He's a RFA, It's going to cost you a #1 Draft pick + his monster salary if the GMen don't match. Draft Tavon Austin, more electric player...more suited to grow with a younger team..rookie salary.
Exactly.
I feel that they got Kolb so that they do not have to reach at 8 for a non-top 10 QB
SF is likely to be packaging up picks to someone come draft day....They have few and very specific needs for their SB-ready roster. I'm hoping the #8 slot is where SF can target Vaccaro - we then get our QB late 1.......and plug away the holes with 4 more picks in 2/3.
Granted it's not the best thread, in the OP's defense, Trade Fred for a 3rd round pick and the "All Name Team" featuring Barkevious Mingo....are 2 menu items out there right now.
My GOD get to the draft PLEASE!!!!!

Oh well....was fun to consider while it lasted. Sorry SJ13.
Hixon. For a #3 guy that has had to battle back from injuries, he makes the most of his snaps, and makes some pretty amazing catches. Great speed and can be a return guy. Good value.
People need to CHILL on this one....it's a 2 year deal with incentives making up a lot of the upside.
This is not the type of contract that you give to someone that you feel will be "The Answer". There have been a few posts saying that it was a flexibility move....and they could not be more correct.
We are absolutely drafting another QB and the "open competition" will have 4 QBs in camp
Can see Kolb in a starter role to open the season and then having the rookie take the helm midway...and if it doesnt work.....we draft franchise guy 2014.
NOBODY is reading the tea leaves here and figuring our 2013 campaign to be a playoff season....so why NOT use this year to set up to solve the QB issue ....If not then next year for certain.
Those that are reacting as if we just went all-in to make Kolb our future may be overreacting. He's going to be the starter this season and 100% our backup next year IMHO.
Sorry but Romo will NEVER be the guy that carries the Boys on his back.
It's a difficult position for Jerry.....hes every bit that good but hes not remotely that great.
This is the pre-draft noise/garbage that convinced Jacksonville to make Gabbert a top 10 pick.
It's not that they bought the hype directly (which they may have), the fear that everyone else was buying the hype and was going to try to get there first....makes some GM's nuts!
God I hope that we do not fall victim and get our guy for the right price - we deserve to look smart to the rest of the league for once!!!! Let us find ourselves the QB version of the Cordy Glenn pick!
