It really isn't even close, I don't know why I get suckered in. I don't think half the posters who argue against Cutler believe it either. It's a message board and arguing is continuous, I guess.

I share your optimism about the team. I haven't given up on this coaching staff (very unpopular stance), I don't believe we've seen the best from our offense, and I have high hopes for the upcoming draft. We are one really good draft away from competing, IMO. I just don't believe Edwards can be a gamechanging QB. I hope I'm wrong. A team can win with mediocre QB play, as long as he stays within his ability and doesn't turn the ball over. This is how i feel Edwards needs to play in order to compete. I don't think he will ever play in a probowl but that doesn't mean he can't be a winner. The team needs to get alot better in order to win consistently with an average QB.

I didn't mention Brandon Marshall because I do see him as an elite talent. Your other examples are average players and rookies.

Yes, I don't think Edwards is going to be a great QB. I think he will be a serviceable starter that can win, if his teammates pick him up. Sorry if this is blasphemy to some of you and I hope I'm wrong. I am just calling it like i see it, he is very underwhelming. I made the reference to Peters and Bell because saying Cutler hasn't accomplished anything more than Edwards is laughable. One guy is playing for his job this year and the other is being chased by more than half the league. Your third point about Shanahan is correct. He does make a difference and without a QB like Cutler or Elway his hands are tied. Again, look into what Shanny has to say on the subject. Edwards does deserve another year and I hope he figures it out. I still feel very comfortable saying that he hasn't sniffed probowl selection yet.

RUMOR: Big curveball coming in with our first pick
PushthePile replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody has said we SHOULD draft a qb in the first round. The thread was started based on a rumor. It has taken flight off of that rumor, because the thought is intriguing. Personally, I think Sanchez has as much of a chance of being an excellent QB as Edwards does. We haven't seen Edwards play as an excellent QB yet. I'm not saying go grab Sanchez either. Most posters believe Edwards needs to step his game up this year in order to keep his job. Maybe the FO would like to have a fall back plan if he doesn't. -
Don't be surprised if TE Todd Heap becomes expendable
PushthePile replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Nobody is disputing that Gonzo is a superior player to Heap. Gonzo is not coming to Buffalo. The OP was suggesting that Heap may be a decent option, if he becomes available. -
I think you are grasping at straws on this one. I understand that you have a problem with Cutler's attitude, but lots of players have egos and can be babies. I am very familiar with your posts here and respect your opinion. Unfortunately you have aligned yourself with the anti Cutler crowd. Now, I'm not saying the guy is destined for Canton but you just compared him to JP. You are smarter than this and are being petty. At the same time you have stated Cutler hasn't accomplished anything more than Edwards. By that rationale Peters hasn't accomplished anything more than Demetrius Bell and considerably less than Mike Gandy. Bad argument and you know it. The Broncos have some nice weapons but some of you guys make them out to be world beaters. Scheffler and Royal? Wow, terrifying! Mike Shanahan is a great offensive mind and puts players in great positions but even he can't do it without the players. Look at his offenses since Elway. Better yet check out what he has to say about Cutler. The Bills would be lucky to have a probowl caliber Qb again. They haven't sniffed that type of production in a long time. A probowl Qb fits into any offense in the world. Sorry I don't buy the argument he wouldn't handle Buffalo. The guy got his azz kicked for four years at Vandy and never had a problem.

RUMOR: Big curveball coming in with our first pick
PushthePile replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My thoughts exactly, you just did a much better job of putting it together. I only disagree with Edwards being a bust, if he fails this year. I could see Edwards being a very solid backup or serviceable journeyman. I think as far as third round Qbs go, that's not bad production. Especially if he continues to be a professional in how he goes about his work. -
Easy Deano! Let's not get ahead of ourselves. How can you guess that Quinn is going to turn out better than Cutler? Quinn can't even definitively beat out a lame duck Derek Anderson. You argue that Peters being elected to the pro-bowl is a good indication that his peers acknowledge his quality of play. I assume you would certainly give the same respect to Cutler. Right? McDaniels may know Qbs but so does Shanahan. Anybody who has any respect for Mike Shanahan would be well served to google his thoughts on Cutler. You are also willing to give Peters the benefit of the doubt on attitude and character. I'd say holding out and not showing up to camp, is at the very least comparable to demanding a trade. Lets try to be consistent, Dean.

