  1. I really think the Bills have to get a FA QB that could be considered a starter (Vick, Smith, Flynn, Henne, etc).

This will allow us to shop for a QB in the draft not by drastic need, but buy sound decision making (Draft BPA in Rd. 1, then assess the QB landscape based on who reaches in Rd. 1) If we come out of this draft with a developmental guy (Nassib, Dysert, Jones) then fantastic, we can build out the rest of the team and have the Veteran QB fill the gap. If Geno falls or Glennon destroys the workouts/combines, we'll be right there to take one of them. The FA QB is then the backup.

It also allows the Bills to play a little guessing game with other GM's and not be so predictable. That will help us in any trade up/trade down scenario. I cannot stand Buddy's MO when it comes to telegraphing picks.

One scenario that I hav enot seen discussed all that much: What if there's a franchise LT as the BPA when we pick, and QB 1, 2 and Te'o are off the board?? Would not be surprised if we let Levitre walk, move Cordy to Guard and install the new LT. Wouldn't be terrible but our needs elsewhere are too great. My pick there is Werner.

    NO CB!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Even with recent history, I refuse to believe that one of 32 prized jobs at the highest level of competition would ever result in having to keep an outright failure like Gailey in place. I also refuse to believe that between big name retreads, hot coordinators and successful Collegiate coaches, that we should have to settle for less than a top candidate. Yes, the Bills franchise is less attractive to people but in the mix there are types that LOVE a challenge like this.....and if they have one iota of familiarity with the community, they know they would be god-like and immediately a part of history if they were to be able to turn it all around. You can go to Philly where anything less than a SB appearance will be seen as "worse than Reid", San Diego where they're bitter that their superstar roster never went that far and you're close to a total reboot of the roster and a move north to LA, etc., bigger cities, better weather, more stores for the Wife etc. but....

There is no other community like this. It's a dream job for someone out there...that is our guy.

It's up to our FO and hopefully new GM to find that guy. I do not want a transplanted hick either, or a guy that needs a bunch of 2* Michelin restaurants and nightclubs to be seen at....give me a guy that wants it cold and nasty and Buffalo-style in December with playoffs at stake.

    Time to find THAT guy.

  3. The Graham pick may turn out to be fine but it's a he'll of a lot harder to find a very good QB than it is to find a serviceable wide receiver. At the same time, Spiller's performance has taught us not to judge these guys too quickly - and maybe that the staff doesn't know what they're doing with them to begin with. I'll give Graham a pass for now. It is not his fault where he was drafted, or whom the Bills passed up for him.

The frustrating thing is watching guys like Kaepernick, Dalton, Wilson, and Cousins slip past the Bills when it should be obvious to anyone that our QB has severe limitations. Fitz is not terrible, but he'll never be terrific. And you have to be getting some terrific QB play now and then to win in the NFL. Drafting Aaron Williams instead of a QB looks like one of the bigger blunders of the Nix regime. It's the kind of move that lends credence to Bill in NYC's feelings on DBs and the Bills.

I really think Buddy got his GM education right there ....thinking everyone was adhering to the same value charts when it came to the 1-a and 2nd tier of draft-ready QB's. 2 years in a row, he thought those guys would just linger around, he can sneak another non-qb pick in, and still have them there.

That is why he needs to be fired; he managed the situation not by aggressively addressing our most desperate need, but by what he thought everyone else would do and pre-packaged thinking.

We need a war time Consigliere!!!!

  4. If Geno there - take him and never look back

    No Geno - Te'o

    No Te'o - Werner

All 3 gone - I fear that we're going to reach for Glennon too early.

I would rather trade back into 1 for Glennon or take Landry Jones in the 2nd or Nassib/Dysert in the 3rd.

I am assuming we are going to get an FA veteran QB to insure we have an opening day starter if the rookie isn't ready.

  5. Eli won 5 road playoff games out of 6 en route to his 2 SB appearances. Romo is a stud and a stat lovers dream.....but he dreams of being as clutch as Eli was in the postseason.

But, no doubt, he is a very good QB. There are 8-10 other teams minimum that we would have to fight for Romo.

  6. Sacks schmacks. I don't care if my MLB ever gets a sack if my scheme isn't designed for that. A playmaking MLB sheds blocks, has good speed laterally and to the hole, and makes tackles. He is also a three-down LB that can drop into coverage and be effective in pass coverage. In short, a playmaking MLB is an MLB that makes the plays he's supposed to make when they are there to be made. It is the most critical defensive position in a 43 front and a good one makes all the difference in the world. And it's why we would have drafted Keuchly is the Panthers hadn't taken him.

If he chimes in with the occasional INT and sack, so much the better. But I will start with an LB that can simply play his position well far more often than not. Such is the sorry state of our LB corps over the years that better than adequate is a step up for me.

    GO BILLS!!!

    this.

He may not be Singletary or RayRay but....even If he is the next London Fletcher, I am in.
