  1. Please not another Panther. If you're going to bring in Panthers, bring in Kalill and Williams to shore up the offensive line. If you're going to target a wideout, make it Adam Humphries from the Bucs.
  2. I haven't seen a recent mock where he is available outside top three.
  3. There was a very nice article in the Tampa Bay Times the other day regarding WR Adam Humphries. He's a free agent. He's very unlikely to resign with the Bucs given the money they already have tied up in WR's. I think Humphries could be a legitimate free agent target in the offseason. He's certainly not the mystical #1 receiver this board wants but he can be a reliable outlet for Allen - Allen's Edelman if you will. I don't think it would take a ton of money either. My only question is whether he is a Zay Jones clone with better hands? I don't think Humphries is the guy to beat man to man coverage and he's not a burner. If we can spend money on the OL and radically upgrade it, are you willing to go into next year with Foster, Jones, Humphries and McKenzie as your wideouts? Another intriguing Buc FA is Kwon Alexander. He was on IR most of the year and I don't know how healthy he is but if they intend to move Edmunds outside (which I do not think is in the cards), Alexander can give you a run stuffing LB on the cheap.
  4. Wow. This would be fantastic. I'm not a capologist. Is this even doable?
  5. The consensus appears to be that the defense was not elite this year, not great or however you want to phrase it. To me, you can't be second in YPG, third in YPP without at least being good to very good. Contrast that with an offense that was at the bottom of almost every statistical measure and by many measures was historically bad. The logical way to go is to spend every available dime upgrading the offense. What if we're a player or two from that elusive elite or great defense? Take a penetrating DT (Oliver?) or a DE who can get to the QB (Allen?), sign someone like Anthony Barr, a hybrid OLB/DE who can give you a lot of versatility on getting to the passer. I wouldn't mind seeing that scenario at all. If you spend assets on defense, you've got too many holes to fill on offense to fix in one offseason. I'd take remaining money and picks to seriously upgrade the offensive line. Wideouts, tight end and running back will have to wait. That will be next season's fix. I think that fits the timeline. Next year markedly better; 2020 serious contender. Make sense?
  6. Isn't the question every owner and GM should be asking themselves is "can I envision this coach holding up the Lombardi Trophy?" Honestly, as much as I liked Marv Levy, after the third Super Bowl loss, the gross embarrassment 50 point blowout to the Cowboys, there was no way I could envision Marv winning a Super Bowl. Honestly, can you envision McDermott winning a Super Bowl? I can't.
  7. The worst part of this is that if he makes the catch, it's the beginning of the Josh Allen legend, reminiscent of Jim Kelly running in the winning touchdown against the Dolphins as time expired in the late 80's. The play becomes folklore. Instead, it's just another chapter in the long history of Buffalo Bills incompetence. I agree. It's time for him to depart.
  8. Serious question. Have you ever seen an athlete in a CONTRACT YEAR ever put in so little effort? In his contract year, Gilmore avoided contact like the plague but at least he seemed to put in some effort to play his position. KB from the first snap to the last just didn't seem to care.
  9. They're going through something similar in Tampa Bay. Winston was suspended, Fitzpatrick starts the season like a house on fire, cools off, Winston comes back, looks ok for a couple of games, has a horrid game at Cincinnati, gets benched, Fitz looks good to finish that game, cools down again, yet Fitz is announced as starter for this week's game. Unless you're 100% convinced that you're done with a guy you drafted #1 overall a couple of years ago, it seems foolish to start a 35 year old journeyman who's a free agent at the end of the year. Same thing here. Bills aren't going anywhere this year. Get Allen as much game time as possible.
