Interesting rushing stat involving Allen and Singletary
Magox replied to Magox's topic in The Stadium Wall
I think we also can’t discount the insertion of Doyle as the blocking tight end, since he has been inserted the run blocking has been lights out -
Since week 13, both Allen and Singletary are in the top 7 in rushing yards. Singletary at #4 and Allen at #7. Look at Allen’s ypc - wow. The offensive line has been on fire!

This cannot be understated. The perceived need for a guard and RB were areas of major concern for me, I was thinking that we either needed to get a stud guard and RB via the draft or FA. They both have been playing at a quality level which have tremendously helped this team out. Dane Jackson has replaced Tre White about as good as you could have hoped for and will have to have his best game yet this Sunday. Horrible Harry is becoming the player I thought he could always be. In college he got sacks and run stuffs with an unbelievable motor. Every time he began to start playing well he has been derailed with injuries and thankfully (knock on wood), he’s had his longest stretch of playing without injury. That cannot be understated and now he’s beginning to believe in himself in that he can beat his opponent consistently. Confidence is a hell of a drug

I read it, thank you. Absolutely insane all the WR combos and the fact that Diggs was only out there for 60% of the snaps. So many different looks to game plan for.

Do you have a link to that article?

There was a playbook already set against the chiefs in the first half of the season and that was to play two deep high safety play and to take away their chunk yardage play. The Steelers kept getting beat over and over with deeper chunk yardage plays. Buffalo led the league in not giving up those sort of plays and I fully expect that they will make KC earn it all the way down the field and to follow that same playbook with additional wrinkles to counter what they anticipate the Chiefs to counter against that playbook. With that said, if the Bills win I do think they will need to put up at least 30. The Chiefs I would to blitz a good bit and hopefully Dabol and Josh are ready to get the ball out quickly and do lots of 4-7 yard passes and check downs. I also think that Josh will need to run it 10-12 this game, his legs and mobility is the equalizer and key to the offense to break their defense down.

I remember reading camp reports about Bates a couple years back when he joined the team that there was inside chatter about the Bills brass being hopeful about his prospects for being a big contributor to the team and how they loved his versatility. It somewhat surprised me that he kept getting overlooked and surpassed by other interior lineman for any of the starting roles and now that he has gotten his chance he is playing as well as any interior lineman we have had in a while. He’s been a revelation, he is very mobile and is an excellent pulling guard and seems to hold his own at the point of attack. I don’t know if this is just a great 5-6 game stretch where he is playing above what he is or if this is what we should come to expect. If this is the level of play that he can continue then he could be the long-term starter. The offensive line right now is playing at a very high level, which I believe is one of the big reasons the Bills are in their 5 game win streak.

I wouldn’t call common sense a super power, but if you insist. When Josh evaded the defender with Brown assisting him with getting enough on the blocker (which was a great play by Spencer Brown), he had clear vision of the end zone. You want me to believe that he thought he threw it where no one could make a play on it? If he wanted to just throw it away to where no one would make a play on it, he would have chucked it further out. Like I said, I think he thought he was going to throw it in a spot where no Patriot could make a play on it and was genuinely surprised when Knox made a play on it.

I know what he said

Was this the best performance from a Bills offense we've ever seen?
Magox replied to Draconator's topic in The Stadium Wall
Josh was able to convert short third down runs with sneaks, runs up the middle and sweeps. He was able to scramble and break tackles, run with speed and break ankles of DB’s. He was able to make check downs that went for positive yardage, medium, semi deep and deep passes. The run game with Motor was able to convert short yardage third downs, get good chunk yardage and be Josh’s safety valve and we were also able to effectively use McKenzie as a change of pace runner. The offensive line pass blocked and ran blocked at an elite level. The wide receivers were able to make incredible catches with defenders draped over them. This was perfection! -
I don’t believe that to be the case. If he was throwing it away he would have thrown it further out. I think he was throwing it at a place where he knew no Pats player could have made a play and was genuinely surprised that Knox came down with it.

Dave Portnoy emergency press conference (Super Arrogant Pats Fan)
Magox replied to The 9 Isles's topic in The Stadium Wall
That never happened. -
I think when you were thinking about this thread, the thought was better than the thread itself.

He's been plagued with injuries throughout his career, every time it appeared he was beginning to get a hang of things he'd get hit with an injury. Phillips for Stanford was not just good at run stuffing but he had lots of sacks as well and if he can remain healthy, I think what you've seen from him this last half of the season is not a fluke but rather the beginning of his ascension.

Buffalo vs New England Wildcard Game: 8:15 PM Saturday Night
Magox replied to transplantbillsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall
“Why didn’t McDermott make the weather colder” - Scottlaw -
He’s a fearless runner, he runs at full speed hoping to hit and bust through a hole for a big gain which leads him running into walls. With that said, I would prefer McKenzie as well
-
Frazier has been great. The Bills defense has consistently been a good defense specially so against the pass. With that said, I believe McDermott also plays a role in that and I believe that he and Beane would find a good replacement for him. Enough so that if that trade rumor were true, I would jump all over that. The Bills are heading into more challenging cap territory and 2 early mid round picks could potentially land a low cost starter, which is what Buffalo will need to do to stay in their SuperBowl window.

All the info that was necessary to make a decision was available, even if you look at how the CDC is formulating their decisions, very little of it makes sense, confusing and contradictory. They are being driven by outside forces, companies, labor shortages, $ etc and they are beginning to wind down and go off the exit ramp. Not under the terms that they had hoped but winding down none the less.
-
I don’t think some of you are truly appreciating the New England run. The hesitation move slowed the defender down just enough to get by him with JC Jackson perfectly positioned to make the play only to have Allen make a slick crossover like move that Juked JC Jackson so badly that he completely whiffed and made him hit the other pursuing defender while Allen scoots by for the critical first down. Considering the importance and the degree of absurdity and difficulty of that run, I would say that run is my favorite. Only a handful of QB’s, if that could have made that play.

Week 16 Bills Covid List - Players and Coaches
Magox replied to Hapless Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall
With the CDC’s new recommendations, do we know how this will impact those already on the list? -
Barring any COVID major developments, I fully expect to come the Bills to come out and dominate. The switch has been turned on, Buffalo will be playing with a high level of urgency from now until the end.
-
That ball didn’t even come close to hitting his hands. It hit him right in the middle of the arms, he was a good foot from his hands. Just shows you he had almost no chance of catching it. He didn’t even whiff coming anywhere near close to catching that ball. That ball must have been wobbling and whirling in the air.

Zay Jones had his best year as a pro his last year with the Bills with Josh Allen. John Brown has his best year as a pro with his first year with Josh Allen. Beasley has his two best years in his first two years with Josh Allen. Stefon Diggs has his best year ever with his first year with Josh Allen. Dawson Knox had 0 TD catches in college and now has 9 TD’s and becoming close to a probowl caliber TE. This isn’t a coincidence. Many of us who watched the Bills lose to the Dolphins his rookie year where figuratively took the team on his back knew we had our franchise QB. And to watch him progress all his stats from year 1 to 2 to 3 knew that he was a very special QB in the making. Josh Allen would shine for any competent offensive play caller, would they run the same system that they do for Mac Jones? Of course not, they would open up the playbook and unleash Josh’s unique god given talents. Mac Jones is a good heady QB, and I think he will have a fine career but he will never be able to make the off-schedule plays or anything close to approaching Josh Allen.
