HaHaHa! So I took a little shot at you blazers. No, I'm not much of a drinker. I get drunk a handful of times a year and usually regret it. My source of frustration comes more from friends, then posters on this message board. I get sick of hearing about how pot should be legalized. It is always a high volume, low quality, in your face, rant, that usually ends with packing the bowl. It gets really old, especially when no one ever disagrees with legalizing it. The real reason I don't smoke is because I've become a high strung, control freak. Nice, huh? I don't know how to relax anymore, and it takes a brutal workout to get that mellow. I wish I could enjoy a little green now and again.

If you believe that a Qbs winning percentage is the only Qb stat that matters, then you my friend are the assclown. Drew Brees has a career record of 55-51. I guess by your ridiculous estimation he is mediocre. Carson Palmer is 32-33 as a starter. Another loser, huh? Kyle Orton slides in with an astounding 21-12 record. Wow. Their you have it Rico, the messiah of the Qb position. -
My problem with your argument is, you don't need a gun to commit a violent crime. Stabbings and attacks with a deadly weapon are even more common than shootings. Guns and ammunition are everywhere already. You could put all sorts of restrictions on the purchase of ammunition and all you would do is create an underground market. I find it hard to believe that most crimes are comitted with a hunting rifle or shotgun purchased at K-mart. Seriously, these weapons and ammo are bought and sold on the street. It's also tough for me to imagine a raging animal going to the store and being denied their shotgun slugs and then the problem is magically gone. The real problem is the constant need to defer blame today. It's not the drunk who killed somebody with his car, it's the bartenders fault. It's not the individual who lost control and killed someone, it's the gun laws. Stop passing the buck! Work on fixing the true problem, people.

"We said NO PICTURES, and we meant it!!!"
PushthePile replied to Lori's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is so disturbing on so many levels. The fact that these two mega rich, classless, and out of touch stars are selling their wedding photos to a magazine, is overshadowed by the violence. It will be so gratifying when the rest of the afc east catchs up to the Patsies, and Brady starts taking real punishment. Someday my friends! -

Come on Alpha! Did you really expect anything else? It is obvious some posters have a sweet spot in their heart for Edwards and it clouds their ability to be objective. It's better to let these posters languish in man love and think what they want. We have seen this type of fanboy blindness before and it has gotten really ugly. Rest assure that more fans have questions about Trent than don't. If you want to rely on completion percentage and Qb ratings, be my guest. I think Trent will be better served in moving the chains a little more and scoring some freaking Tds. Our offense was anemic despite his pocket poise and superior accuracy. He did some good things like biscuit pointed out, but a few plays don't make a season. You can't be bad five games in a row and then make a couple plays against a pitiful defense. He needs to move out of the potential department and prove it. -
I would take the time to learn how to properly use a firearm and practice gun safety. If you feel like it would give you a sense of comfort, I'd say do it. If you have children, take the time to teach them as well. You might even find a new hobby.

Bill why do you only defend Edward's poor play? I mean if somebody bashes Kelsay, no one says a thing. If another post is questioning Whitner's play or Poz's play, you might here a couple posters say we have to wait and see still. You take every chance you see to bash Jauron and staff, as do many here. The moment somebody questions Edwards regression last season, they get accused of not being a fan. I've literally seen posters say that Schobel is a waste of money and was never more than an average player. Yet, no one is calling them a bad fan? I just find it weird that some of you guys are so in love with this guy. Why? Is it still because he's not JP? Have you forgotten what good Qb play is? It's one thing to still have hope for improvement (which I do). It's quite another, to defend his collapse last season. A few observations: 1.Jaurons coaching only effects Edwards play. Rarely, if ever, have I seen this argument used for any other player. The other members of the team are identified for poor play and recieve the blame. Not the annointed one. 2. Any member of the Bills is open for performance review, without having to have your fan hood questioned. Any member that's not named Trent Edwards. Their is literally a 24-7 debate going on about our probowl LT. I've yet to see someone say, you are less of a fan, if you think Peters stinks. 3. The hardcore Trent fanboys are usually the hardcore anti JP crew. Is this a coincidence? Posters here marry themselves to an idea and can't admit to being wrong. Some posters actually think JP is a starting caliber Qb, still. You guys are like politicians. Trent lovers are sounding more and more like JP fanboys every post. It's everybody else's fault but JP/Trent. 4. The team has surrounded Edwards with some weapons this year, and excuses are already being formed for his future play. Yes, we could lose Peters, and the line might see some new faces. I'll reserve my evaluation of the protection until, a line is put together, and I actually see them play. I can already see some of you working on your excuse list. Sad. His protection was pretty good last year and some still bash it. 5. Facts and Stats are a useless tool for the Trent lover. You can lay out your concerns with the Qb position and sight game examples, while supporting those observations with facts, and you will be called a troll. An objective give and take, conversation can't be reached with fanboys. I can recall when this was the case with JP. You provide facts and Bill from NY, tries to say you aren't credible because he didn't agree with a totally off subject post four days ago. Magox just replies with an absurd accusation about someone's loyalty to the team. Let it be known if you ever utter a negative word about our Qb, you aren't a fan of the Bills anymore. Disclaimer: I'm still a Bills fan. Like many of you I have serious questions in regards to this team and organization. IMO, the Qb position is the most important and should not be exempt from evaluation. Our Qb has had good moments but has never shown me he can take the next step. Edwards deserves another year as the starter, because IMO 23 starts is not enough to evaluate a young Qb. He needs to show he can stay healthy and elevate his play consistently. I wasn't a fan of fan of the Fitzpatrick signing and I do think he will end having to start at somepoint this year. I would be a big fan of the team bringing in another Qb from the draft. I'm not saying wiht the first pick. A young Qb is like a lottery ticket and could provide a nice competition in camp. I say again, Trent is the starter but far from a sure thing and the team needs to start looking at the possibility of having to look elsewhere. -

