  1. You know what really made me happy besides Miller helping USA win? It was seeing Drury be the first one to celebrate with Miller AND THE WAY THEY CELEBRATED WITH EACH OTHER once the buzzer sounded, that was really special. Despite all of the contract stuff, I miss Drury on the Sabres.
  2. Well, the only thing in the last sentence that stands out is the 'Woah'. Nix does not elicit 'Woah's'. Someone like Parcells, Belicheck, Polian, or Pioli might generate 'Woah's'.
  3. Buffalo Sabres. Baseball sucks, and I could care less about Basketball.
  4. I'm not with you on this: it's called age. Thurman was a huge part of the K-Gun, but in his elder years the Bills allowed him to flounder down to Miami for a couple of unproductive seasons. LT is just getting too old to keep playing (and more importantly earning the big bucks).
  5. Win-Loss record.

  7. Yeah, he left the game and I can remember some statement about the death of his best friend Pat Tillman. Something about him realizing that there were things more important than football, etc. He was walking away for Pat, or something like that. I can also recall reading somewhere where he was very disillusioned by the global, big business side of the NFL and wanting to separate himself from that. I think that I picked it up from a book written by a journalist that was invited to be a field goal kicker with the Broncos a couple of years ago. He wrote about the inner workings of an NFL team, and it was an interesting read. But Plummer certainly pulled a Barry Sanders. Though inconsistent, Plummer was a good QB in AZ and Denver.
  8. Offense: Mike Williams Defense: Erik Flowers
  9. I don't mind trading Lynch for a proven player. HOWEVER...Cromartie would NOT be that player. A LB, NT, Tackle, or someone of that kind of position would be more desired.
  10. Holdonasecond! Where are we getting this information that San Diego and the Bills are even talking about a trade of Marshawn? Link?
  11. Sad. He was one of the few bright spots drafted on the offensive line in the past 15 years. HE had the right demeanor too. I liked the idea of him at RT and Wood at RG. That was a mean right side. Ah well.
  12. Agreed. But let's hope that the image Buddy and the Boys are starting to mold becomes a winner, and not a dud as Donahoe, Levy, etc have been responsible for the past 10 years.
  13. Oh, quit the crying. It's over with, and your apparent certainty that Marty wanted to come out of retirement is shaky at best. All reports...ALL except the one you must be quoting from (which is nothing but pure whispering and rumor-mongering), said that he was happy in retirement and had no desire to return to coaching. Leave the gossiping to the women, dude.
  14. And why is our side squandered so much, I wonder?
  15. Agreed. Too many predecessors have been too much "yes men" and gone with the flow. Now with Donahoe and Guy gone, and hopefully Overdorf put in his proper place, we have an organizational structure that is built to succeed. I like the Whaley signing from a team that always seems to strike it big on free agent signings and draft picks.
  16. It will be interesting to see what takes place in the next year or two. On the one hand, the Bills could really use a move out of Orchard Park and into the actual City they are named after. The NFL is an entity, and as an entity needs to continually feed to survive. That being said, with the economy of the nation as it is and looks to remain for some time (if not get worse), there simply may not be any option for the NFL to expand...holding a City hostage or not. Ah heck...maybe China will step up to the plate.
  17. Who cares about numbers? I want wins. I want a leader. Living here in DC, I see firsthand that Campbell is capable of neither. His career improved this past season because of Sherm Lewis.
  18. I'm not sure what you mean by the last sentence? Are you suggesting those as possible sites, or are you commenting on the roadways....????? I read a history book about Buffalo. City On The Edge, I believe it was called. It was amazing to read how the original plans and the overwhelming majority of local folk all planned and believed the waterfront was the ideal location for the UB campus. It was all planned up, when for some reason, the NY State Regents board (in Albany) decided to pick Amherst; despite all of the planning, evidence, and insight suggesting the waterfront would have been better. A good reason why was never provided. I say, let Niagara Falls become Las Vegas East. You already have a wonderful back-drop and reason why people will come every year. I don't see why (unless part of some ridiculous, socialist idea to "share the wealth" with Canada) the US side of the Falls has to be so crappy. For alot of people, the Falls will be the 1st time seeing the United States. Since we are supposed to be the leading proponent of a free market, shouldn't our side destroy the Canadian? Why is WNY not maximizing its dollars and income to the greatest dollar? Build as many Casinos in Niagara Falls as possible, providing that they return a good chunk to the City and region to support Fire, Police services and help to bulldoze all of the slums and build some nice homes and restaurants, and businesses in that area. Then, if you want to build a high speed train, let it connect the Falls to a downtown Buffalo with the Bills, Sabres, and Bisons. And could you imagine the spillover to WNY from keeping these dollars in WNY? Move the Bills stadium to downtown Buffalo.
  19. Yeah, what do you make of those statements? He also stated that he thought he could have been a much more productive player if he had been used as a rush-type of linebacker, would not have had to play against 300+ lb tackles all of the time, can get a better "edge" to rush with, etc. He sounds like Marv Levy once quoted about someone thinking about retirement. If you're thinking about it, you're already retired. Woulda, coulda, shoulda.... I hope he does NOT retire.
  20. ...and juice....
  21. I wouldn't go so far as to call all season ticket holders as smart, as it does seem that TO drew quite a bit of attention with his signing last season- myself included. But Nix has already said how he was going to build the team: through the draft. Indeed, Nix's tenure in beautiful San Diego was built that way, and rather quickly, and by keeping free agent signings as stop-gap, solid player-type of deals. Switching to a 3-4, and with the tackle holes that we have on our offensive line, I would not be surprised to see the bulk of any free agent signings to be on the defensive side of the ball. Parcells builds a team the same way. He reaches out to players he is familiar with that can establish the type of environment he strives for, then builds and replaces these players when they eventually fade. That is why I would not have a problem with a 1-2 year deal for a Jeff Garcia and/ or a Joey Porter. If it has worked for Parcells, there is no reason why it would not work in Buffalo and Nix/ Whaley. As long as they don't blow this and get some Vick or Campbell, I'm stoked about this upcoming offseason and draft! GO BILLS!
  22. I would love to see the Bills upgrade the stadium...to DOWNTOWN Buffalo on the waterfront. Perhaps slightly south smack dab in all of those brown fields left behind by the steel companies. It would be right on the waterfront, clean up the area, and give downtown Buffalo another needed boost to spur some development and business in the city. I don't know ultimately why Orchard Park was selected over Buffalo. I guess it's the same flawed logic that had UB going to Amherst and not the waterfront.
  23. Signing Jason Campbell would give me reason to suddenly re-think my ideas of renewing my NFL Sunday Ticket this Fall despite Guy being gone, Nix promoted, Whaley's hiring, and the coaching moves.
  24. Who are you kidding?!!? Last time I checked, a diesel truck does not drive around with a weapon in its trunk, or drive drunk and hit canadiens.
