You're probably right on McCluster's stock going up and down. I don't think the Bills could afford taking him in the second round but to me he is worth the risk in round three. Durability is always a concern when dealing with players his size. Keep in mind that Dexter had 181 carries last season, (6.5 average) in the SEC. Down the stretch his workload was expanded and his carries for the last five games were 22, 22, 25, 24, and 16. Mix in 44 receptions on the year and I think he is more accomplished and proven than Roscoe Parrish, who had 42 receptions and 9 carries his final year of college. If McCluster is used as a changeup RB/WR, I think he could be a solid weapon for an NFL team.

Bulaga- quality OT and another quality move towards building a solid O-line. Pike- high potential QB, who could be in the mix for starting right away or down the road. McCluster- explosive and dynamic playmaker. His stock is rising fast and I doubt he's available this late. Schofield- good rushing OLB and could contribute from Day 1

I noticed the same thing.

Is WR also a need in the draft???

Nice post. Your thinking out loud gives a nice perspective to this offseason. -

Manning or one of our bums aside, that group of WRs is putrid. It might not be the top need but it certainly is a need. The good news is, we have many picks and there are many FAs. Do you think we are going to aquire 7 OTs, 6 LBS, and 4 DTs? -

Yup. Teams grab explosive college players every year and the NFL is full of guys that make a difference right away. -

Isn't totally proven? James Hardy and Steve Johnson have 22 catches combined over two seasons. Shawn Nelson had a decent rookie season as a tightend but counting on him as WR next year is foolish. Lee Evans is not a number 1 in this league. The Bills are woefully thin at the position and if Reed is gone, they will aquire someone else. -
My prayers and thoughts are with you and the family, Beerball.

Gotta go with the "Mario Perry" clone, despite all the surefire HOF players available.

Peter, Paul, and Mary. Watch it, you're still on probation.

My rollercoaster of how i view Tebow goes as follows: 1. As a backup to Chris Leak I liked Tebow. He made Florida games interesting and was a good change of pace for a creative offense. 2. His rise to college greatness wore me out though. Like many of us, I was Tebowed right into rooting against the kid. I never actually disliked him but the constant fellating of Florida, Meyer, and Tebow made me . 3. Now that he is hated by many and is being questioned for the next level, I'm back in his corner . The hatred for his religous beliefs (which I don't even share) and his criticism only fuel my hopes for him more. Good luck Tim Tebow!

+1 I'd love to get either of those two.

Trent Edwards has had serious playing time in three straight seasons and has regressed so badly, that he was benched in favor of Ryan Fitzpatrick and lost the support of the team. I'll take the unproven guys with potential over the guy who has proven that he doesn't belong.

Yup, Satriani should be on every guitar list.

Mark Knopfler is the man! I can't believe it took this long to see his name.

The Jests are good and have potential to be really good next year. Sanchez and Rex Ryan were both learning on the job and should be better with a full season under their belt. Kris Jenkins and Leon Washington barely played this year and both are very very good players. The team was only in it's first year with it's offensive and defensive systems and growth usually occurs after a year within a new system. ..... don't like the Jests but no need to ignore what's going on.

I wish the Bills went 0-16 in 1997

I tend to agree. While the coaching over the last 10-12 years has been mediocre, the quality of players and depth of this team has been downright awful. Bills fans like to think that alot of these players were good but just not developed correctly. I can respect that logic but only to a certain extent. The majority of the problem is the inferior talent, that can't be fixed with solid coaching. -

False. Great players make for great coaches and rarely is it the other way around. Manning would have been a winner on any team in this league. Tony Dungy, Bill Polian, the Irsay family, and all of Indianapolis should be thankful they got Manning. I'd like to see how well they would have done nurturing and developing Ryan Leaf or the next guy for that matter. -
Please. The race card is so freaking tired. If that goofy Boise state linemen knocked out Blount it would have been the same national spotlight. When was the last time Icognito knocked out a player on national television? It was a blatant loss of control and Blount humiliated himself for 20 minutes after, including swinging at fellow teamates. Put the race card back in your pocket.

It's a sucker punch, when the sucker doesn't have a clue a fight is about to happen. Trash talking is part of the game and you back it up on the field. If you really feel like one guy's immature words merit a punch to the face, then I feel bad for you. I'm not condemning Blount either. He made a very high profile mistake and one mistake doesn't define a lifestyle.
-
Punk ass-talking happens in every game and something Blount has always taken part in. Blount personally runs his mouth just as loud as anyone. You back it up on the field, not by sucker punching someone.
-
Some kid is talking junk to another kid and you support the windup, sucker punch? Apparently you missed the part where the Oregon players were taunting Boise before the game and Blount was front and center. Would that have been a good situation to execute a sucker punch too? I'm all for giving the kid a second chance but let's not pretend he made the right decision.

I agree it was a disturbing loss of control but college kids are emotional trainwrecks by nature. If he has a clean slate otherwise, I'd trust him. I don't know what his story is, other than that incident.
