Gunner's 2021 FINAL Mock Draft on PAGE 21
Magox replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A lot of work you put into it, I appreciate it. I wouldn't be opposed to going for a difference making DB. Everyone is talking about the pass pressure which is critical but you also have to have a good defensive backfield. Without the DB's that can hold their man up to certain time period you have to have players that can cover long enough for the rushers to get to the QB. I'm basically for the concept of drafting BPA (unless it's a QB). -
Source: LB Matt Milano looking for “top dollar” in FA
Magox replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's earned the right to see what his value is in the open market. This is his best opportunity that he will most likely ever see to have maximum earning power for his career. If the market is soft then the Bills may be able to get him at an attainable rate. -
If Beane really wants him I think he'd go as high as a 2 year $26 million fully guaranteed deal.
-
I bet that sounded better in your mind than it did out here.

Setting expectations.

I tend to dismiss things that come from people on crusades.

The free agent defensive class is really good

I was looking at his career stats along with what he did this year. Apparently he never came close to having as big of a year as he did this year. He had 13.5 sacks this year and 4.5 is his second highest in his 4 year career. He also happened to get 3 sacks in two games against the Bucs and 2 against the Chiefs when he faced them this year. -
Mcshay Mock has Najee Harris to Buffalo
Magox replied to 78thealltimegreat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Najee has breakaway speed and is plenty fast enough to hit home runs. Power, size and speed. Weights 230 and runs 4.45 -
Well, he's Patrick Mahomes and he can get away with saying that without any real ramifications aside from some possible on the down-low animus/grumblings against him from some of the players. With that said, I just can't see Josh Allen ever doing that and we're just fortunate as hell that we not only have an elite franchise QB with the skill set of a god, but that he's equally as good of a human being as he is a player. Enjoy this ride while you can because it's just getting started and lots more good things on the horizon. We are embarking upon a golden era for the Bills.

ESPN way too early power rankings

You shouldn't base it off of their production this year because it's a different team, different scheme etc etc. Lawson, though no spectacular was a good edge setter who could get some second-third effort sacks. Phillips was a player for the Bills the past couple years that could make some really nice penetration sacks and TFL. I'm not second guessing Beane not re-signing those guys but the production they gave this team the year before last was more than the guys we brought in. The Defensive Line was most certainly weaker against both the run and pass from that year. I have no doubt that Beane will make the defensive line a main priority in this year's FA/draft. -
It depends who the player is, if it's a younger single guy who likes the limelight then no, but if it's someone who already has a family and wants to be part of the great locker room type team Buffalo has and a shot at the ring who is already financially secure, then yes I could see Buffalo being very appealing. Either way, Buffalo will be a better option than many other places and I expect the pool of FA's to be deep for discounted quality players. We're gonna find out soon enough. There is a great story to be told for Beane to prospects to join the Bills and I'm sure he will be telling it a lot over the coming months.
-
I don't agree with that at all. This is going to be a year of tons of discounts due to the cap and Buffalo is a hot up and coming team that has a chance at the ring as well. Plus the reputation of Buffalo and it's culture is another appealing aspect that will help attract Free Agents. Beane is going to earn his money this year, I'd expect them to be very active and I think when it's all said and done Buffalo will have added a couple well-known players on 1-2 year deals.
-
I think he's a possibility but not at $2m-$3m. I think he could be had possibly on a one year $8-$10m a year deal which should be taken in a heartbeat. Cutting Addison and Butler can more than make up that amount.

Brandon Beane end of season press conference 1/27 11am
Magox replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think you are going to see a lot of 1 year and bargain deals this year. We aren't the only ones who will be facing these issues, in fact most teams are in much worse cap position than we are. Thankfully we have a competent GM. -
I bet Diggs will ask for a new contract
Magox replied to DCofNC's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Fun fact. John Brown had his best season ever in his first year with the Bills with Josh Allen as his QB. Beasley had his first two years with the Bills with Josh Allen as his QB. Diggs had his best year ever with Josh Allen as the QB. Josh Allen is the common denominator. Saying Josh will make 35-40 million a year will end up being farther off than 50-60 million a year. Josh will most likely get a 10 year 500 million deal. -
Micah Hyde - surprise cap casualty?
Magox replied to Royale with Cheese's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's what an ass kicking from the team that is in the way of a Super Bowl will do to you. That has to be the focus of the team: Defeating the Chiefs. -
The Diggs drop wasn't a turning point of the game sort of drop and frankly, that drop was excusable as he was hammered on that play. The Singletary drop not only was an easy catch to make, but it was hugely important. We were up 9-7 after KC had just easily marched down the field to score. If Singletary makes that catch we get a first down most likely inside their 40 yard line. Who knows what would have happened at that point and how that would have altered the end result of the game. Most likely they still win but nevertheless it was a momentum killer.
-
I think the answer is that they have to do a complete post mortem of those games that includes a thorough examination of their defensive and offensive philosophy and decide what schemes and systems they have to implement with the focus on how to beat that Chiefs team. And from there evaluate the personnel and see what kind of players they need for each of those schemes to defeat that team.

The league is constantly evolving and McD/Daboll/Frazier need to go back and re examine this game 100 times over and come to some hard conclusions and make the necessary changes. I think on the surface they need to give up playing this soft shell zone when they play a team like the Chiefs. They have to be able to bring the pressure and have the corners that can play man to man when they do bring the house. Watching that game, everything looked easy for Mahomes. He made a few really nice plays but for the most part he was throwing to receivers that were either wide open sitting in soft spots of the zone or their play makers got lots of separation and the throws were pretty easy to make. The reason why it looked so easy is that they had a great game plan/scheme against the Bills defense and they executed it flawlessly. On Offense, we were just too one dimensional. They keyed in on the intermediate to intermediate longer pass plays and dared Buffalo to dink it down the field and we just weren't doing that. Everything looked difficult and the line wasn't holding up to their 4 man rushes. The shorter stuff would have been there all game long if they had decided to just hit the 5-10 yard routes throughout the game. Oh well. Great season, back to the drawing board.

The turning point of the game was when the Bills were up 9-7 and it was 2nd and 7 right past midfield on their side of the field and Singletary dropped the pass that would have definitely gotten them the first down and at least to the 40. That was a huge drop. The most infuriating play of the game was the Chiefs first possession of the second half and it was a 3rd and 5. A stop here and the Bills could change the momentum. The Bills decided to play Hill with a 10 yard cushion and it was the easiest 3rd down conversion you'll ever see. All Hill had to do was run 6 yard and turn around. I can live with us playing aggressively and blitzing and they converting against that. But just giving them the first down on such a crucial play was mind boggling. Again, I'm very thankful and happy with how the season went but that game was the worst coaching performance from McD/Daboll/Frazier that they had all year long.
