So why was Amari Cooper traded twice in his prime?
Mr. WEO replied to PoundingDog's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's a legit #1, for the Bills purpose. But he has bad hands. He's dropped 30 passes in under 3 seasons---10 already this year! His catch percent is in the Gabe Davis range---and Buffalo fans "ran him out of town" for that performance. -
Is Tom Brady Part Owner of Raiders a Conflict of Interest?

OK, how does one cheat as a color commentator/owner? Flesh that comment out for me... -
Do QBs lose consideration for having the most passing attempts? Of course not. So why should we even mention 191 (not 200) targets for a WR as exclusionary criteria for MVP? That number of targets is close to what the top receivers get every season. And he caught an incredible 76% of them them year. A "product of the QB"? Well every WR is a product of their QB---why bring it up? Stafford had Megatron for years in Detroit--one of the greatest ever. No triple crown. You could say Brady had his best year in 2021....if you didn't know 2007 existed: 50 TDs (a record at the time) vs only 8 ints, 69% completion, 4800 yards on only 578 attempts, undefeated. The only reason Kupp didn't win is because these chumps who vote have never voted a WR as MVP. It's a QB award. But yeah, Brady should have gotten it over Rodgers in 2021, by these criteria.

cowboys coming off 3 12 win seasons in a row. not his forte, to put it mildly... -
MVP doesn't consider playoff performance---votes are counted before the playoffs start.. So, he should have gotten MVP based on his regular season Triple Crown. It's incredibly unique. Rodgers didn't even have his best season, nor did Brady. Kupp should have been a no brainer. They are 7-10 in the games he has missed since then. Now the Rams are calling it quits and looking (laughably) to unload a totally washed Stafford.

Kupp had the receiver triple crown that year. Only 4 players have done this in 60 years. This was in the regular season....

Apparently the Giants are cutting Boogie
Mr. WEO replied to Snappysnackcakes's topic in The Stadium Wall
it's probably because, as opposed to the Bills, despite the misses, the Chiefs can't stop winning Lombardys..... -
Rodgers over Kupp 2021 was the worst.

he's done. who cares?

If Brian Daboll gets fired, would you take him as OC?
Mr. WEO replied to Doc's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think what we are disagreeing on is Dan Jones, at any time in his career, being a "win now" proposition. He just isn't and never was. Daboll and Schoen believing he was is their problem. No one else in the NFL thought this was the case. Everyone saw this guy play--and how the Giants played after the bye in 2022. Cheers! -

Proving your point?? Tyrod (who had a similarly "decent" year in 2017), led the Bills to their first playoff game in almost 2 decades. He didn't get 40 million because the Bills FO understood that those numbers are backup QB numbers (drafting the next franchise QB would be the following spring) and only 3 people on earth are dumb enough to pay that much for that mediocre play from a QB who had been bad the 3 years previously. So, to recap, The Bills didn't pay their Daniel Jones level QB (even though they broke the drought with him) because they knew they could do better with a rookie in the upcoming draft. The Giants brain trust, in contrast, decided to wildly overpay/re-sign their barely mediocre QB because he won a playoff game, instead of drafting his sorely needed replacement. They have been 3-10 with him starting since they resigned him--2 years ago.. He's as terrible as ever, which makes this a completely avoidable error. -

he can't even run any more--averaging an anemic 3.7 per. -

They are backup level QBs, which is the point. So is Jones. Tua, Murray, Herbert, Lawrence all got huge contracts...zero playoff wins. But at least you can point to some points in their careers where they were putting up numbers. Danny Dimes never has. He's been putting up Tyrod Taylor on the Bills numbers. Who offered Tyrod 40 million for that? You can't with a straight face say "wow, Daniel Jones has really fallen off from his 2022 season. His performance now is shocking". Nor could you claim that the Giants are better off this year with Jones and Nabers than, say, Penix and a FA WR---especially after the Giants brain trust got rid of the offense when the let Barkley go. -

They aren't. They are Mac Jones numbers. Mariota numbers. Andy Dalton numbers. Brock Purdy had nearly as many passing TDs in only 5 games. These are/were all backup quality guys at the time. It wasn't even Jones's best season! He's had one season with over 15 TD passes. How many starting NFL QBs keep getting handed the ball year after year with those numbers? He's awful. -

He and the Giants were terrible down the stretch--they won 3 of their last 9 games. He was a bad QB in 2021 and 2020. He didn't fall off a cliff....he never made it to the edge of a cliff. Then he was injured. Now he's back and he still sucks. All of this was predictable. -

Jones sucks. this was known. the answer is that neither combo can possibly win "this year", gun or none. -

maybe you are redefining "obviously"? they've won 2 games. they have the League's worst Offense. how does this give them "a better chance to win now"? -

Saleh has been on the hottest of seats for 2 seasons. There's no chance at all Douglas was surprised by this. Johnson was on the phone with Rodgers the night before he fired Salih---and Rodgers also, comically, claims he didn't know. Anyway, the Mara family doesn't have a history of being particularly meddling. Even if Daboll hated Jones, he could have drafted a QB at 6 this year and just rode out Jones's next 2 years. But he didn't.... Jones is Daboll's guy at the time of that contract signing. -

Looking at Jones's production even in that prove it year, the owner would have seen far less in Jones than the guys he pays to inform him. Also, the Giants could have corrected their mistake, if Daboll was truly down on Jones, by picking a QB at 6. They again rolled the dice with Jones by picking him a WR. -

i don't accept that the HC and GM you recently hired would be given no choice over the most important decision they could be asked to make. As it happened, the Giants didn't pick up his 5th year, making his 4th season his "prove it " year. They won a playoff game and the FO quickly rewarded him with a new contract.
