginn, perhaps it's more useful to see which teams need the help in the return phase as opposed to who necessarily needs a WR. Going on that line of thinking, ESPN's AFC West blogger Bill Williamson speculated that the Kansas City Chiefs might be a good fit, while Mike Berardino of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel chimes in with the Baltimore Ravens (with Cam Cameron, who drafted Ginn and his family ninth overall, as OC) and Carolina Panthers. Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com writes that he makes a bit of sense for the Arizona Cardinals as a weapon in the return game, but his current salary is a bit high. How about an in-state move to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers? ESPN's NFC South blogger Pat Yasinskas says to keep your eyes on that possibility: Pat Yasinskas Makes sense logically "I'm definitely keeping my eyes and ears open on this one. Ginn doesn't come with baggage and it sure looks likely that the Dolphins are trying to move him. Ginn never quite lived up to his draft status and his skill set doesn't fit with the current Miami offense. But there is some talent there and you could throw him into the mix with Reggie Brown, Michael Clayton and all those other receivers the Bucs have and see who rises up as the No. 2 guy (while still looking for an answer at No. 1). I think this one is at least a possibility, although it's hard to imagine the Bucs parting with any of their draft picks."

Tebow is clearly the best interview out of the whole bunch. Too bad his arm strength and accuracy are "below average," not to mention the windup. Clausen came off like a little girl in the interview. My favorite was when he asked McCoy "what are you, 5-10, 5-11?" and all McCoy could say was "come on, man..."

+1 What he said. Shut the hell up, CS. Assuming you're not kidding, you're a horrible !@#$ing human being. -
McShay and Kiper have both said Bulaga might have to be a RT. It also seems Anthony Davis is the Andre Smith of this draft. At this point, it seems if Okung and T. Williams aren't available at #9, I'd look toward getting an OT in the second round instead (maybe Bruce Campbell) and focus on another position of need (maybe NT).

If it's Spiller at 9...
Leonidas replied to South Jersey Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Actually, dickhead, I read - and comprehended - your post just fine. It's just that your desire to see someone with flash is negated by the desire of the rest of the rational fans to win games, and you don't win games without winning in the trenches. We shouldn't have drafted McGahee is the first round, we shouldn't have drafted Lynch in the first round, and having two very good RB's in the backfield and a pourous offensive and defensive line, we sure as **** don't need to be drafting Spiller in the first round. Maybe it works in Madden but in real life football the lines are the most important (besides QB - that's a different argument, and all are more important than the RB anyway.) "Linemen can be found"...yet they haven't been. Not good ones at least. And not by this team. RB is the only hole we don't have on offense, yet people keep clamoring to fill it and justify doing so by trading away some of our other talent at the position for a mere fourth round draft pick (where I'm sure we'll just stumble upon another one of those lineman that are "found" there). Priceless. -
There has got to be a more efficient way for you to respond in these forums than creating a separate post for every single comment...

Yeah, let's just field a team of running backs... -
Ummm that's not what he said at all. Bruce Campbell is an athletic freak. Without saying it specifically, he referred to Campbell as a workout warrior and said he just wasn't a good left tackle. I got the impression that he's a more refined Jason Peters coming out of college - someone that had the physical skills but was extremely raw and wouldn't be ready to play in 2010 for sure.
