  1. i was one, among many, who offered support to the OP based on the actual post. if it was a fake story, well, i was duped, so be it.
  2. no, they did convert costa to tackle,
  3. i agree with a great deal of your thinking about the present state of the game . i must admit my emotional attachment to the bills hasnt wavered, but they way i feel about watching a game has changed much like you stated. i remember just watching a game, see a great play unfold and not totally be consumed worrying about a flag. .. now that is all i think about. between the "pop culture" image the NFL is keying into and the officials taking over the sport, not the same.
  4. for sure! in the brown paper bags, another great memory that you took for granted.. i think the same black gentleman sold them for years at both the rockpile and the aud. i do believe that is why guys like us just keep coming back .. but the feeling of being a punching bag does cross my mind lo these many years.
  5. that band lives in the memories of all of us who experienced them. over the years talking to old friends, or people you would come across and talk old bills at WMS, the subject of the band always came up. all i know is that band playing in the right field corner was very much a part of the distinct culture of a bills game at WMS. there are many books about the brooklyn dodgers and the romance they had with that borough, the tradition, the band at the rockpile, the sights, the smells of those days is very close.
  6. Me too! when i saw this thread, that pic came immediately to mind. very sorry to hear of his passing.. R I P...
  7. good points! totally agree, well done.. just hope that friggin train horn has been put to rest.. it is a jinx.a total fluff point i know. but dump it..
  8. i agree about the bills earning the right ,and the small market aspect doesnt apply . obviously the packers are the case in point. until the bills get "relevant" the latest term the spindoctors like to use , sunday nights etc, wont happen.
  9. i know, but greg hardy is back and i realize there is no video, but IMHO i think the firestorm has subsided. isnt the present day forgiving society all about second chances? but i appreciate where you are coming from.
  10. ray rice.. be done with it.. screw the PC crowd. bring him in ,if greg hardy, aldon smith and all the other guys who abuse women have gotten second, or even third chances, give rice a look.
  11. i hear ya about being old, i can recite lots of "chapter and verse" about the bills going back to1960, but cant remember where i put my car keys sometimes.
  12. warner did play corner too.. but always liked his kickoff return skills.. was a waiver pick up from the chiefs i believe
  13. LOL!.. il bet i am older! anyway,.. it was tough living thru the rauch years, followed by harvey johnson. brutal .. just absolutely brutal , both the call and living thru the 70's playing miami.
  14. ok.. i think that is when he seemed to intercept passes at an incredible rate.. at safety. many long INT run backs.. my mind is probably gone, but didnt he return an INT 103 yards against miami? ? maybe called back? not sure.
  15. actually greene played corner too. not to nitpick.. but if memory serves me, he was either switched from safety to corner. or vice-versa. ,
  16. i love when the "old guys" post! so refreshing.. i thought butch byrd and booker edgerson were the two best corners at the time. as i recall, byrd was shaky in his first preseason game(s). did have a few missteps as a rookie.. but solid.. good at returning punts also.hopefully this will be a "glib free" thread.
  17. i am not ready to make any rash judgements, but i must admit that on more than one occasion during the past 3 games, i did make mention while watching the game with friends how i thought schwartz's D seemed more aggressive, and just plain . better. not ready to jump off the rex bandwagon, but JMHO
  18. all good thoughts by everyone and quite simply i agree with everything said. just reflecting on the last few years, lotsa hope was generated, particularly after that oakland win, and fitz-magic.. only to be disappointed as usual. this year, DOES seem different, the talent level has never been higher since 1999, same with coaching.. i can see 8-1 going into new england.
  19. i say incognito, his play has been damn good, and him assuming a leadership role would be natural and beneficial to the team and him.
