Why would we want Quinn? He's an even suckier version of the JP model we had here for a few years too many....

Signings like Cornell Green are why the Bills are terrible
Red replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Its negative attitudes like this that will need to be disproven with production on the field. Though I do appreciate your input, putting faith in any personnel moves that the Raiders make is assinine at best. This is the team that allowed Walker to come to Buffalo, only to resign him when he was cut by us. Al Davis is still looking to duplicate those early 90's WR's of the Raiders that could stretch the field with their track speed. Now, I don't question your negativity, as the past decade has clearly given us nothing to have hope in, but I would rather wait until the season starts to actually assess our free agents and draft choices. This is, after all, a new regime with a proven guy in Nix running the show and Gailey running the 'O'. I don't see this as another Dockery signing. -
Signings like Cornell Green are why the Bills are terrible
Red replied to billsfreak's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
And this is really a key point as Mr. Senility himself- Al Davis- does still have a percentage in the goings on at Raiders nation and still makes calls on personnel. Trying to make the Raiders as some sensible franchise betrays both history and logic. -
Please, please, PLEASE tell me that you are not of the ignorant vein to see a snake in front of your eyes and call it a mouse. You don't honestly believe the NFL hogwash that it's a 'clean' league, do you?
-
Agreed. You're not putting on 6 lbs/ week unless you've got a syringe IV'd to your glutes or you're also putting on pounds of bodyfat. What I want to know, is how college players get juiced. The 'gear' is not cheap, and last time I checked college NCAA rules prohibit outside work for players on an athletic scholarship. Watching the NFL combine, it's become what modern bodybuilding is: a freak show. The QB's are juicing, and there was some WR that was like 230 lbs and looked like a LB. Reminds me of that wideout that once played for Miami and San Diego that was up to 240 lbs and was caught juicing. His career ultimately ended prematurely, but enough is enough! How is it that these college players are getting juiced? Who pays for it? And how can they be sure of a return on their investment with the slim chances of a player ever even getting picked and being retained in the NFL?
-
Atleast he got rid of that dumb mohawk. Man, the guy is too lean. Now, I'm not advocating the Pozluzny regimen of steroids to gain weight; but you're not gaining 6 lbs. a week unless: 1.) some of it is increased bodyfat (he looks pretty lean) - or - 2.) you're juicing. I was watching the NFL combine the other day. Amazing how now even college QB's feel the need to be juiced. Tebow, LeFevour. Pike was the only one to look natural. Do we really need 'roided QB's?

Report: Bills pay Kelsay $500,000 roster bonus
Red replied to bobcat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Maybe he'll be more productive as an OLB. -
I will trust Buddy Nix and Whaley on this draft. Though I don't trust Modrak, Tebow plays in the SEC which has always been Buddy's territory. Buddy did pretty good with Rivers. I don't personally like the idea of Tebow, as we have huge chunks of land to fill on both the offensive and defensive lines. But I will give the new regime the benefit of the doubt at this point in time.

Rich Gannon on Sirius Today Talking About Maybin
Red replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I can't believe the Orakpo thing. Living in DC, I get the 'Skins game by default. I watched a few this past year, and I have to tell you that Orakpo is the real deal. He blew up some good tackles out there with a mean bull rush, and also zipped past a few with a nice speed rush. That was a real boner of a draft pick. Instead of Maybin, Orakpo or Oher should have been the choices. Just like drafting Whitner instead of Ngata was an idiot move a couple of years ago. Can you imagine our defensive line with Ngata and Orakpo? OR an offensive line with Wood AND Oher? Here's to hoping that the new front office won't be making the wrong choices -
NO. Washed up. HE can be flushed like all of the Vick lovers out there...down the toilet.