  10. So our D is No. 1 in total defense, No. 2 in YPP, top ten in number of plays against (which makes the first two stats all that more impressive), middle of the pack in third down conversion, sacks and interceptions. Another poster opined that the high ranking was a result of teams "taking their foot off the gas" in second half of games. Anyone have any stats to back that up or argue against it? I look at the defense as good to very good, not great. Certainly playoff caliber with a half way decent offense. I'm hoping we don't totally ignore the defense in the off-season. Make an upgrade at CB opposite White, look for upgrade at OLB, sign J. Phillips, entice K. Williams to come back for another year. If they finished with #1 pick (which won't come close to happening), I wouldn't mind picking Bosa to upgrade from good to great. Of course, it shows the state of the league when a #1 D gets you 3 -7. No matter what moves are made next year, to a large extent it all depends on Allen.
  11. It only took ten games to get him into the lineup.
  12. Looking at the list, was 2013 the worst QB draft year since the 1970 merger? Leave it to the Bills to wait until the worst year ever to take a QB #1, especially after a glorious QB class in 2012. By the way, Andrew Luck is not a bust in any sense of the word.
  13. First Man with Ryan Gosling is supposed to be pretty good. Hamilton, of course, but that won't be in Tampa until January 2019. Does that count?
  14. Without researching NFL history, I'm pretty confident no team has ever successfully completed Single Digit Bingo in a single season. We've got a real shot! Zero - Check! Two - Difficult, not impossible. Three - Check! Four - Really, really difficult. Jets are probably are best chance. Five - Check!! Six - Check! Seven - How is this not already a thing? Total lock. Eight - Blowout, late touchdown and successful two point conversion (difficult, not impossible). Nine - Check! Seven games to cover four "squares". Let's get 'r done!
  15. In hindsight? Pushing hard to sign Teddy Bridgewater and using all that draft capital to improve the OL and WR.
  16. Hilarious. What a s***show. Happiest person to hear this news? Colin Kaepernick. Additional evidence for his collusion case against the NFL.
  17. A little off topic. So who "won" the McCoy trade? On paper, you'd have to say the Bills won hands down. We get 3+ years of ProBowl caliber running back for a middle of the road, oft injured LB who was traded after we traded him. But what did we win? Would the resources (player and money) have been better spent somewhere other than RB? This is the old Sabres topic. It really doesn't matter whether you win battles (individual trades), it's whether you win the war.
  18. I was going to start a separate thread but this may fit in this one (just about anything can fit into this one). It's the Animal House argument. "We're going to get waxed Monday night no matter what we do so we might as well have a good time doing it." Let's do something we haven't done in 17 years with Brady. Blitz every play. Play tight coverage. Hit him every play. Hit him after the whistle. Hit him at the knees. Hit him in the head. He'll kill you if you blitz but so what. He'll kill you if you don't. The penalties won't help but so what. We're not going to win the game no matter what. For chrissakes, he's 41, see if he can absorb some punishment. On an unrelated topic the local paper decided to print all time leaders in TD passes. Three of the top nine are from the same draft class (E. Manning, Rivers and Rothlisberger). Gee, to bad we didn't pick a QB that year.
  19. I'm guessing 2-17 for 26 yards in a very low scoring affair.
  20. I'm thinking Colts D may be a better move.
  21. I'm usually in the "he (or it) can't be any worse" camp but this time I'm not so sure. As much as Peterman is not an NFL-caliber quarterback, Anderson has essentially not played in the NFL for two years, joined the Bills about 10 days ago, and even when he was "good", that was back in 2008-2009. The one year he was really good, Cleveland beat the Bills in Cleveland in a snow game and he looked meh and the next year was the infamous 6-3 game (aka "the worst football game ever played") and he was 2-17 for 23 yards. 2-17!! I'm thinking it's going to look like Matt Leinart in the preseason game a couple of seasons back.
  22. Did you stick around long enough to check out D. Anderson's stat line from that game - 2 out of 17. That's when he was "good".
  23. Thank you. That's all I'm trying to say. IF you want to salvage the season (and maybe you don't for a myriad of reasons), Fitzpatrick - as of October 15, 2018 - is better than Peterman, Anderson and Allen.
  24. Also, it's a legitimate question as to whether the season should be saved. Is 4-12 better than 8-8, given the cap space opening up next year, given another opportunity to pick a blue-chip prospect and given that some people believe it's better to play Allen for the game experience than to sit him.
