What he did was disgusting, but he has served his time. I suppose I'm OK with his reinstatement, and the fact he'll miss a good chunk of the season. Obviously the Comish was convinced he's been "rehabilitated." Still, I don't want him on the Bills, unless he can plow over Richard Seymour every play. The Bills don't need him on the team purely for a lack of need alone. I admit though, I would have a tough time rooting for this team if they got Vick. I just can't root for him scoring touchdowns for the Bills. I realize it's a business, I understand that wins cure all for a lot of people, but Marshawn's antics, Ko Simpson's "millions" and Donte Witner's crap is already pushing me to the edge of being able to actually like this team. I know they are people and what they do off the field is their business. I agree with that, until these athletes do something illegal and hurt the image of the team and themselves. It's one thing to be a loud mouth like T.O., another to break the law. I'm tired of it... it makes me not care like I used to care about the team. Vick coming here would put me over the top. And no, I wouldn't turn in my season tickets... 10 years of losing has kept me from buying them in the first place. I believe bad press is not bad, it's just a great opportunity. In terms of business no one is stupid for signing him because it will bring immediate interest to that team. This is one time though I wouldn't be able to stick with my own philosophy... I hate that, but it's being honest with myself. I hope they don't sign him.

I'm just glad we're coming up with some ideas. I don't care if we call him Action Jackson, Head Jackson, whatever, just not Fast Freddie. Action Fred Jackson works, yeah yeah it rhymes and isn't massively creative, but it's fun to say and is a positive name that reflects well on him and the team. I think that's the most important thing.
-
So people keep calling Fred Jackson "Fast Freddy." We already had a fast freddy. Of course he wasn't nearly as good as Jackson, and his name wasn't Fred, but recycling nicknames is stupid. Fred Jackson's nickname, thus, should be "Action" Fred Jackson. Yes, I'm totally arguing meaningless nicknames. Seriously though, we can't re-use a nickname on the same team. I'm positive it has happned throughout the league with players on different teams, but re-using one on the same team? Uber lame.

It's radio... he says things to get a reaction like yours. That's his job, to be a dick. That's why they brought him here, because he is very smart. The Sabres are not in the playoffs. He's not going to talk baseball because truly not enough people care. Basketball is a joke to talk about in this town. They both make sense to cover in terms of news reporting (sports updates), but for talk radio no one cares in Buffalo. the Bills are the topic of the day but the average person who casually listens to the show won't care after today, unless he says or does something to get a reaction out of you. If what he said is what you claim, he's a genius. You might be turned off, but the average person who doesn't post on the board and doesn't usually tune in will do one of three things, 1. tune in again tomorrow because they agree with him 2. tune in because a lot of people are for whatever reason addicted to listening to people who piss them off (Rush Limbaugh is a classic example) or 3. even if you don't tune in, you'll remember the station and the name, which matters a whole lot in radio. There is no such thing as bad press... unless you kill someone or are a pedophile. Radio isn't Burger King, you don't have it your way just because you listen. All that matters is that you did listen and more importantly, you remember the name. The other thing he is basically saying to you is he is non-biased. You don't have to agree that he is or isn't, that's just his way of saying he's not going to kiss anyone's ass and instead will give you his honest thoughts. If people on the radio (and TV, news papers and the internet) always said agreeable things it would be really boring and no one would listen. These are facts. I could go on more, but that's the gist. In a perfect world he'd figure out a way to talk about baseball in a unique way that interests everyone on a daily basis, but that's not easy to do believe it or not.

LOL there is actually about a million, I'm just giving ya crap. This was just nice because I was thinking to myself, "self, who's on our o-line now?" And there it was!
-
Yeah it was just sooo freaking terrible. I mean I know that I go to bed every night knowing every single player on the depth chart because I have no life and live with my parents. Thanks for being a penis. It was a good post because I didn't know who we had in all until this post. It's a nice and easy reference.

