How often does a team fire a coach midseason and immediately hire somebody outside the organization? The team has to attempt to continue the season within the current scheme or at least a variation of it. A coach with any sense is going to review all his possibilities in the offseason and evaluate his options. Contracts aren't usually set up for mop up duty in the replacement season. The NFL still has the Rooney rule and I'm pretty sure they weren't conducting interviews for Dick's job while he was still here. I'm suprised we have heard anything at this point.
Stupid thread.
Actually it makes all the sense in the world. IMO teams like the Giants, Steelers, Eagles, and Ravens are built a certain way. Teams like the Cardinals, Saints, Chargers, and Texans are built another. We need to be like the first group and bigger players is a great place to start.
Possibilities:
1. Jauron only has 10 plays he really likes
2. Edwards can only make 33% of the throws required in the NFL.
3. AVP is a backup OC in this league
You are wrong. This team is one of the least talented groups I've seen in a long time. Yes the coaching sucks but it shouldn't erase the fact that the talent sucks too.
We have absolute garbage at the QB position. By garbage, I mean amongst the absolute worst in the league.( think Cleveland and Oakland) The line is porous, inexperienced, undisciplined, and weak. The RBs are decent to good. The WRs are vastly overrated. TO has stone hands and has little motivation, while Evans is and always has been a one-trick pony. Do we even have a TE?
The defensive line is average in pressuring the QB but weak against the run. The team is very lucky that injuries have been limited to Williams, anything else and it gets much worse. The LBs are a joke and that includes our longhaired sally of a MLB. The secondary is good.
Watching Chris Johnson run circles around Poz today was actually refreshing. I was getting tired of watching backs just go through him like he was cornerback.
The Bills are great at finding solid contributors throughout the draft. They seem to whiff early though and miss out on really elite talent.
I'm very happy with our guards. I can only imagine what this past draft might have looked like if we had grabbed Oher as well.
At this point a Bills TD would supercede all morality. I wouldn't give a crap if the said player dropped trou and showed the Ralph how to apply his new favorite Hemorrhoid cream.
Agreed. All the clever Eric Moulds comparisons don't make up for the fact that he looks completely outclassed in the NFL. Moulds was a guy who needed to learn how to play at the pro-level. Hardy needs to be reborn in a different body. He sure is tall though.
The Bengals are for real. They have drafted really well defensively for awhile and it's paying off. Their franchise QB is healthy and playing well. The WR known as Ocho Cinco seems focused and happy. The former bust RB from Chicago is actually carrying the offense at times as well. Solid team that has put it together. The Bills should be taking notes.
All that being said, the Steelers are till the Steelers and they are starting to look really nasty again. That defense gets to Carson and they win a close one.
Side prediction: Heath Miller has a huge game.
The player rankings are pretty weak. It's not a good indicator as to how a unit plays as a whole. Green Bay is on pace to give up a ridiculous number of sacks, and even contend for the record. Our line is bad but not historically bad.
Bruce Smith is very happy he was blessed with a HOF worthy skill set. We all hope that Maybin turns out to be great but just like James Hardy, concerns are mounting. Personally, I enjoy analyzing players without the moronic restrictions some of you people have. I don't give a crap about staying within an unwritten time frame. I'm not afraid to be wrong and willingly admit it when I am.
Hmmm.......... This sounds like the last stand made by the small contingent of JP fans last year. The best thing that can happen to Trent now is actually less playing time. The less he plays the better the chance someone accidentally makes him their backup. Unfortunately for JP this plan wasn't in the cards and he played himself out of the league.
The second best chance he has (it's a longshot) is that dog14787 becomes the coach and GM of a trainwreck NFL team.
