  1. Certainly one of the more bizarre Bills roster moves (keeping this guy around so long) in memory.
  2. I think there is no chance that owners like Pegula, Blank, Kroenke, etc sit quietly and meekly by while 3-4 other owners “pull all the strings” on their business. Zero point zero chance. These are collective decisions because each decision affects everyone’s money
  3. the money always flows the other way

    Ut oh
  5. There's a spectrum that exists between "NFL team (likely bluffing) leaving" and "the biggest state funding of an NFL stadium in US history"...
  6. I didn't mean to go too too heavy on the math. And I will tell you, Amazon DID end up buying a building on 5th avenue for a billion dollars of its own money for 3500 new workers/taxpayers. I'm sure they have some sort of public space/lobby--maybe even a gift shop you can visit from out of state. Pretty sure they even have a bunch of restaurants in Manhattan (maybe not as good as Anchor Bar or Mighty Taco) you could go to while you're there. Hotels nearby too, I think. Check it out!
  7. Name a single owner who wants to bring up the topic of team finances/accounting methods with the public or it's elective representatives.
  8. Well.....Amazon isn't a tourist attraction that you visit. It's a place of business that was intending to bring in 25,000+ jobs averaging $150,000 (that alone would bring in $150million in NYC income tax per year), not a rarely used entertainment venue employing a few dozen concession workers and maintenance folks. But if the above is your argument, yeah--this is a pointless debate.
  9. They usually make deals to lessen their tax burden going forward (think Amazon in Queens). It's not common for municipalities to hand them their building costs in a large suitcase. Plus, corporations are usually open for business in their new building more than 10 days a year.
  10. Get back in the pumpkin with this weak ****
  11. What about the "Buffalo Billion" (dollars) from only 5-6 years ago? Why?
  12. Remember when John Brown was "Smoke"? Yeah... I've read you can't teach speed....
  13. These are predictable results: solid majorities against in every major city except Buffalo, where 1/3 polled don't want it either....and they are getting a new stadium.
  14. NYC actually funded far more than the NYS on those downstate projects. So downstate NYS reps are not wrong to criticize the state's massive involvement in a stadium in Buffalo. I bet they would be happy to support Hochul on this one if Erie County was kicking in 650 million and the state only 200 mill.
  15. Agreed, but constructing this is pouring public money into the drain. Its a 1.35 billion monument to what amounts to extortion. Build the same amount in housing. Instant value to many who actually helped fund it, that last way beyond the trucks pulling away and the ribbon cutting.
  16. As your link spells out in its headline: "state is NOT historically a big funder of stadiums".. Posters who keep on tossing out Mets and Yankees should spend a little more time reading about how those stadiums were actually funded. lol--the state of the Pegula Lifestyle Fund, perhaps..
  17. Who wouldn't tune into a game because of the announcers? I don't understand that.
  18. So construction for construction's sake? Just build something to reap some small local bump unto the project is completed? Why not build something with value? You get the construction period increase in the local economy ands then the intrinsic value the structure you paid to have built? Isn't that intuitively a better way to spend the money?
  19. the topic is how the Rams put together that team and whether its sustainable. A one and done may or may not be satisfactory ROI. Adding Wagner doesn't equal balling out, unless you mean in winning the off season. They used 2 different approaches to those SBs..
  20. Than a publicly funded NFL stadium? The funded stadium as a local economic stimulant has been disproven for years---and it has been posted one here endlessly. Considering how they are used (spare us the tired old "stadium concerts and bowl games" stuff), it an extremely limited use object that generates zero revenue for nearly every day of its existence. It's an asset that has almost no value other than to it's sole rent paying tenant for which it was built.
  21. Well he turned a 4-12 Rex team into a 10-6 team with Fitz as his QB. But yeah! Imagine all the playoff wins if BB coached that Jets crew of Darnold, Chris Ivory, Quincy Enunwa and the dynamic duo of Cro-well and Po-well at RB!! Good point! Anyway, Arians wasn't looking so good before Brady dropped into his generous lap. TB still has Brady, their SB OC and DC (essentially). What was Arians doing on game day anyway other than focusing on keeping that defibrillator centered on his precordium?
  22. Won’t win with that strategy.
  23. well….they’ve balled out once so far
