Eagles officially choose Wentz over Foles
prissythecat replied to Alphadawg7's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I am pointing out the flaw in that line of thinking . A team that has Home field advantage throughout the playoffs has to win all of 3 games, 2 under home field advantage , to get a superbowl. Contrary to the cliches that the announcers like to say on air (e.g., players hit harder, rbs run faster, etc), the game is still the same. You are comparing 3 wins to an entire season's worth of work. The Eagles brass is not dumb. They chose Wentz over Foles for very good reasons. In fact , I would say that the odds are very good that Foles will be a flop with whatever team he signs with this coming season while Wentz gets back to his 2017 form. -

What exactly is a catchable ball? Also, how is Vontae Davis doing keeping his signing bonus? -

If we go by that line of thinking than there will be many one hit wonder QBs that should be considered HOF inductees -

Playing very well to get a team home field advantage is the easy part? Wentz hasn't done a thing? Amazing.... -

Ahh. so based on the eye test, Foles is the better player... This is actually an interesting idea. Should football teams look at having an "Eye Test" position so that they can find those gems that don't look good based on objective criteria but may actually contribute to team's success? -

If you throw out his rookie season. Wentz has an average QB rating over 100 for the past two seasons. Those are elite stats. Foles had one excellent season in 2013. Rest of the time he has been pretty pedestrian. In these past playoffs , despite some folks thinking that Foles had a magical run, his QB rating was 77 and 61 respectively. He didn't play well at all with the exception of that 1st quarter at NO. So not sure how Foles is the better player and the better long term choice? -
What Magic Doth Nick Foles Possess?

He would have been perfect for some of the OL players we had on roster at one point . Didnt we have Andy Levitre, Eric Wood, Ed Wang in the lineup one year -

Maybe but didn’t New Orleans also change how they were covering the Eagles receivers. Tighter coverage so Foles couldn’t just chuck the Ball up for grabs. -

I like this line of reasoning . Didn’t Tebow have the highest T QBR in the 4th quarter ? -

What are his stats over his career ? Mostly average except for the one season with Andy Reid ? Some foolish team will probably look at the same cherry picked stars and sign him for big bucks and be disappointed. -
Rams & Chiefs Offensive Lines

You mean teams shouldn’t use their high first round pick in a guy that plays patty cake ? -

Wait I thought you need to find or draft elite guys like Jason Peters and then pay them. At least according to our football experts . Interesting that a number of teams advancing in playoffs are not following this. -
Who was GM when Jason Peters was dealt?
prissythecat replied to LabattBlue's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Really good question and point . I would say that teams may want to rethink using high first pick on an OT given how game is now .More impact seems to come from QB , pass rush , WR, even RB- I know folks want to argue that RBs are a dime a dozen though . -

Are teams who invest large mounts of money in the LT position more successful than those who have scrubs LT on roster? Surprisingly, the answer is investment in LT does not translate to success. https://www.si.com/nfl/2015/09/16/left-tackle-value So it seems silly for everyone to clamor for throwing money at LTs when there are other more impactful ways to spend the money. -

Peters has certainly collected his share of accolades. But at the end of the day, did he really make that big of an impact? Who was the LT last year when Philly made their run? I have seen lots of teams either win or make it to the SuperBowl with replacement level LT talent. Joe Thomas , a contemporary of Peters also considered to be elite, sure contributed to an awesome run of SuperBowls and multiple deep playoff runs in Cleveland didn't he? At this point, who cares if the Bill traded away an LT who they thought was an ass. Now If it was a QB that would go on to have a career like say a Brees or Steve Young, that would be another matter. -
Except that Goff was a rookie... Foles was not. Also, Vince Young who was not a good QB, had his best years under Fisher?

Sunday NFC Wild Card: Eagles at Bears 4:40 NBC
prissythecat replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its a playoff game in the Saints dome where they rarely lose. They also don't have an anemic offense like the Bears. Chances are that they will blow the doors off Philly. But hey maybe Foles and his package will have some magic left . -

We want Foles because of his package size?
