I'm not buying that... this summer's movies were not highly anticipated as compared with years past; in fact, they were brutal. I still can't believe that it took until November to get a good movie out there in J. Edgar (Harry Potter nonwithstanding). Who could possibly name all of the Top Ten movies of 2011 from this list, and have seen them? http://www.the-numbers.com/market/movies2011.php This year has sucked, a new low for mainstream Hollywood filmmaking. What once was an annual treat to enjoy movies has now become a yawn-fest. Only Martin Scorcese and Clint Eastwood can save us from CGI/bad plot/stupid comedy hell. Meanwhile, I'll just sit back and watch Rear Window, The Godfather, or Terminator and remember how well it used to be done. Watch Boardwalk Empire... there is where the essence of quality Hollywood filmmaking lives and breathes.

Don't expect miracles, because you will be waiting until eternity. I wish I had used my writing ability many years ago to write sports columns, because it seems as if there is a dearth of quality sportswriters these days. I do not see the best sportswriters throughout the country choosing to engage in character assassination just because someone disagrees with them, and the same sportswriter is taken aback when others dare to call them out on it. "Blithering idiots", "simplistic morons", and other phrases to shrug off disagreement that are thrown about by supposedly educated people are a poor substitute for actually attacking the argument and not the person.

Using your physical condition to make us somehow go easy on you isn't going to stop anyone from responding to your Jests nonsense. I never knew there was a video Lucky here because my parents (my father was a depression baby) and grandparents listened to all sorts of music, and so I've gone from Al Jolson and Louis Armstrong to Glenn Miller and Johnny Cash to 50s and 60s rock and beyond. I made the fading breed comment b/c you can rarely get any song on the radio that I grew up with anymore unless it is classic rock. I love satellite radio, where at least I can relive the past

We're a fading breed in this century, 70s kids... first songs I ever remember hearing were Summer Breeze by Seals & Crofts and My Cherie Amour by Stevie Wonder. I have so many Weird Al albums (Dickie Goodman, Dr. Demento strain) that I can't help but really enjoy that song.

I couldn't watch The Sopranos... to me the acting was substandard and I didn't feel it like Deadwood or Boardwalk Empire.

The war is over- you can't be in wartime in perpituity. Iraq will be a stable place due to the instability of other Arab nations around them, but if Saudi Arabia becomes a battleground, things will change. I don't think Iran has much influence, to be honest... they are so far from the mainstream Arab position that as long as Ahmedinejad is still in power, they will be a joke, like Chavez.
