  1. That's funny!! What's interesting about Gailey is that he hasn't been on the hot season and this is his contract year and no one seems concerned about it. If the team wins below 6 games he and the stache are all gone. And I am not so sure if this team can win more than 6 games.
  2. not too far from you. about 30 minutes from the razor and 37. Been a Bills fan since I was 15.
  3. Great posts and great points. To the few who refuse to play the game. Of course we want to keep both players provided it doesn't put our Bills in a bad position. We also know that the Bills have the cap space to keep both. But just because they have the cap space doesn't mean that they will sign both. It's been a while since the bills have had this level of talent on their roster. And when teams get to this point with talent on their roster, they start letting good players go. The whole point of the thread is this. IF you could only sign one next year. Which one would it be and why. So far it seems Levitre is getting more support. Personally I am not sure that Byrd is the best safety on our roster MUCH LESS a potential top safety in this league. At this point in time, with all due respect to Eric Wood, I regard Levitre as our best lineman. Wood might have the slight edge in talent but durability and versatility matters. I don't think Levitre will ever make a pro bowl but I still regard him as a very good guard in this league (Top 7).
  4. Let's say you are Buddy Nix and you only have the option to keep Byrd or Levitre. Which one would you keep and why? I regard Levitre as a slightly higher rated guard than I would rate Byrd as a safety. I regard Levitre as being able to play all offensive line spots whereas Byrd only FS not SS. I think that if we lost Byrd, lining Wilson at FS and Searcy at SS would be more effective than plugging in Rienhart at LG if we lost Levitre. So needless to say, my vote would be for Levitre. What about you?
  5. If the original poster though Young looked awful all preseason, what in the hell does he think about Fitzpatrick this preseason???????
  6. well we have a few guys that can play middle. Shep. Barnett (played most of his career there) and maybe morrison. Outside LB is where we are thin. Our depth are Moats and some rookies. If we can stay healthy there we'll be fine but if guys get injured, that's when I'll start to worry. Tank might be someone who can provide solid depth as the season progresses. And to the other poster, thanks for clarifying things on Merriman; makes sense.
  7. Sheppard is banged up. Maybe the reason Moats is getting OLB reps is because they have to move Morrison on the inside? Another thought, why isn't Merriman playing OLB anymore? I know he is old blah blah blah but isn't it about putting your best 7 on the football field?
  8. Excellent contribution. Thanks for sharing. I found the WR battle (or lack thereof) very interesting. I wonder who has the leg up on that 4th wideout spot? Probably Hagan.
  9. Don't be so quick throw Donald Jones under the bus. Last year was his first year as a starter and his second in the league. Compare his stats with Stevie's over their first two years and you might be surprised. Is he the next Stevie......no but there is no reason that he won't improve. Given the Bill's spread attack, the #2 spot isn't as big as people are making it out to be. Someone with speed who can keep a safety honest is really important. I do agree that the Bill's will keep 6 plus Smith. And by the way, the poster who described Roosevelt as having speed is way off. He is slow. The six will be: 1) Johnson 2) Jones 3) Nelson 4) Hagan 5) Graham 6) Easley vs Clowney (will battle for the last spot)
  10. I never want to see Byrd on an interview again. I'd rather see a Bill with a more colorful personality.
  11. This was great to see. Thanks for posting. I've always been big on Dareus and I think even with Super Mario, he'll be our best defensive player next year and years to come. Reminds me of Warren Sapp.
  12. Sunday Ticket is also available on Bell Express Vu. Football To All
  13. Graham won't start this year. He is raw. Nelson is a slot and is too slow to be starting receiver in the nfl. Easley, Hagan or Jones will battle it out. Jones might have failed to impress last year but it was his first year as a starter and he's very early in his career. Easley showed flashes in pre season and no one knows exactly what he will bring. Hagan did a solid job when he was given the opportunity. Either one of those three can be serviceable but my hope is that Easley takes this job and runs with it.
  14. Let's put it this way. If I had to pick a #2 not including Easley it would be Hagan. He has good speed and he was the 3rd best receiver on the team last year imo. I think it comes down between Hagan and Easley for #2. Graham is way too raw. He'll be the 4th receiver and 3rd receiver in certain packages.
