  1. Buddy Nix should/could be involved in the search and he is already on the payroll.
  2. Hitting TO in his stonehands, has worked everywhere else. The guy is one of the best all-time recievers, that has the dropsies sometimes. His lack of production this season was because we couldn't get him the ball. What about Evans? He should qualify as a decent weapon. The team definately doesn't have questionable playmakers. An above average QB would have put the ball in these playmakers hands alot more effectively than TE and Fitz. First off, TE is petrified to even look downfield and Fitz couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Manning, Brady, Mcnabb, Brees, Rivers, Warner, Rothlisburger, Rodgers, and a couple others would be at least a TD better in most games this year. I'm not saying they would have put up the same numbers as they do now but they would be miles ahead of what we had.
  3. False. 1.loss to NE by 1 2.loss to Cleveland by 3 3.loss to Jets by 3 4.loss to Carolina by 11 5.loss to Jacksonville by 3 6.loss to Jets by 6 7.loss to NE by 7 A good QB wins us at least 4 of those games and puts the Bills at 9-6 going into the final week.
  4. Some of them are surrounded by very talented coaches and o-lines. Some of them are overcoming below average o-lines and coaching. The bottom line is, "many teams aren't making the playoffs with less than stellar QBs". In fact it's the complete opposite of the point you were trying to make. QB play is and always has been the most important factor in winning and losing. Obviously, all the other pieces of the puzzle are important, but they are a distant second.
  5. I like this idea Fingon. You are going to get alot of naysayers but it makes sense. Buddy Nix has nothing to do with the polluted OBD food chain but that will be the complaint. The question is can Nix at 70 do the job and would he even want it?
  6. So far the QBS that have clinched a playoff spot are as follows Manning, Brady, Palmer, Rivers, Romo, Mcnabb, Favre, Rodgers, Brees, and Warner. Good point, alot of bums on that list. Clearly they all benefit from elite o-lines and never have to deal with pressure.
  7. I'd take Jackson and Sims off your list, but the rest is rather dismal. Kyle Orton is going to be signed by the Broncos and Pennington's future is in limbo with his latest injury. Brunell, Volek, Feeley, Huard, Batch, Collins, and Garcia have all proved they can't get it done or haven't gotten it done in a long time. I want a legit competition for the starting QB spot. You're mistaken if you think the team would rally around Mark Brunell being handed the starting job in 2010.
  8. Warner,Holt, and Faulk all showed they could play at high level without Martz. Martz has failed to show he can coach without them. The players are going to the HOF and the coach is unemployed.
  9. He could melt it down and make Marshawn a new grill (mouth jewelry for our older posters).
  10. Nah. I like Vick's abilities as a temporary solution, especially given our protection issues, but the circus would be considerable. I'm not sure the risk is worth the reward with Vick. The guy has a career quarterback rating in the 70s and relied mostly on his wheels. Watching him play sparringly this season, really makes you wonder about that speed. Troy Smith is almost five years younger and comes with no baggage.
  11. Thanks TS. The Ravens were high on this kid. I read an article about how the Ravens veteran players were demanding that this kid start during his rookie season. They praised his leadership and ability. Obviously Flacco isn't going anywhere and this kid wants to start. Brohm and Smith fit the mold of the type of player this team needs to go after. I'll take hungry talented youth over a broken down journeyman.
  12. Right, because you must be happy with the current QB situation. Either that, or you have a surefire stud QB available that no one knows about.
  13. +1 I think he also got very sick last season and lost some time during the pre-season.
  14. Yes, in his rookie season he could not beat out Kyle Boller. Oh the horror! In his second season he was seriously sick with some kind of rare illness and Flacco took over during his absence. Flacco has started ever since and Smith has been 2nd string.
  15. Yup I'd bring him in. He has upside and youth on his side at least. We need to get lucky on a QB and not risk a first rounder trying too. Some fans need to face reality. This "Bona Fide starter" and "franchise Qb" garbage is unfortunately not a possibility. The franchise Qbs are gearing up for a playoff run right now, not requesting trades and hitting FA.
