  1. Which is why I brought up Travis Henry... you NEVER KNOW how things will shake out.
  2. Just by going through 1960-1967 and through the late 70's on, I found a bunch of them: Chuck Mercein (chose NFL over AFL, 1967 Packers) Al Atkinson (1968 Jets) Remi Prudhomme (1969 Chiefs) Chuck Hurston (1969 Chiefs) Paul Warfield (chose NFL over AFL, 1972, 1973 Dolphins) Keith Moody (1980 Raiders) Mario Clark (1984 49ers)
  3. David Nelson wasn't going to beat out T.J. Graham in the preseason (be honest), that's for sure, but now I hope the coaches have realized their blunder with Mr. Clueless Stone Hands. You're going to see a falloff with radical change in the coaching staff, so that's not really a hit on them in Year 1. You ought to know that you can't magically coach up OLmen who aren't up to snuff, no matter how good you are. They evaluated their play all season and now know what they have and can fix it. My Year Two list is pretty simple.... 1. Get rid of Graham. 2. Upgrade the OL and LB corps. 3. Fix the special teams. Everything else I can deal with... if they don't fix these three problems, it's gonna be a long 2015. PS. I am EXCITED about what Moeaki could do for us if he suits up in Week 1.
  4. Sometimes I wish we'd go against convention, grab another QB, and see what transpires. I know it won't happen, but if it does, I'll be ecstatic. The pressure to succeed when another talented QB is breathing down your neck really does inspire the very best out of athletes, and frankly Manuel needs that.
  5. So??? Just take a look at Travis Henry! Traded to Tennessee, suspended 4 games for substance abuse, had 1200+ yards and 7 TDs for Tennessee, and then... jail for drugs. "Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose"
  6. What kind of production did we get from our running game for half of the season when it counted? Not very good production, even with the split time between a sometimes hurt CJ and a sometimes hurt FJ. That's not on the OC, my friend. Our offensive line wasn't performing nearly as efficiently as it was in the past for the running game (546 attempts, #1 in the league by far to get to your #2 ranking in rushing yards), which probably has a lot to do with our anemic passing game, something which really rests on our QB, TE and WR situations. We must be more balanced and talented in order to free up more room for our running game to MEAN something.
  7. Which is why it will take a lot less to fix our defensive deficiencies. Unfortunately, we're locked in with Manuel at QB, which is becoming more risky the more times he misses games with injuries. The tipping point will be after next season, but we have the ability to improve NOW while awaiting that QB tipping point. The Bills will know by the end of the season whether or not Manuel will be our answer, but if we draft defensively we could actually snag a couple more wins and put us in a position to make the playoffs even if we don't have Manuel out there.
  8. You sound exactly like me.... common sense. We had no way in knowing he'd finally grow up a little, and Peters was a bum.
  9. They exploited our poor run defense, and so we have to change to their color, if you will. We are just not getting it done with what we have and fill-ins, so we're going to have to address this mightily in the offseason. The direction we take is based upon which strategy we're wanting to implement- the "score more points" strategy, or the "improve run defense" strategy. I myself prefer the "improve run defense" strategy because of our weaknesses at QB, TE and #3 WR... it will take far less to go with the latter and draft defensively like the Jets have done.
  10. We can't run screens for him on every play, and he's really hurting our offense by totally relying on speed alone. Many players such as Don Beebe, Keith McKeller, and Roscoe Parrish who were really fast have done far more in an offense than this guy.
  11. OK, I can buy that to a point- he wasn't panning out and Hilliard wasn't getting anywhere. However, in a game where we were riding a winning streak in New England, he is STILL out there, and I don't care if he caught a TD, so what? Hilliard is not deciding which WR is starting where, and with the horrible season he has had and the lack of progress he has shown, I'd rather see ANYONE else out there but him. If he was a special teams ace like Parrish, that's awesome, keep him there, but he is NOT, and a waste of a roster spot. Hackett and Marrone MUST accept the fact he is not panning out and act accordingly with Whaley to address it.