  15. The bills have played a modified version of this a lot in the past under Cotrell. They run a 50 out of the 34. Basically the 2 OLB are on the line setting the edge and the traditional DE's play over the guards and the NT over the center. I don't see the need for it in this pass happy league.
  16. In order 1) Thurman Thomas (Best player we've had since I've been a fan) 2) Jim Kelly (The leader during the glory years) 3) Bruce Smith (How many times did he get that sack on 3rd down when we really needed it) 4) Eric Moulds (A prototype receiver who would have been a hof on a different team) 5) Antoine Winfield (Tackling machine with very good cover skills and tremendous heart) Least Favorite In Order 1) Ledois Mckelvin (Bone head play after bone head play; still steaming over that fumble to the Patriots) 2) Lee Evans (good one dimensional player but complained way too much) 3) Whoever played corner back opposite Nate Odoms (Nothing but bums opposite him) 4) Mike Mularkey (quit on us. And you were not as good as advertised) 5) Tom Donahoe (whatever you did to old man Ralph, sent us to a decade of cheap spending and marketing guys running the team) Favorite Current bills 1) Stevie Johnson - The only reason why we even get mentioned on Espn or nfl net. Plus a very solid #1 receiver 2) Marcel Dareus - The best defensive football player we have 3) George Wilson - In spirts he showed game changing elite level safety play on par with any of the current greats. Hard to believe he was a bench warming wideout. 4) Ryan Fitzpatrick - I like the swag, the beard and has the best nickname in the biz "The Omish Riffle" 5) Chan Gailey - A breath of fresh air after the other goons we had. Seeing him with those glasses holding that sheet calling out plays makes me feel that we are headed in the right direction. I just hope we diversify from all the short stuff and I hope we establish the run a little more out of 2 back sets.
  17. I agree with that. They aren't good enough to waste a pick on another QB.
  18. The one weakest is TE. No depth at all outside of Chandler. And Chandler isn't a complete TE. 2nd I'd say backup QB. If Fitz goes down or slumps, we have no viable option. Unless Thigpen shows the stuff he did in K.C.
  19. Great post. I learned alot. Great thread also. Many of the questions I wondered about but never thought of asking.
  20. I am just shocked people are making this much uproar over a 4th round draft pick.
  21. Do you know what Matt Schaub, Rob Johnson, Matt Flynn, Matt Cassell, Kevin Kolb, etc etc all have in common? They WERE backups to established quarterbacks that ended up being a starter elsewhere and given a big contract. Kirk Cousins will follow the same path.
  22. let's not over react because the skins used "a 4th round pick" on a qb. You all act like that 4th round pick would have netted them a pro bowler. If kirk counsins is as good as advertised, the skins will get a 1st rounder when they trade him in 2 or 3 years. To the point about Shanahan, they guy can coach offensive football. Say what you want about him being a head coach/gm but as far as offensive football the guy is up there with the best that are currently coaching. The way he would script the first 15 or so calls at the beginning of games during the 90s was good stuff. When the Bills lost out on Shanny I was so upset. I remember when the Bills announced they were going to hire Gailey, I almost threw up. Then after a few days, I started to warm up to the idea a bit. The more and more I thought about it, the more I started to warm up to it. Seeing him on the sideline with the playchart and always talking to the qb made me feel comfortable compared to the hands off coaches we had in he past. I wouldnt trade Gailey for Shanney at all. Keep this in mind though, Gailey is entering into the last year of his contract. He may very well be on the hot seat.
  23. So now this is third person that you have accused of making an idiotic comment. You can talk football without the insults.
  24. There was/is only one position on the roster that we needed to draft a starter on day one. You know which one that is? A receiver. We have a legit #1 in Stevie. We have a strong number #3 in Nelson and then we have a bunch of fours and fives. We do not have a #2 receiver on this roster. Easley did look really good last year in pre season. I really feel like we messed up not getting Floyd. Or moving up on day 2 and getting quick out of appalachin state. That kid look like he would be the perfect fit in our system. And as for Glynn. Sheesh. The stinch of Mike Williams is all over that pick. I am sure even Jamie Nails think this guy is too big and slow. I really hope they address the receiver void on this roster.
