  1. i agree with you, i really think we are on the same page. we both want the bills to stay and the stadium upgraded. i would love for wilson to commit "X" amount of dollars toward the upgrade, but past history says he wont, not saying that is right, just positioning myself to face reality. i hope i am wrong and he does contribute, it would be ideal.
  2. i totally understand the climate is not condusive to handing wealthy NFL owners taxpayer dollars. my premise is that taxpayer dollars are going to be spent, wasted, regardless, why not make sure some of it is put toward upgrading the stadium? at least we would realize a tangible result of spent tax dollars. the stadium is the "people's" stadium(actually owned by erie county), putting the "people's" money(tax dollars)into keeping the stadium viable would seem to make sense to me.
  3. please! laying off teachers, firefighters and police? that does not happen! especially in ny state, i am a retired govt employee and very much in sync with the plight of municipal employees. allocating 50- 100 million to upgrade the ralph will not mean that policeman or teachers will be layed off. it is a specious argument at best , the big picture must include the bills in buffalo, at the ralph.
  4. i know that the yankees contributed, not sure about the mets, but what the state contributed to both is considerable in comparison to what would be needed for upgrades to the ralph . the bills are the only NFL team that contributes directly to the ny state tax base and it is up to the local reps to secure what could be deemed a "fair share". taxpayer dollars are wasted daily and will continued to be, i want the part of tax payer dollars spent for upgrades to the ralph. if nothing else, it is a "quality of life "issue.
  5. i think the most telling aspect of the lease will be the provision of a "buy out" clause, obviously. i actually wish there was not going to be one, just iron clad, locked in lease. it is probably unrealistic to think that, but lets hope its not "peanuts" in comparison to what a group like the one in L A could easily afford.
  6. i am hoping cuomo will be sympathetic to western new york and the bills. as we all know, taxpayer money to billionaires does not play well at the present time. rational thinking probably supports that premise, but as i and others are aware of, NY state gave millions in assistance to build yankee stadium and citi field. we are do our fair share, no matter what one's feeling is on taxpayer money to NFL owners. the politicos in ny state must come thru.if you want to look at it from strictly dollars and sense, the bills are a positive force.
  7. i can agree with you on all fronts. leaving the buffalo area for family reasons 3 years ago, i rely on the media in all forms to get my info on the buffalo sports scene. needless to say, i am always reading ESPN, PFT, and all the other websites, looking for bills news. it seems to me that the bills are slighted, no doubt, but as much as it pains me to say, it is due to the fact they are not relevant, they stink. you can always find stories on romo, the cowboys, raiders, you name it, but the populace just looks at the bills as an after thought. market size has nothing to do with it, the franchise has been in a malaise for so long, it will not change until the mindset of the franchise does.. i e: trying to win.
  8. i would not mind firing gailey, what is the difference? what is another "3-5 year building program"? lets see?, maybe we can bring in gunther cunningham, or marty morningweig..
  9. "in spite of flutie" ? really.. but i do agree with you obviously on the kick coverage or lack of the correct call of an illegal forward pass.
  10. would he tell mike mccarthy to start matt flynn in the playoffs?
  11. the knox regime was a good run and i hated the way it ended due to ralph's interference and bungling. previous to that, lou saban left almost under identical circumstances back in 1966. we all know nothing will change until ownership does.
  12. i certainly agree about the "continuity" factor, and changing front office personnel, coaches every 2-3 years is a recipe for disaster for sure. however, as i am sure ,you , and everyone on here is aware, a "turnaround" can happen almost instantaneously if the proper decisions and RESOURCES are made available. littman and overdorf are running the show , and the bottom line is far more important than winning and the franchise will continue to spin its wheels until ralph passes on or a new mindset manifests.
  13. my feelings exactly. i thought any team was better than no team, but with wilson and his cronies just looking at the bottom line as opposed to actually trying to win,is frustrating, to say the least. every year is 'ground hog day", nothing changes and the outright abuse of the fans by the mgmt is starting to really get to me.
  14. i would endorse barbills in east aurora also, but connor's rest. on seneca st in west seneca has an awesome one also. if you wanna keep the buffalo food thing going, their fish-fry is the best!
