Peterman was taken in the 5th round because he had been evaluated to be a limited QB . Lots of other limited QBs drafted in his position never even get a chance to start before they are cut from a team to never come back to NFL . This is professional football. Not a professional job like doctor, lawyer, engineer, nurse, pilot, etc. In the regular working world, you may have decades to be productive and keep moving up. In pro sports, the window to play and succeed is very very small.

They had 11 bodies on both sides of the ball at all times. How many of those were actual players seems to be up for debate.

There is no reason to think that a 5th round pick will magically look like Drew Brees after churning out two of the worst QB performances ever . in fact very few 5th rounder QBs even get to see as much starting time as Nate has.