Peters wants a new contract/Jackson wants a new contract
Pat7s replied to Poeticlaw's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There's a difference here though... Peters signed a 5 year deal when he was getting close to the league minimum. That was dumb because now he's stuck with it. We did pay Peters, he's just pissed that he made a bad decision. Jackson gets a lousy qualifying offer and from what I understand that's all they have to do next year to keep him too... forgive me, I read that at either WGR's site or through the Buffalo news and don't have the patience too find it. He's 28 now... running backs don't last long in this league. He has to get paid NOW or else he could be screwed. Everyone on this board would do exactly what Fred is doing if they were in his situation. The Bills should pay him. -
Scout.com article lists Buffalo as a fit for T.O.
Pat7s replied to BillsFanForever19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I know it's crazy, and stupid, but I can't help myself. I say if he would play here (which come on, he wouldn't and we all know it) then sign him. Yes, the drama he brings is more then just a headache or something you would have to manage. You can't manage him, so any team who thinks they can should just stop right now. Yes, he's not young anymore and seems to drop some big ones. BUT: he gets in the end zone. He's BIG and very strong. In terms of what we really need here, he fits the bill (no pun intended) physically. Here's my real point though: if we bring him here, he will run his mouth right? How is this actually a bad thing? Maybe he'll light a fire under Jauron's ass. Maybe he'll piss off Ralph enough to snap him out of his non-medically induced coma. If he doesn't do either of these things, then wouldn't it at least be nice to have a player openly criticize a crappy staff or teammate instead of the usual blabber BS that pukes out of players' mouths defending Jauron or Mr. Wilson and on and on? He's bonafide tool, but he's someone that would make the Bills not only better on offense but a whole lot more real. WHy not gamble? What do we really have to lose at this point? Player confidence and locker room cohesion? Who cares??? This is a group of players who 'should' be much better and aren't. Someone needs to stir it up... what's the saying? If you're comfortable at work then you're not really working. Bring TO here, make it uncomfortable for these guys and maybe we'll win more then 7 games. -
Holt played on a team with no QB last year as the feature WR. If he came here he'd have an an all pro partner in Evans and a respectable QB to boot. You could not in a million years double cover Lee Evans and single cover Tory Holt if he played for the Bills. He's young enough to be better then Harrison and he's simply better than Edwards. You're basing one season, in which the Rams were horrendous at QB, on his viability. If he's not a threat anymore then Lee Evans should have retired after the 2007-08 season when his stats tanked because of QB play and no other receiving threat on the team.

He's great for what he is: an opinionated columnist. People keep calling him a reporter... he's not a reporter. He's the Buffalo News' Mike Schopp. I love him because he makes the sports section interesting. I love when people say he's not credible when 90% of what he does is opinion. His job isn't based in fact, it's based in subjective thought.

Thank you. We're doomed because we lost Dockery??? Dockery. Really? Jauron is inept but every year for the last decade we've had this argument. "They'll only win 3 games this year at best." Really? Because they lost Dockery? Jauron is an idiot but worst case scenario we're 7-9ish again. That's NOT good enough for me, but that's not DOOMED, that's just average. Ranting is great too, but the problem is people rant about the same things and then the next thing you know we start talking about wide right, no goal, and the exactly 1 billion players that have left the Bills (and Sabres) and all went from average nobodies to Football Overlords who reigned super trophies from the sky all while wiping themselves with photos of Bills fans. My point is to stop feeling sorry for yourself and realize all organizations go through lengthy ups and downs. We are stuck in a big old down time. It will end eventually but only if the players we drafted and draft come through and we let go of the ones that don't produce. DOCKERY didn't produce at the level of his paycheck, so we let him go. You should feel good about this.

I dunno dude, why cut a guy you invested so much in if you're going to do nothing significant to replace that person? Then again we didn't save a lot of cap room by cutting him, so it's not like we have an extra $5 million to throw around this year. I just think they must be bringing in a name on the line if they are throwing away their investment.

Jauron speaks for first time in two months
Pat7s replied to thewildrabbit's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
"As a coaching staff, we have to get more efficient in terms of our communication. ... Game-time decisions, whenever they don't work, they're the wrong decision. You'd like to have them work. Hopefully, the ball will bounce our way a little more often." My problem with him is my problem with people in general... it's not about wanting the ball to bounce your way. It's about making the ball bounce however you want it. He's praying for luck instead of making things happen, and that's the sign of a weak person. Winning doesn't happen because God wills it, Dick. -
First time poster... hi! True, Marvin is old and who knows how much he actually has left in the tank. I will say that I don't think Manning is the only reason Harrison has had a great career. Granted, he has a hall of fame QB and that helps a whole lot, but there are a ton of hall of fame receivers who had great QB's behind them. Harrison was a master at running the right routes to get open deep down field. When he started lighting up the league he didn't have Reggie Wayne. Jerry Rive played with two hall of fame QB's the bulk of his career. No one is suggesting he had other great receivers around him and therefore he's not that good. That's because he was the best ever, despite all the help he had. I'll I'm saying is Marvin Harrison is (was) a GREAT receiver, and if he does have something left in the tank then he is a much better option then Josh Reed, no offense to Josh or the poster who wrote that.
