The Rams offense was comprised of five future HOF players in their prime and I'd say all of them assisted eachother in development. Would the Rams juggernaut have been less explosive if they had an average LT? Possibly, but I don't think a whole lot different. The Cardinals have an average LT and were plenty explosive last year. Orlando Pace was one of the best to ever play his position and Gandy is a serviceable vet. The difference between the two is in big games, IMO. The Cardinals win the SB last year with Pace. Who is Jason Peters closer too, Pace or Gandy? I'd say he falls somewhere in between. If I had to choose I'd say he would be closer to Gandy, because like others have said Pace could be the best all-time. I'm on the fence about restructuring Peters. Their is no question that the kid is good. Is he highest paid LT in the NFL, good? At this point I would have to say no. Could he be? Maybe. In order for him to be worth the risk, he is going to have to work his way up to top 3-5 status within his contract years. The Bills have to decide if he has the work ethic to go along with the talent. It's impossible for anyone on this board to prove to me, one way or another what type of character/work ethic Peters has. If it weren't for the top of the heap money demands, this would be a no-brainer. Is he worth 10% of our salary? IDK

Informed Speculation - Buffalo Rumblings
PushthePile replied to BillsNYC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Great post. You have nailed TBD scouting perfectly. Personally, I think a better comparison for Smith is Warren Sapp. Different positions and different infractions but same level college performance. Both of these players suffered from a little immaturity at the wrong time. Some team is going to luck out and grab him later than he should go, IMO. -
I agree that the team should continue to try and sign Peters. I'm just a big fan of Pettigrew and think he could help this team alot. I have no problem with a TE who stays home mostly, just as long as he can move the chains once in awhile. That is what we haven't had in here in a long time. On a side note, I think Royal's blocking was a little overrated as well. He was a better blocker than reciever but not really dominant in my estimation.

Righ People in the Right Postions

By midseason the Qb play had dropped off to the point, where JP fan boys started showing their faces again. That's as bad as it gets. I'm hoping that Edwards makes a huge leap this year because when he struggles our offense is brutal. If you watch other NFL teams with young, struggling Qbs you will notice the similarities. They either stay vanilla on offense or they commit alot of turnovers. This team's best chances last year were to limit offensive mistakes and play defense. They did both at a medicore level. -
Most teams in this league are constantly looking to fix their lines. Only a few teams in the NFL can say they have had consistently good play on both. The Bills fit in the pile with the teams that haven't had continuity. They haven't been as inept on both lines as you say. I'm right there with you in terms of the team needing upgrades now, but you make it seem like no effort has ever been made. Dockery and Walker weren't cheap either. Mike Williams was a bust. Various middle of the road OL FAs haven't worked out. The Bills have hits and misses, just like every other team out there. This should be a draft with emphasis on the lines and I think it will.

If he routinely blocks his man out of the play, the offense is better. Scouts are saying he's the best all around TE in last 5 years. Even if the team has Peters next year, we are still going to need some o-line help. I would rather see the Bills offense rely on Marshawn and Freddie's legs late in games than Trent's passing (even with TO). Pettigrew would go a long way in making this happen, IMO. He is also a very capable target as well. So much is made of his blocking that people just overlook his recieving skills.

The 2009 Buffalo Bills season expectation
PushthePile replied to Romeo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love your optimism and welcome to TBD. It's good to see a little youth on this board. Watch your step around here, because their is alot of old and scorned chicken littles running around. Actually their is alot of knowledge here, too. The Bills have alot of potential players on the team. Potential doesn't amount to much until it actually pans out. I have high hopes and reservations about the upcoming season. Right now the team can't be compared to the Giants or Cardinals, IMO. Those teams absolutely dominate in different aspects of the game. We don't have that and in order to be real contender, we need to get it. This Bills team does everything mediocre right now. That's not horrible either. The team is one great draft away from being a real contender. -

