$2.8M Bills Cap Space (after signing Reserve/Futures)
Magox replied to ColoradoBills's topic in The Stadium Wall
With Josh’s new contract, isn’t he able to convert some of it in a manner to free up more cap space? -
I agree, if the market puts him above $6m a year, I don't think the Bills will sign him....Dane Jackson looks like he would be the eventual replacement and would expect the Bills to use one or two draft picks to pick up a DB to replace Wallace if he were to leave.

I honestly believe he and Beane will reflect on what went right and what went wrong and will look to address that. I think one of the things that they will do after they perform an audit on themselves is that they will find that he McD needs to get better with some of his game time decisions. I think they will also start believing that they can be even more aggressive than they have been, they have Josh Freaking Allen, they need to realize that. This team plays better when coaches and players are all with the aggressive mindset. I believe Beane will look at what is happening with the Rams and see that they have a model of urgency. I don't believe he will look to be as aggressive as them but you have to believe that he understands that we are in a SuperBowl window and that window could begin to close somewhat and that they can be aggressive to get that hopeful difference maker. Look at a lot of these successful coaches, Andy Reid and the Eagles parted way because there was a stigma attached to him for not being able to win the big games or Belichek with his first stint. McD is relatively young and he has had tremendous success considering what he was inheriting. He isn't without flaw, OBVIOUSLY, but I honestly believe they will learn painfully so from their mistakes. The Bills have a really good thing going on right now, we are good enough to win a Super Bowl the way we are, it just didn't work out because a lack of situational awareness from the coaches. Last year, they played the Chiefs and tried to address what they needed to beat them. They know what they need to do, it's just a matter of making sure that they draft well and get the players we need in FA. We have Josh Allen, and as long as he is upright and healthy and we surround him with weapons, we will always be in the hunt.

He knows they screwed up and I'm sure he feels worse about it than anyone else. He is a man of integrity and high character and I wouldn't be surprised the "execute" part has more meaning to than we know. In any case, it was a colossal screw up and messed up a team that was good enough to be the Super Bowl winners. The Bills are good enough to win the way we are. With that said, 13 seconds does not and will not define a man who was at the forefront of turning this organization around. He cut out cancers on this team and many fans were outraged that he got rid of them. They ended up being the right decisions, he ended up creating a culture of accountability and brotherhood, he turned this franchise from a 18 year drought laughing stalk to a blossoming perennial power. He brought in Beane who made the decision to get Josh Allen when all the "experts" and people on this board were salivating over "right" Josh. He knew he was going to get his QB the day he was drafted, and traded away picks to make sure he had the draft capital to get his man and they did. For that, we should all be eternally grateful for Beane for doing so. It hurts and it sucks that we lost, specially the way we lost. But in no way shape or form does that take away all the things he has done with this team and I have no doubt in my mind (barring injury to Allen), that this team will reach a Super Bowl or two.

HAHAHAHA This thread is ridiculous. Anyone who thinks that McD is in any danger of losing his job is delusional. McD, rightfully so is on super safe ground. Him being fired hasn't even crossed the mind of the Pegula's. They most likely love him to death and feel extremely fortunate to have him as our head coach as the players do as well. Yes, did they %$@* up the last 13 seconds and everyone knows it. They will never forget those fateful 13 seconds and undoubtedly will be a stain on his career and memories of many people, but he is a damn good coach and he has led the turnaround of this franchise WHICH WILL WIN A SUPERBOWL at some point and most of us are thankful that he is the head coach of the Bills.

McDermott should say he took over defensive play calling the last 2mins
Magox replied to Rigotz's topic in The Stadium Wall
Ridiculous - Leslie Frazier has had top 5 and top 10 defenses for 4 out of the last 5 years, without any real superstars. Yes, they got burnt by the Chiefs, but who hasn't? The Chiefs have a great offense and they are playing on all cylinders right now. I think many of these teams that are looking for coaches would love to have a top 5 - top 10 defense. That's not to say that he should be a head coach, but he has been a very good defensive coordinators for the Bills. It's easy to say "fire him" which is ridiculous, to replace him with someone better that shares McD's philosophy would be difficult. If you've paid attention to this organization in how they operate from the Pegulas, to Beane to McD they all preach continuity. This team most likely will look to hire from within to elevate to the position and hopefully the person they elevate will be someone who can add a wrinkle or two to the defense. -
You may be right, personally I think he is a $8-$10M a year DB. I know many on this board don't believe he's that good, but he has been good.

Thank you for this write-up, a lot of work you put into it, I appreciate that. I won't get into details but more of a high level overview. - It's easy for people to say cut this guy and cut that guy, but in order to do that, you have to replace them with someone you believe is better. So the Bills have to be very judicious with that which I'm sure they will. - I would definitely bring back Levi Wallace, he had his best year and is worthy as a good low cost #2 DB - With Zimmer returning that gives us flexibility to cut Star and release Butler - Draft a DT for rotational depth - early mid to mid rounder - Keep the offensive line in tact - They played good enough to win a Super Bowl - Draft depth at Center and Guard for hopeful eventual replacements to Morse and Williams - Extend some players and get creative with cap (I think you can convert some of Allen's money to create good cap space) - Go for the best pass rushers possible in FA - Von Miller has made a huge difference for the Rams - He is available and so is Chandler Jones - Hason (sp)? Reddick is available as well. Even if you have to make a trade, inquire on Khalil Mack if need be. Just do whatever it takes to get an effective edge rusher that can consistently get pressure - Let Edmunds play out his 5th year. He is nowhere near as bad as many on this board make him out to be. He is not elite but he is better than average. - Re-Sign Oliver - he is becoming a pro bowl calibur player and I believe he is now believing that he can be one. Confidence is a hell of a drug - Draft two fast and dynamic offensive play makers in the top 3 picks. Allen is the team. Without Allen the Bills are average. Get him playmakers, Look at what Tyreek and Kelce do for Mahomes, they make plays for him. We need more play makers to compliment the best player in the league (Allen). This is what I'd like to see done.