  16. Perhaps it had something to do with fielding 5 HOF players on offense. The Martz system was exposed painfully during his brief stops in Detroit and San Fran.
  17. not even in the ballpark of being true
  18. This team is the worst IMO. The 2009 Bills are further away from competing than any other team of the decade. 1.No GM 2. No Coach 3. No QB (not even a mediocre one on the roster) 4. Horrendous o-line with best young player dealing with nasty injury 5.Pathetic group of undersized LBs who led to worst run defense in league 6. Aging, average, and terribly thin d-line that also deserves much of the blame for run problems. 7. A failed star WR aquisition that will leave this team very thin upon his departure. Hardy and Johnson as starters 2010? plus Reed 8. The best RB on the team is going to be 29 and has been a career journeyman. He is good though. Unfortunately his example doesn't seem to be rubbing off on his 23 year old counterpart. The former first round pick looks out of shape, has no vision, dances too much, and laughs on the sideline when his team is being blown out. He is also one strike away from a severe suspension. 9. The team is littered with high picks that have shown zero promise. (Byrd aside) 10. Last and most imortant, the team is still being led by an owner who has no structure in place and hasn't learned how to build a franchise. This is continous though and has been present for every team this decade.
  19. Forget the Pro Bowl, I just wanted to see him show a single sign of potential. I don't count his pre-season sack either, lets be real. Actually, in all honesty I was hoping he would take Kelsay's spot or at least work his way into a timeshare. Hardy and Maybin have done virtually nothing to encourage hope.
  20. Football is a team sport. Putrid teammates don't help an individual look better.
  21. Ripping Schobel is just bizarre. He has been a really good player for this pathetic franchise, over the last decade of losing. The lack of winning that has gone on here has nothing to do with his play. In fact, it's entirely possible that he would have had better numbers and more accolades on a real NFL team. His career numbers are very similar to Julius Peppers. Peppers is supposedly one of the premiere DEs in the league and has played on far more talented d-lines over the years. If Schobel retires, the team just has another gaping hole. As it stands, DE is a weakness even with Schobel. The guy is 32 years old and playing hurt but is the only DE on the team that even matters. We can't even rotate our ends because of how inept the talent is. I don't blame Schobel for wanting to retire. Without Schobel, would there be a more pathetic group of DEs in the league? The Kelsay experiment has failed. He is not much better than Denney and Denney is a borderline backup. Chris Ellis has flat out stolen money from this team. He makes Maybin and McCargo look like studs. At this point Maybin is no where near capable of being a starting DE. What a mess that position would be.
  22. You can get rid of the others. Throw the MK-19 on your list too. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mk_19_grenade_launcher
  23. 1. David Garrard is not going anywhere. The Jags aren't going to let him go without a better option and rookie Tim Tebow is not starting. Kolb is not realistic either. You would have to put together a Matt Schaub or Rob Johnson style package for them. The team can't rebuild it's lines by trading away picks. 2. If Brohm can be a serviceable starter? Do you think he's going to prove that over the next two weeks? Even if he plays well, I sure as hell wouldn't want to just name him the starter and not have a backup plan. 3. I agree with no QB in the first round. 4. I agree with taking a chance on a second-tier type rookie like Pike. Bad move to just throw a rookie into the fire though. 5. I agree TE and Fitz are done starting in Buffalo. I could see Fitz being a backup but TE is gone. 6. With all of this being said, you had no better idea than anyone else. The bottom line is, the Bills aren't going to find a surefire starting QB this offseason. The best plan would be to bring in a couple of cheap FAs with possible upside, a rookie or two, and Fitz. Fixing the lines and LBs should recieve the majority of the team's effort and resources.
  24. Dennis Dixon deserves a shot. I look at him and Troy Smith the same way. They both are backups who have looked decent in limited playing time, both are on teams with permanent starters, both have had injuries to overcome, and both have been labeled as strong leaders.