RUMOR: Big curveball coming in with our first pick
PushthePile replied to SKOOBY's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I completely agree. I don't see how anyone could be sold on Trent at this point. DISCLAIMER: I think JP sucks and I don't hate Trent. I wouldn't guess that the Bills are ready to give up on Trent, but a long term backup plan has to be on their mind. I'm not sure that this staff can afford to spend a first rounder on a QB, but I expect to see one taken somewhere. Of course, if somebody feels they have some immediate job security and the right guy falls to them, anything could happen. I have been hoping we draft a QB all along. At the very least a rookie QB might be able to beat out Fitzpatrick. History tells us somebody is going to need to start in place of Trent. -

RUMOR: Big curveball coming in with our first pick

Looks like TBD can hit the curve. -
Sports fans are hypocrites. More than half of these Cutler haters would be singing his praises if he became a Bill. Terrell Owens is the most glaring proof that could have ever happened. These are the same fans who say they always knew Willis McGahee sucked.
-
A team doesn't come out and say they are going to trade a player, unless they have many teams trying to aquire him. The Bills would never say they are looking to trade Peters. It's all part of the bargaining strategy. If you have a couple teams interested, you act as though you really want to keep the player and try to drive up the price. If most of the league is interested, you simply announce that the player is going to be traded and watch everyone bid against eachother. Regardless of what any goof on this site says about Cutler, he is going to be chased by MANY teams. The starting price is 2 first rounders and will go up. It will be interesting to see what happens to Eddie Royal, Tony Scheffler, and that vaunted Denver running game next year without Cutler.

Don't be surprised if TE Todd Heap becomes expendable
PushthePile replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I wouldn't mind bringing in Heap if we can get him for a reasonable price(mid to late round pick). The Bills would be well served to draft a TE, even if they pick up a player like Heap. -
T.O.'s love affair with Toronto

LMAO! What if he wasn't in the NFL or NBA? He'd probably be in the UFC or Nascar. Thanks for your thoughts Terrell. This is no shot at you Stussy. -
Why The 49ers Wont Draft Stafford
PushthePile replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm with you Dean. When you release information like this it only causes a wave of assumptions from hardcore fans. Who knows the context of this interview? Some will read this report and picture Stafford breaking down into tears and falling to pieces. Others might picture Stafford calmly saying I'll answer anything that is not related to my family. Who knows maybe 3-5 years down the road the Bills possible trade for Stafford will be a hot topic on this board. Some weirdo here is going to dig this up and use it as their main point in a no trade for Stafford argument. Thanks for being professional niners. -
What is so wrong with choosing who you want to forgive? I hate this crap, where people are guilted into a blind forgiveness. If you want to believe everyone deserves to be forgiven, that's great! I'll reserve the right to forgive who I want. The guy made very little effort to explain how something like this happened and didn't show real remorse,IMO. Why do you expect others to forgive him? Almost everyone deserves a second chance in society. This doesn't mean he deserves a second chance in the public's view. I could care less if he gets his life back together.
-
I think that this is a very logical option. Assuming if Peters goes and brings us another first, we could grab Pettigrew with our second pick. Pettigrew is said to be the best blockking TE to come out in 5 years. Even if Peters stays, I don't see how this couldn't help our offense.

Preston's Comments on the Bills as a Packer
PushthePile replied to LynchMob23's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A player can make any comment they want. As a fan I find it only natural to stick up for my team even if the player is telling the truth. Kind of like if your buddy is ripping on your alcoholic uncle. See? Some people don't have a blind loyalty or a sense of pride in the Buffalo Bills, and thats okay. Most of us here still believe and don't appreciate comments like this, especially from a future cfl star. I think the team needs to start finding players who are willing to claw their way to the top. Thanks for nothing Puke. As I said before, Puke is going to be a nice addition to Green Bay's backfield. Enjoy playing Minnesota! -
I'm hoping that the jests get Cutler. All the Edwards fan boys have repeatedly assured me that Cutler is awful and a franchise cancer.

If you were building a team, what defensive position
PushthePile replied to Tipster19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Defensive End. It is the only position on the field that can dominate a game without relying on any help. It is also the only position that when played well helps everyone. DT is a not so distant second, but they don't have the same big play opportunities. -
All Time Bills Team RB Vote Flawed from the start