  12. Whoever made the decision to keep Graham on the field over the other guys should have their head examined. He's easily the worst "one of the very fastest" guys the Bills have ever had. EASILY.
  13. I forgot to clarify... keep drafting QBs IF Manuel doesn't stay healthy. OOPS
  14. 1. C.J. needs space, but we need more than FA linemen to do that, obviously. 2. I'm sick of Stevie and Chandler...BOTH need to be replaced. Jettison the mediocrity. 3. Keep drafting a QB until we find THE GUY, because as of now you have to actually be healthy during a preseason or season in order to get snaps.
  15. I don't agree with the first part... Art Monk had several years of waiting before he was chosen, along with Lynn Swann. The receiver position is one of the most competitive positions in the balloting, and you have to serve your time unless you are like Jerry Rice. Andre is just having to wait for his turn, and this year seems to be THE year- Harrison wasn't Jerry Rice, and Tim Brown has to wait longer.
  16. Remember the very first Bills/Panthers game in Charlotte? That was an awesome game. The Panthers thought that Oliver return for almost a TD was so exciting, but the Bills took it to them. August 19, 1996 L, 0-24 BUFFALO 65,231 In fact, we've known each other for almost 20 years. MAN is that even possible? I feel so old now. Doing fantasy football on posterboard, Township eats...
  17. The question should be: What would be your team if the Bills did get relocated? I have thought about that several times over the last few years, because I have no second team. My list breakdown: NEVER due to hatred: Cowboys Dolphins Jets Patriots Raiders Steelers NEVER due to city/dislike of fans: 49ers Eagles Falcons Giants Lions Ravens Redskins Texans Titans UNLIKELY: Bengals - Their owner turns me off. Buccaneers - Florida teams don't interest me. Cardinals - Arizona is in the middle of nowhere to me, no connection, bad history. Jaguars - Terrible ownership, weak fan base, Florida team. Panthers - The fans don't seem to be large in number and it's kinda blah to me. OK, so that leaves the following list of candidates: HISTORICALLY STRONG/GREAT FANS: Bears Broncos Colts Packers Vikings GREAT FANS: Browns Chargers Chiefs Saints Seahawks ACCEPTABLE: Rams I have decided that is IF the time ever comes to where we are screwed out of the Bills, I'd go with the Bears. I love their fans, their history, and the city. Until then, screw them and any other team so long as the Bills play in Buffalo. GO BILLS!
  18. Can we sign Julian Edelman and take him AWAY from the Cheatriots*? OOOOO I'd love that. Let Byrd fly away LOL
  19. YES!!! Two thoughts pop into my head... one, the vision of Andre that allowed him to change direction and angle his body to avoid tackles, and the other Thurman doing the same on an outside screen. That's what made them special... an I think Goodwin has a lot more of that ability than Graham.
  20. The Bills teams of the 90s didn't use many either... end arounds were pretty much the only ones they used, being VERY effective with Andre.
  21. The Pats* will definitely win and go to the Super Bowl... it's a stone cold lead pipe lock. I have no doubts. There, now I've done my service for TSW.
  22. That's because PPP is grossly undermoderated, and that PPP-like stuff doesn't fly in the other parts of this board.
  23. Retaining T.J. Graham as a starter. The guy KILLS our offense 90% of the time, and it is a huge liability to have him out there. If he's not returning kicks or a special teams ace, let him languish.
  24. Tom Brady and Bill Belichick won't be in New England forever... all this talk about being miles from challenging the Pats* is HOOEY. They are obviously not going to keep winning and eventually one of us will knock the Pats* off of their perch. The Dolphins collapsed, but they aren't completely devoid of talent... they DID beat the Pats* after all, something we did NOT do!!!!!! If there is anything to be ashamed about, it is the state of the Dolphins O-line and the half-filled lower level yesterday in Miami.
