  1. It is the same affliction that affects the Bills- the point is that no team is invulnerable from the Cheatriots* favoritism.
  2. This obsession with Jerry Sullivan gets really old... he's not the owner, or the GM, or a player. It is kinda sad...
  3. The statement was made that if Germany HAD overcome Russia, not IF they could have. At that time, the USSR was most certainly known to want Poland and part of Germany for reparations, but the other countries were given away by Churchill to keep the peace instead of hard bargaining. Stalin only took what he could get away with... The Germans has a plan to seize the Ploesti oil fields and much more, but of course the loss at Stalingrad and thin movements south buried that...
  4. Lee Evans' fate: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Clayton_%28American_football,_born_1982%29
  5. It always amazes me that when the cozy little nest of bobble heads feel threatened, all sorts of conspiracy theories abound. Instead of debating a topic on its merits, the "kool aid drinking liberal" labels fly like bees around a hive. Congress today is almost an exact duplicate of the mentality on this board, a course hell bent on everything being black and white and no room for compromise under any circumstances while the insults abound. NO SURPRISE we have a mess in Washington!!!
  6. They won't miss an opportunity to make money, but they know that they still hold control. It is precisely this control that maintains the current status quo, and if these nations dare to disrupt it there will be hell to pay. The incidents against South Korea did not lead to a war because of China, and this is obvious. North Korea must show that it is strong without going too far.
  7. Germany stabbed the USSR in the back, and we aided them in keeping the USSR going so they could grind at the best of the Wehrmacht. We could not have anticipated the actions of Stalin after 1944, and of course what happened was a result of winning the war. Any confrontation by the Allies over USSR demands could have triggered a continuation of the war against the USSR, to be sure. Are you saying that we should have let Germany defeat the USSR???? In that case, we would have lost the war, giving the Nazis a free supply of oil and the means to produce arms, giving them a one front war and Japanese aid. You are really scaring me with that theory! Wow.... This HUAAC ruined the careers of many INNOCENT people, just like Salem took the lives of many innocent people. These people made a name for themselves by looking for a 'guilt by association', i.e. since your friend has a friend that is a Communist and since you won't say anything bad about your friend, you must be guilty. These people did irreparable damage to others lives and they should be vilified- is it really a good policy to ruin the lives of 99 out of 100 people to find 1 person that is truly guilty? Shameful, disgraceful conduct. Remember Burgess Meredith? He didn't work for YEARS, years wasted because of the HUAAC... that man was a good man, a decent man, and yet he was blacklisted. An honest democracy-loving, red blooded American... CAPTAIN in the Army Air Forces, one of many.
  8. Despite commentary to the contrary, Russia's interests are not completely counter to our own- they have just as much of a fear of Iranian/North Korean/rogue activity as we do. Putin may appear to be a relic of the old Soviet system, but he's no fool. We are ensuring a bulwark of defense against the most dangerous elements of the world. This idea that Russia and China are our mortal enemies is silly- radical Islam by far wins that distinction, and if certain strategists weren't so stuck in a Cold War mentality and hell bent on an outdated way of thinking, we'd be in a better position. Let Israel do the dirty work in Iran, let China keep North Korea in line, and we can focus on reducing the Islamic threat. This story is just a red herring for conservatives to steam over.
  9. Inevitably it is not just a mistake over not escalating the Sandusky incident, but a series of cover-ups that put the Penn State reputation above all else. It wasn't just one case of a 'mistake', and it is sad that there will be people who will defend him to the hilt.
  10. I feel sorry most of all for the victims of Jerry Sandusky and those who decided to fire him today, because they will inevitably be blamed for his death which is totally insane... and the man lived to be 85 years old, which is really over the average life expectancy. RIP.
  11. I know exactly what you mean, no explanation required. The ability for the USSR to obtain badly needed materiel for its military through Iraq was crucial in the war effort, as was the prevention of oil to Germany in the Balkans. What astonishes me even to this day is the underappreciation of the Soviet war effort in winning World War II. The HUAAC is an extension of the old Red Scare of 1919 and 1920, except in this case Miss Rand and others chose to terrorize Americans by actively supporting the committee in its witch hunts.
  12. Gingrich said his ex was lying. If she's right, then he is lying. Hence, he's a big fat liar about marital issues. Pretty simple... and the GOP is all about character WHEN IT SUITS THEM.