Exactly. Nix has said that improvement will happen, but it will not be overnight. It almost reminds me of the Regier comments when they re-signed Tim Connolly last season. The Sabres examined the market, and determined that there was no one better that was going to be available so they decided to keep him. Insurance. I think Ellison is insurance for the next season or two until someone better becomes available. Heck, they could always move him to safety

Bills do not tender Incognito, Jonathan Scott
Red replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I have to admit, to not tender Incognito after the offensive line woes we have is a bit strange, and there is a small part of me that is bummed that Incognito was not tendered but Ellison was. However, this is a new front office, with Nix and Whaley running the show. Incognito was a stop-gap solution at RG after we lost Wood for the season. He was waived by the Rams for his emotional struggles on the field. He supposedly has all of the talent in the world, but can't seem to control himself. At this point, with a new front office, I will trust that a plan is in place. -
When he becomes available, I think the Bills should pounce on him.
-
Mawae still produces, though, man. For a 1-2 year MAX deal, he could be an excellent stop-gap. And Center is one of those positions where age is not as much of a factor as say at RB or WR.
-
Yeah, I agree with that. Though I like the new coaching staff, the front office moves, etc...I will reserve my judgement until after the draft, and free agency starts. With their comments thus far, I would not expect the Bills to really make any huge splashes in free agency (Peppers, Wilfork, etc). I think it will be more of a solid, grinding type of players type of period, where bodies that can play are emphasized over any big names. The draft is where I think the gold mine will come from. I don't think QB is the biggest need. I'm not sold on any of these QB's coming out. I like a stud LT at #1, Gronkowski at #2, maybe trading someone already on the roster for another #2 for a solid defensive lineman, a reserve up and comer in the later rounds at RB...some real smash mouth guys that WILL start and dominate. Give me 22 Eric Woods and I think we will be fine.

"We cant do it all in one year"- Buddy Nix
Red replied to Kingfish's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The question does not make much sense. The organization is in disarray, and there are few positions on the team that could not use an upgrade. I would say that perhaps the biggest spot needing refinement (and even bodies) is on the defensive line. If Schobel, Kelsay, and Ellis are moving to OLB, our LB's will get stronger. But the D-Line will now have atleast 2 holes (DE, NT) to fill. The offensive line- particularly at the tackle position- are of grave concern. -
Oh come on! You have as much chance of success at that statement as I do claiming that he will solve our DL ills whenever he lines up! Give him and the Bills a chance, for Skooby's sake!

HAHAHA! I think those days are over with!

I agree. Edwards was given the reins BECAUSE Losman sucked so bad and was turnover prone, that Edwards consistency was a welcome sight for all involved. For me, there were several factors involved that led to Edwards struggles thus far: 1.) He was thrown into the fire from the start after Vince Wilfork injured Losman. To be thrown in for your first pro game against the Super Bowl Patriots 'D' is the definition of trial by fire. 2.) 4 offensive coordinators in 4 years, and the horrible play calling by said play callers cannot help a young QB develop confidence, etc. 3.) horrible offensive lines. It has been said many times- you can't play the position of QB effectively if you are constantly on your back. Buffalo has neglected the offensive line since the Super Bowl years and since Ruben Brown emigrated to Chicago. 4.) the Concussion. This was perhaps the biggest single setback for Trent, as before this he was calm under fire, consistent, accurate, and was willing to take shots both in the intermediate range and longer. 5.) No proven, NFL talent at QB coach. I like Sam Wyche, and I respect his legacy. But I don't think he is the best groomer of QB's. He was on the Bills staff for what, 1-2 years under Mularkey and then was never brought back. Now, something is better than nothing, as Jauron obviously felt that there was no need for a QB coach. Cortez seems to fit the bill for me, as he has groomed and been linked to SEVERAL successful names in the NFL. Now, I am not a Trent apologist, and if we sink the efforts of Cortez and an offense oriented towards Trents strengths under Gailey and he still sucks, then I say lose him quick and move on. But he still has 1 bargain year left on his contract. He is still young. He has shown stretches of brilliance pre-concussion. For the Bills and for our fandom's sake, I hope he succeeds. Why not give him 1 more year?

