I hear what your saying but it sounds like both guys are on autopilot during these interviews. The difference is one guy is doing damge control and the other is enjoying the moment. His take on winning championships is not exactly riveting. In a nutshell, if you beat your opponent every which way you will be rewarded with wins. Quite the recipe for championships.

I agree with the Yes Sir/ No Sir policy and this woman clearly deserved to get arrested. The issue isn't with what she did. These types of people are everywhere, especially if you deal with the public at the law enforcement level. A 72 year old woman who poses no threat to a full size male officer shouldn't be tasered. It is either the case of foolish SOPs or a foolish cop. I'll take the broken arm over the blown up pacemaker every day of the week. Why couldn't she break a hip falling down like a bag of rocks? Weak argument for lazy police work.

Barry Sanders was an awesome athlete and deserves to be in consideration but he wasn't astonishingly fast. -

I think all sports have great athletes in them. Some sports are just more geared to athletes. In general the average MLB player doesn't compare to an NFL or NBA player. It is a game that requires specific skill sets and eye hand coordination. This is not to say that MLB doesn't have great athletes in it, because it does. Players like BJ Upton, Grady Sizemore, Ichiro Suzuki, and Jose Reyes are phenominal athletes. I've never played hockey but I would have to believe that it's a game that requires alot of athleticism, as does soccer or boxing. If your a tremendous athlete you can find a place in alot of different sports. -

It all depends on your definition of athletic. I think physicality and strength should be a factor in judging athletes. Lawrence Taylor just came to mind. -

I must admit I can't provide a linky. I just finished reading the book "Boys Will Be Boys" by Jeff Pearlman. His distain for physical play was touched on a few times. The book is comprised of stories and accounts from players and coachs during the Cowboys last dynasty. I don't recall the specific players who were quoted or interviewed on the subject but it was no secret amongst the team. Take it for what it's worth, I apologize for not having more. Even during Sanders playing days, it was no secret he was sheepish against the run. It was something the opposition tried to exploit. I guess the only real proof is in the game film. -

I would never try to downplay Sanders ability to help a team. He is one of the all-time great cover corners. Personally, I think he is a bit overhyped and mythical, but that doesn't mean he wasn't great. I'd take him on my team that's for sure. However, I do think he was a liability in regards to the run. It was well documented that Sanders loathed physical contact. His defensive partners knew this and had to compensate to his side. -

Relax, it's just an opinion. You don't know he couldn't either. Their are plenty of athletes today that could play other sports professionally. I wouldn't bet against him that's for sure. -

Tennis isn't a can't miss event for me but I will tune into the big matches. I have a tremendous amount of respect for Federer, the guys accomplishments are comparable to Tiger Woods. I was under the impression that Federer has slipped a little. Is he definatively the best player in tennis right now? As for tennis requiring more athleticism than basketabll, that is impossible to say. They are two vastly different sports. Any time you have a team sport, you are going to have role players who can only do certain things. Obviously, an athlete can't be a role player in an individual sport. This doesn't mean one sport is more athletically superior. It's just an opinion question so their is really no right or wrong. Lebron is just the first name that came to thought for me. -

What does best player have to do with best athlete? Federer isn't even the best player in tennis. He would get smoked by Lebron in most sports. They are not even close in strength or explosiveness. -
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! The sky is falling!!!!!!!!!!

I know he is over-marketed and constantly fawned over at ESPN, but Lebron James is a freak. He could be a successful NFL player if he chose to switch professions. I like the Bo Jackson selection as well. Deon Sanders was good at what he specialized in but wasn't well rounded in either sport. -
Exactly, this deal just bought him a few more paychecks.

I don't have anything against the Senator. It's only a message board and things easily get misunderstood over typed text. He is not an idiot and we just disagreed on a completely irrelevant topic. I never meant to make fun of Corey's situation. I just have a different perspective. Hopefully the old bag will witness the Senator's run.
-
My opinion was that corey could be over this situation and laughing at it with his friends and family. Check the records you goof, their is no reason to distance myself from that. You can call that view stupid if you like and that's your opinion. It's my opinion that you are socially awkward and a hypocrite. The Ted Kennedy tradgedy happened forty freaking years ago. Take a week off and catch up to the rest of the world because you come across as an out of touch fool.
-
I would hope that a high percentage of cops would have handled this situation very differently. One can assume they do because this situation has become national news. Old people flipping out on an officer about a ticket is not news unless somebody goes above and beyond. Police departments don't want robots who just blindly follow this magical "book". They want individuals who can use the tools they were given to make choices on the fly and handle situations within the boundaries of the law. Whats next tasering a toddler who is running at you? He could be a terrorist strapped with explosives.
-
Are you kidding me with the way the cop escalated the situation? She is saying give me the ticket and I'll sign it, and he screams in her face. I understand that he needed to get her to the side of the road but what a horrible way of handling the situation. This officer was dealing with a 72 year old women who was visibly shook from being pulled over. What a jackass.
-
I said it before, if you can't physically subdue a 72 year old woman without hurting her, you need to turn your badge in. Nobody was begging to be tasered but even so, this guy needs to use his head. Tasers have been known to kill people, especially individuals who have weak hearts. The officer was willing to take that risk, when he could have easily dominated her. That's what doesn't make sense.
-
The book can only take you so far. In any profession you need to be able to think on your feet and make sound choices given the circumstances. You can't train for everything. You are right to reserve judgement dog, but it's hard to imagine anything that could have justified his actions.
-
I meant to say you beat me to the punch.
-
If you can't subdue that women without hurting her or roughing her up, please turn your badge in.
-
See mine below. You are the superior typer.
-
If I'm a cop, I wrap her up and carry her to the otherside of the vehicle. He could have easily cuffed her and completely controlled the situation. I understand it might have been by the book but when does common sense take over? Every profession has SOPs, sometimes you have to think for yourself. Your damned if you do and damned if you don't anyway, might as well act with compassion.

It sounds like the first model mecha moves like James Hardy. Mecha on Mecha fights sound pretty awesome though.