I am usually a cynical person myself. I made the comment in response to those who believe cops can get away with anything. In today's day and age , cops are under a microscope like no other profession. The days of vigilante justice without consequence are virtually over. How much time does it take to whip out a cellphone and video record something? How long does it take until that image or video is plastered everywhere? How long until Buffalo Bills message boards are 7 pages deep analyzing it? You have a better chance of getting away with something if you weren't wearing a uniform and driving a police car, IMO. As far as the traffic stuff goes, I'm okay with it. As long as guys aren't letting eacthother go on crimes that are more severe than a routine traffic violation, who cares? I've been let go on traffic stops myself (military ID). Every profession has it's perks I suppose. Anyway, good luck with that student and instructor. It sounds like a really bad situation. -
We can only hope you lead the charge to canton, tough guy. I have a strange feeling you wouldn't be booing too long.

I love watching that Brown video. He has the big-time pass rushing moves the others don't. Brown beat some of those tackles so badly it looked like they didn't even get a finger on him. He could be best in draft, IMO. -
This recent "rumor" really got me thinking
PushthePile replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't feel bad, this board has a few losers who wish for Ralph's death weekly. I just read on another topic somebody wants to get a group together to go boo him at his HOF induction. I bought into the possibilty of the rumor as well. It made me sad as a Bills fan and sick about the future. You can question his decisions but the fact remains, no one knows what this team's future holds when he is gone. -

You don't need a badge to get away with something. Have a little more faith in your fellow man. -
I have to agree. The location of their practice has very little bearing on the execution, IMO. It's not like the old days either. These players are getting dry footballs every play and spend most of the day nice and toasty on the sideline. If anything it's a minor adjustment as far as footing goes. If you are in the NFL you most likely have already dealt with windy conditions before and can make adjustments accordingly. The huge weather factor is built up by the fans and only a couple times a year do you get a real frigid game. Gameday conditions effect both teams.

Irondequoit is the first place I thought of after reading the last few posts. I have seen some of those clowns operate. Personally, I think alot of these town guys don't always have enough going on, so they act like they are patrolling in Iraq, on routine traffic calls. I can understand staying safe and maintaining control with an aggressive posture. My problem, is when 4 cops strong-arm a 17 year old kid in front of his girlfriend, for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign. -

I like Maualuga alot, myself. If we go linebacker first, I like him better than Cushing. The big question for me is how well Maualuga can cover in our defense. Alot of posters seem to think POZ would be a better player outside as well, but I'm not sure he's athletic enough. I know he played it in college but that isn't really the same. If Poz can play outside at an average level and Mauluga can cover, I think this would be a great pick. -

Willis McGahee is the ultimate AZZWIPE. I hope he loses his touches to McClain and Rice this year. Jeff George isn't that far behind McGahee either. -

A slightly better version of Schobel as far as a pass rusher goes, means Everette Brown will lead the league in sacks a few years. That ain't half bad for a reach. We are looking for a pass rush specialist according to the FO. The problem is that it's looking more and more likely somebody is going to reach in the top ten and take Brown before us. -

I agree, this guy is most likely a bad apple. At the very least he's a kid who might have gotten spooked and responded poorly. Most importantly you used the term jackhole three times in your post and that has to be a TBD record. Nice work! On a side note Blake Griffin is a freak. -

The Browns are such a joke. How do you have a QB controversy with two guys that can't play? GO BILLS -
I think Duke will do just fine against Minnesota, twice a year. He will be a nice addition to Green Bay's backfield.

You must not have much experience with cops. It's easy to take the bad apples and make them the rule of thumb but try and look at things as a whole. You are going to find alot more good guys, who take pride in their jobs. The stereotype, is the white meathead who is out to break skulls. This image is a dying one. Police departments are more diversified than ever and racism is a career killer. Still it's the bad cops who make the headlines and fuel the hatred. Generalizing white cops is no better than bad cops generalizing black athletes. Do you think Pacman, Chris Henry, and Frostee Rucker are good representatives of todays black athlete? I don't but it's always the top story. The media does a poor job of potraying many people in this world and you have to filter that, SCHITT. It always seems to be human nature to put people into groups and give them labels. LOL, even when you are trying to combat racism, you use stereotypes to form an opinion of a group. -
Can you share these experiences?