If Brady retires, would you want Gronk for one season here?
Magox replied to Peace Frog's topic in The Stadium Wall
Would love it. He isn’t any of the options above but he would still be a decent receiving option and awesome blocker. -
Do we now become a “goto” destination for free agents.
Magox replied to billvernsays's topic in The Stadium Wall
One of the top destinations, without doubt. Yes, the weather sucks and it’s not a big city market but it’s a team ready to win it all. They would be coming to Bills Mafia, the best fan base in the world. They would be coming to a team ready to win the Super Bowl. They would be coming to a team that is a brotherhood. If you are a receiving weapon, and they did a little research they would see - Being a receiver with Josh Allen = Best year ever. They have Josh Allen, he is the main reason to join. Buffalo needs get aggressive this off season and do what it takes to get another playmaker and someone who can get to the passer on a consistent basis. -
You guys are a real hoot. We were one of the laughing stocks of the league who hardly ever was able to reach above mediocre play for 20 years. Then McD and Beane change the culture of this team, cut out all the cancers and assembled a roster that has gone to the playoffs 4 out of the five years and legitimately have a team that could have won the Super Bowl. This team will win a Super Bowl within the next few years.
-
The Bills are just as good as the Chiefs, and Allen is as good as the Mahomes. I know you are seeing things right now in a very negative light but I don’t see how any Bills fan can not be optimistic with our long-term outlook. Why? Because we have a top 2 QB who continues to get better. Top 2 QB’s end up winning Super Bowls and this one will be no different.
-
He wouldn't be a bad pick up at all. Reddick can get after the QB
-
After watching Von Miller bear down and harass Brady all day yesterday, I came to the same conclusion. The Rams have a type of defense that could give the Chiefs more problems than most others. Their ability to get to the QB is one of their strengths and the way Miller is playing now he changes how effective they are. There are a few good Edge Rushers to be had, Chandler Jones and both Von Miller are UFA's, these two should be heavily considered.

The Bills will win a Super Bowl or two, it could have been this year. Two great teams, arguably the two best slugged it out and we literally lost on a coin flip. Bills will be back
-
In order for the Bills to win, the way I see it: 1) Offensive protection has to hold up enough time for Allen to get the ball out. 2) The Wideouts will be pressed very physically and they have to quickly disengage and get some separation. AFC championship game they were unable to do so 3) Daboll has to call a bunch short routes, slants and outs to counter the blitz 4) Allen will need to make quick passes Singletary and settle for the 1st down 5-8 yarders 5) Josh will need to run the ball 10+ times and escape the blitz and punish them (see Bucs game) 6) McKenzie should be used for the edge runs 7) Singletary will need to rush for 70+ yards 8 ) Employ a similar defensive strategy of the two high safety with a few wrinkles. Make them earn every yard and not allow many chunk yardage plays. This is when KC is at their best offensively. 9) The front 4 has to rush Mahomes with controlled chaos, don’t let him roll out often and try to keep him in the pocket. 10). Front four should work extra hard in getting batted passes, specially against their short to mid passes, which is what I believe KC will be throwing more often than not. 11). Last but not least, Josh has to ball out. He balls out and the Bills very likely win.

That was great, such a humble dude. Thanks for sharing
-
I agree with all this except the prediction. I think they will try to save Josh’s running for red zone opportunities, big games during the season, down the stretch and the playoffs. I think they have to save his body for those occasions. But without doubt, this offense is better when he runs.

Luck of bad weather against the Pats and unlucky that there was a ref who didn’t make the obvious PI against the Bucs. That would have won the game.

Are we/media setting ourselves up for a defensive battle?
Magox replied to Steptide's topic in The Stadium Wall
I’d be shocked. The way they both have been playing offense of late, I’m thinking they will put up 60 between the two. -
Of course the ultimate goal is to win a Super Bowl, but it’s also important to enjoy the ride. I am very thankful that the Bills and Josh Allen have given me so much to root for and honestly speaking, that NE game last week was one of the most enjoyable games I have ever watched and I’m grateful that the Bills made that happen.

JT O'Sullivan with the snark - Josh Allen film session
Magox replied to LeviF's topic in The Stadium Wall
I love these sort of intelligent in depth videos and the part where Josh Allen juked the DB and then right afterwards went on to pretend to pick up his dead soul from the ground and where Motor was pointing at the DB right after he was juked had me rolling 😂 -
You are stuck in the bushes worrying about the minutiae of the stat itself. Forget about the headline, the point is that this two-headed monster of Singletary and Allen have been one of the best and most effective running attacks since their newfound ground game. They are getting lots of yards, converting short third downs, have a high yard pc and getting into the end zone at a ridiculously high rate and it’s largely because of the ground game. This is a big reason why Buffalo is looking so dangerous.