  13. You mean Ayn Rand the red baiter? http://www.aynrand.org/site/News2?page=NewsArticle&id=6125 Ohh yeah, knew about that. I love this ignorant statement: Miss Rand: I don't know, because on the other hand I think we could have used the lend-lease supplies that we sent there to much better advantage ourselves. I could only imagine if my great uncle had not been a part of aiding the USSR against the Nazis (as a member of the QM arm of the US Army in the Middle East) and they had fallen. That's just blatantly ignorant stuff, and the Red Menace HUUAC BS is just too much to comprehend. That's right, Miss Rand, let the Nazis overrun all of Europe and let the Soviets fend for themselves. Great military strategy. Very impressive.
  14. ...and yet you'll gladly take their Keystone pipeline like a big fat economic handout. Don't disparage Canada because you've got an agenda- there is a reason why Niagara Falls, Ontario is far different than Niagara Falls, NY.
  15. Be very, very careful with your choice of words... People in this country forget where they came from, poor families of multiple children for centuries. You probably wouldn't be here if at least one of your ancestors had not popped out your descendant in a shack somewhere, but then again continue on... you OBVIOUSLY know all the answers.
  16. His lawyer is his SISTER... *yawn* Sounds like genetic failure to me.
  17. Appreciate what, the TIMES he dropped the ball? You confuse the number with the timing... and this doesn't even factor into his unsportsmanlike gaffes. No one wants a Ronnie Harmon hands in crucial games out there!
  18. Yesterday they backed off of their criticism when they found out his whole quote, to be fair- except Ron Paul, of course.
  19. I listen to CSPAN radio... the calls fuming over Romney on the Republican line are hilarious. They call him Obama's twin brother...
  20. Fine, get rid of it all across the board. Sounds like an outstanding solution. You first... or maybe we should go for the Hitler plan of 1933 so you can no longer have ANY opposition to your policies. Sounds about right after your statement Romney? No one is worried about Romney winning in 2012... the only fear comes from the conservatives as they have as much vitriol for Romney as they do for Obama! Add in the Ron Paul wackos, and you have some QUALITY entertainment!!!!
  21. We need a man like Theodore Roosevelt in office, but we end up getting Yosemite Sam or Daffy Duck... not much of a choice. Men like J.P. Morgan worked WITH the President to avert major crises through the use of common sense approaches that didn't sell the American people down the river. These days, you don't have men like J.P. Morgan... financial strength is gained through buying off politicians instead of responsible governance.
  22. They hire who exactly? Are their profits reflected in their price structure? Are the medicines they streamline safe? We can ignore those questions obviously because only profits should be a consideration for employment in this country, right? Who cares how companies profit, so long as money is made? Horrible philosophy, if you ask me. Who said I agred with the occupy movement? Not me... did you ask? No, you assumed. BZZT... wrong.
  23. The GOP has forgotten its historical roots, and abandoned a truly American approach to government in favor of the ignorant Hoover: "We must protect the crushable elements at the base of our present industrial structure. We stand for a living wage. Wages are subnormal if they fail to provide a living for those who devote their time and energy to industrial occupations. The monetary equivalent of a living wage varies according to local conditions, but must include enough to secure the elements of a normal standard of living--a standard high enough to make morality possible, to provide for education and recreation, to care for immature members of the family, to maintain the family during periods of sickness, and to permit a reasonable savings for old age."
  24. When the GOP candidates start talking about increasing profits for drug companies by streamlining the FDA approval process, giving out tax holidays to corporations that shift workforces overseas, and wants to 'streamline' approval of all energy projects regardless of environmental impact, there is no WAY I could vote for a Republican candidate. This isn't stimulating the economy to help the lower and middle class, but to help the upper class at our expense, as usual. 'Stimulating the economy' and 'Job creation' means subjugating us, and so now those of us like me who are disgusted with Obama will be forced to vote for him. ONE TIME I would like to hear them answer up for a law banning lobbying in Congress... just ONCE. The tumor of corporate lobbying has grown so much that the disease has ravaged our government, regardless of party. Someday it will end...
  25. Anyone trying to make that point now should be laughed at and ridiculed... the progress that has been made as I pointed out above proves this to be a fallacy. We're almost the minority, if not now... this victimization line has grown tiring. It makes me now want to root for the Latino community to moonshot forward to prove a point- it is not your race, but what you do in LIFE.