What has he done in 23 starts? Regressed Does he deserve to start this year? Yes, because 23 starts is not enough to discredit a young Qb. Does he need to do significantly better than he has, in order to be a career starter? Yes, more production is needed. Does Qb play directly effect wins and losses? Yes, it's the most important factor. Am I a hater because I have doubts that he can dramatically improve? No Do you sound like a JP fanboy, when you attack me for saying Trent hasn't performed up to par yet? Absolutely Do I ever route against a Buffalo Bills player? No, but thanks for throwing that out there. Do I expect you to make up excuses next year if his play doesn't improve? Yes, it's hard to get over a mancrush. -
This is the number one reason why legalization is only a matter of time. It would be a nice money maker. On a side note I find the whole pot crusade, bizarre. It's pointless and stupid that it is still illegal. At the same time I find it just as wierd that so many middle aged men get so passionate about weed. I haven't smoked since my early twenties and really don't have the urge too. I want too see the damn thing legalized because I'm sick of hearing the potheads whine. Of all the things you could be doing, you choose smoking weed? I guess, I just don't get the attraction. I got over the giggles and high, a long time ago. So legalize it, tax it, and smoke it in public for all I care.

It's very easy to sit back and blame everything on a coaching staff. I've heard it all on this board. DJ and his staff are the reason Hardy didn't look good last year. DJ and his staff would have ruined Cutler's career. DJ and his staff are the reason Edwards regressed last year. DJ and his staff aren't getting the most out of Poz, Lynch, Jackson, and Evans. DJ and his staff routinely cost the Bills wins. DJ and his staff aren't going to use TO correctly. DJ and his staff are going to destroy whatever rookies we draft. DJ and his staff don't know how to draft. I can understand having criticism of the guy and some of his calls, but you make it seem like every call he makes is wrong. Trent Edward's play falls directly on his shoulders. Given his supporting cast, I would still say he performed poorly. If you want to see young QBs who are going in the right direction check out Aaron Rodgers, Jay Cutler, Phillip Rivers, Matt Ryan, Joe Flacco, and even Jamrcus Russell is improving. Russell's season last year is comparable to Edwards and he was playing his best at the end of the season. Tyler Thigpen plays in an arguably worse situation and he played far better. Kyle Orton isn't a franchise Qb and he outplayed Edwards in a worse situation. If Jauron was really as bad as everyone here says, the players wouldn't publicly embrace him like they do. If the guy was ruining careers and hurting the team, vets wouldn't be coming out and saying he's our guy. Some posters make the argument that he lets them do what they want and practices inside, so thats why he gets support. This is such a lame excuse. NFL players care about their money, stats, and winning, in that order. I highly doubt practicing indoors is more important. They must feel confident that Jauron is not the reason their production is subpar. A Bills fan's worst nightmare is we don't have our Qb yet. It's much easier to jump on the bandwagon that blames everybody else. If his name was Losman and he was drafted in the first round, this board would be singing a much different tune. I have said before he deserves another season, and I believe that. I expect more than okay play this year and I hope most fans do as well. I want more than completion percentages and the meaning less Qb rating. That crap sounds like when JP homers whopointed to his physical attributes and potential. TOUCHDOWNS and FIRST DOWNS are what I'm looking for. -

Our LT was a college TE. Pettigrew is considered by some scouts as capable of becoming a solid LT. I don't think this is what the OP meant, though. -

As a veteran Bills fan, you should be able to recognize average to below average QB play. The All-Pro analogy is cute, but I'm just hoping he puts the ball in the endzone alot more. The Qb is not soley responsible for all the faults of the team but he is by far the most responsible. He has 23 career starts and was regressing in the second half of last season. You don't have to put blinders on when you root for somebody. I've cheered for him every snap and I'll be the first to tell you he needs to get better or he's done. -

It really depends on how far back you want to compare drafts. During the time frame of 01-05 the Pats, severely out draft the Bills, and probably the rest of the league by a mile. It is amazing how many solid lineman and other above average starters they found in those years. In 2000 they happened to get a guy named Brady as well. The Bills had a few nice hits in the same time frame but a few complete misses as well. The Bills have been average in draft success, IMO. The one glaring problem is the inability to solidfy either line through the draft. In addition to this the Bills have not found an answer at Qb, since Jim Kelly. In the last three drafts, I give the edge to the Bills. It is too early to tell with many of these players, but I'm going on potential. Just an opinion. The Pats have come back to earth in the last three years. Jerod Mayo seems to be a stud though. The Bills have put some nice pieces in place over the last three years. The same questions about the lines and Qb, remain though.

Rumor: Cushing and Matthews test positive for steroids?
PushthePile replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The NFL is full of players who use performance enhancing drugs. It's a whole different world in comparison to the Tony Mandarich days. At one time it was mostly fringe players pressured into trying to play in the NFL. Now it's all types of players getting caught, even the best. Rest assure way more don't get caught. I don't think popping on steroids means you aren't a good football player. It just means your one of the guys that got caught. Steroids and HGH have huge effects on performance and we are seeing all ranges of athletes taking them. -

PushthePile replied to Fingon's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I don't think that it's that simple. The NFL has a drug problem and it involves many ethnicities using many different drugs. I'd say it's almost impossible to link certain drugs to specific racial groups, anymore. I'm guessing their are a fair amount of HGH users in the NFL as well.
