Although he is not a immobile like a Brady, Manuel does not have anywhere near the running ability of TT (or Kap, Cam, Russell, etc). I seriously doubt that there would be many designed runs for EJ.
To be fair, BB has had a much more varied list of desired QBs over the years.
Colin Kaepernick
John Skelton
Tyler Wilson

Freddy is playing a bit role in Seatlle. Maybe 4-5 touches a game. Would expect his numbers to look decent with a limited role where he is not the go to back.
To be fair , it was not just BB who wanted to trade for Mallett in past. With his mythical upside--which still hasn't shown up-- Mallett was apparently worth as high as a 2nd rounder.
I would argue that there is no causality here and that Rodgers, Young , and even Tyrod only sat because the QB in front of them was considered better at the time.
Earlier this month, Astro had a pretty cool post on that included some stats for Freddie over past few seasons. Here is a link -> http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/topic/180538-astro-notes-for-preseason/?do=findComment&comment=3666815
In it you can clearly see that Freddie's productivity has been in a steady (sometimes steep) decline the past few seasons. Is it really worth it keeping someone because people are emotionally vested in him? Likely not.
Except that Freddy isn't a fullback and fullbacks typically play a much larger role beyond pass blocking.
There were a number of fans on this board who said that Maybin wasn't coached properly while he was with Bills and gave the example of his coverage sacks with the Jets as proof that he had been "coached up" .