Got my authentic Ryan Miller USA hockey jersey in the mail today
Red replied to zow2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Watching the Olympics today, I feel the pain of Miller. He is IMO the current star of any Buffalo team, and his hard-working, classy, winner attitude was a fantastic way to showcase Buffalos real gold to the world. I felt the excitement when they beat Canada the first time, and Drury was the first one to come over and celebrate the victory, and I feel the pain in this loss. Then it hit me. With the volatility of today's professional sports, and players constantly jumping to other franchises for a few dollars more, I have shied away from dropping over $200+ on an authentic NHL Jersey. Not only is the cost ridiculous, but having a players name on your back when he leaves in a year or two after buying the jersey sure sucks. But should the Sabres ever decide to come out with the white version of the old Sabres logo (hint, hint), then I think that I will be dropping the loot necessary to get a #30 Miller version. Truly, truly a class act. -
I'm ok with this. We have to admit that teams have been unimpressed (to say the least) with our receiving corp with the exception of Evans for quite some time. Reed has been a part of that. Though I admire his toughness and blocking ability, saying he is a poor man's Hines Ward I think is a tad misrepresentative and overstating of his true abilities and limitations. Denney is also a gadget-type of player, IMO, and is too small to play the line in this defense. Sure, he had some nice flashes every now and then and could chip in from time to time with a nice play; but overall we could do better. Owens was, IMO, a half-hearted attempt of marketing over truly improving the football team. What I mean by that is, that $6.5 million could have been used to extend Peters' contract, or in finding some higher quality linemen. This is getting exciting, though. I am liking the coaching hires, the front office hires, the general feeling I get that the team now seems to genuinely gotten rid of its dead weight (Jauron, Guy), and gotten some really good positional coaches/ teachers in our ranks (DeHaven, Cortez, Strength coaches). Talking with Clausen, Gronkowski, the need to build the O-line, keeping some of our QB's already on the roster and truly developing them in a system, and even the talk about moving Marshawn for a high round pick is intriguing. What I love most about it is that what is exciting is really making moves to improve the team with competent people pulling the trigger. It's not marketing glitz, or a free agent/ trade scenario cast-off (Vick, TO) that is being implemented. Real football people making real football decisions. That's all I've wanted since 2000.

Bills Show Interest In Whitehurst, Tomlinson?
Red replied to Ghost of Rob Johnson's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like it. LT was always a class act, and we could certainly do alot worse than a back who can run and catch and has had the success that he has had in SD. Marshawn, though several years younger, would not be viewed as horrible IMO if he were to be traded for a higher round draft pick (mid-2nd or higher). The QB, though I admit to knowing nothing about him, sounds interesting if Buddy had been responsible for primarily scouting and drafting the kid. I like Nix's comments yesterday at the combine as well about trying to work with what they have on the roster with Edwards. I think that since he has 1 year left on his contract, has neither had a consistent offensive philosophy since his arrival nor an offensive line with which to work behind. Combine that with his relative lack of turnovers considering his young age- granted, the tendency to check down increases completion percentage and decreases chance of turnover- and I would like to see Edwards in a sound system, with a QB mentor like Cortez on the roster, and with a proven O-coordinator like Gailey, AND behind an improving offensive line. The draft would be a success in my opinion if we would get: 1.) a starting, Pro Bowl quality LT with pick #9. 2.) a dominant TE like Gronkowski in Round 2a 3.) IF Marshawn were to be traded for a 2nd rounder, a NT in Round 2b 4.) a starting RT in the early mid rounds 3-5 5.) and a RB in the later rounds who will eventually take over for Fred and LT (should he be signed and Marshawn traded). -

Whitner calls trade rumor "bathroom material"
Red replied to billsevans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What a bunch of ****. Whitner was #8 overall when he was drafted. You don't give that away for another Trent Edwards. -
LaVar Arrington speaks on Whitner, Campbell trade
Red replied to billsevans's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I really don't know where you are getting that from. Living in DC, I get the Redskins games every weekend. When I was done watching another Bills debacle, I would switch to the Redskins if they were playing late. Campbell is another Edwards.
