Fewell inadvertently said he was the top rated CB on their draft board before the last Jets game. Marv was awful and set back the franchise another three years. What is amazing is his FA signings were worse than the drafts he oversaw. Or if you believe Marv's defenders he was just sleeping in the corner while Modrak made all the picks.

The 3-4 requires a great NT and big DE's. Stroud is too small to play NT(he is taller than he is wide) but might be able to play DE. Williams and Johnson might be able to play DE. Schobel would have to be traded or retire. I don't think he would want to play OLB like Jason Taylor did. Maybin would have to be switched to OLB. Poz may or may not be able to play ILB but probably is not fast enough to play OLB. So.... Outside of Maybin moving to OLB to get him on the field more I see no benefit to switching to a 3-4. Maybe in the long run that is the way to go but not next year IMHO. We should know pretty quickly what the plan is when they hire a DC and by who they target in FA. PS If Maybin doesn't put on a least 15 -20lbs he might have to move to OLB regardless of the scheme...

For arguement's sake I will not debate who makes better decisions, although captain check down I believe is the result of three years of DJ's coaching. However even if Fitzy made the right decisions his throws are wildly inaccurate. He missed TO more than he delivered a catchable ball. I don't believe you can coach accuracy. Trent's disturbing trend of checking down and not pushing/forcing the ball downfield can be corrected with a new coaching staff, IMHO.

Stroud is physically unable to play NT. Maybe he can play DE in a 3-4. I don't think Schobel is going to walk away. I think that was frustration speaking. If Ellison is a starting LB next year I will not watch until he is unjured and gone. Poz can't play ILB in a 3-4. Mark it here - Edwards will be the starting QB.

I think an African American HC is a statement to the players and it may sway a FA if the money offer is the same as another team. Emphasis on "might" and again only if the dollars are equal as money rules all decisons in the NFL.

Come on dude Kelly probably is not in the top 20 QB's of all time if you go way back and may not even be in the top 10 of recent QB's. Brady, Young, Marino, Aikman, Warner, Rothlisberger(sp?) either have better stats or SB rings to go along with excellent regular season play. One could make an arguement even for Phil Simms with his SB and decent regular season success. The jury is still out on guys like Eli, Cutler, and Rivers.

This wouldn't be too upsetting to me. Get a young hungry African American HC that will call his own defense and a proven OC. That being said I still would prefer Gruden or even Russ Grimm - and as an admittedly uniformed fan - I can't even come up with good reasons why

As I posted in another thread - why not Frazier for HC and Gailey for OC? Solves both the DC and OC issues...
