  1. Make that Eastern Illinois...sorry I know….WHO????? This kid has put some ridiculous numbers up in his last 2 years and reading what other coaches say about him, he is a QB that could be there in the 3rd/4th - higher if he crushes the combine etc. I know it's E. Illinois and they do not play Bama and Auburn, 5000 yards is still 5000 yards. It's his size, mechanics, accuracy and the fastest release in College Football that the scouts say make him an NFL-ready QB. Great attitude, film geek and tremendous leader seem to be things they say as well. There do not seem to be a lot of knocks on the guy. Urban Meyer "one of the best quarterbacks I've ever seen'' http://articles.chic...ack-urban-meyer I have not seen him play a down, have only read a bunch of articles and stats, just wanted to get his name out there and see what the collective comes up with on him.
  2. A lot of information on college QB's comes out of the combine and pro days…so many are acknowledging the need (which is glaringly obvious) but are going to follow the progression of several prospects and see whats feasible for us. Last year at this time, Geno was a consensus #1 pick of the draft among the draft gurus…..so, there's that. Then the answer based on your thoughts would be to go "all-in" on Manziel or Bridgewater and let Thad and EJ duke it out for backup. Neither of those two draft choices are looking like they're going to need a 3 year "grooming". We do not have on this roster a QB that could have put our very talented supporting cast in a position to win any one of the 4 Wildcard games this past weekend. The QB play was a level that makes me sad for us and what were pinning our hope for EJ to become. Because of our lack of a true starting QB, we are indeed NOT a playoff team and could not hope to be in 2014 unless EJ makes significant strides and stays healthy. Two things that I would insure against if I were our GM ]. I would never fault the Bills for doing such a thing as betting the farm because, like many here, I have watched this QB monstrosity play out all these years in agony. I am not advising the all-in move but those that say we should stand pat are advising that we do the same damn thing over again and expect a different result - the very definition of failure. I have to believe that the NEW Coaches and the brain trust of the Bills know this.
  3. He's under the radar because Vandy, albeit an SEC school, is usually a punching bag and doesn't usually put 1st round talent out there (I think Cutler was their only one). I like that too - he topped a very tough conference from a perennially weak team. Just lit it up in their bowl appearance...playing in the Senior Bowl. From his stats, he looks like a guy that is open even when he's not open. "All-time SEC career leader in receptions (364) and yards (4,950). Is first SEC player with 90 receptions or more in back-to-back seasons and is the first player in conference history to record 100 receptions in one season. In 2013, has 107 receptions for 1,334 yards and can add to those numbers in Vanderbilt's bowl game."
  4. We dominated KC until that pick 6.... Carolina TD to SJ13 was the highlight of the year for this fan.
  5. Watch.......it's going to be Vick. Have a feeling it's either us or the Jets. didn't say that I wanted it....just want to be sure that it's represented as a strong possibility so we don't all collectively have strokes when it happens.
  6. Jordan Matthews out of Vanderbilt is a WR with the build and skill set that we all seem to want - was highly productive (led the SEC in receptions) and projects as a high 2nd rounder. We would not have to go "elite" WR with our first pick and if a trade down is in order, this would be a nice pick for us with our first #2.
  7. Dalton removed, the QB play in the playoffs has been some of the best I have ever seen...ridiculous actually..and we still haven't witnessed a down from the two legends and the two phenoms.
  8. What Finn said....except my choice of the Hundleys would be Brett Never mind..... http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/01/05/report-brett-hundley-to-stay-at-ucla/
  9. It would be a risk to name EJ the starter 2014 and not do everything possible to bring competition into camp and let the best QB win the job. More of a risk than picking a College phenom QB that has at least a 50/50 of becoming a top NFL QB. Conservative ploddy rebuilding processes are a thing of the past....FA and salary caps are always working against you. You see a talent that helps you win now...get him. If EJ is the man....let him be the man after beating out other potential starters. he does not deserve the blind nod. Watch the QB play in the playoffs....and be truthful with yourselves.....do you feel that EJ can get to those levels and beat his competition? We could have the best supporting cast out there....No 6'5" WR can make him throw The long ball in bounds....the QB position has not yet been addressed ....this FO needs to look at all the possibilities.
  10. U mad bro?
  11. Aikmans career too was ended concussion related....he was a statue back there. Concussions are not style specific....it's a rough game.
  12. He will adapt his game to the pros and play Steve Young's style of game: Throw from the pocket, roll it out, tuck it in and go, create on the run….high mobility, high energy, fiery competitive and successful.
  13. I see him in a Bills uni brought in as the veteran mentor for EJ and a Russ 2 for 1 special as a marquee FA signing. I didn't say I wanted it.....but it would be soooooo OBD to do.
  14. RG3 is not a bust….that organization is a bust. EJ is not yet a bust….but is non-deserving of being handed the starting role for 2014….he should have to win it in camp. Up the damn competition any way you can and let him be come the guy….including drafting a QB. Jim - I am with you on taking the risks….but this organization just doesn't do risk like that. The risks they take wind up taking are the ones they make while trying to avoid risk…..LIKE….hiring a cheap .500 college coach, cheap first time coaches, picking Chan off the scrap heap (cheaply), Fitz's contract (not cheap, just dumb), Buddy at GM...knowing QB is our #1 need...passing on Russell Wilson because he doesn't fit the mold. It's their risk aversion and old ways that became the risk. The FO has been setting the organization back by throwing away seasons with their "safe" choices that turn out to be huge risks. My hope is that all of the other GM's and their groupthink shy away from the unconventional guy that is loaded to the eyeballs with swagger and "it" factor and we catch him at 9. Certain people have such character that they can be placed in any profession anywhere in the world….and they will win. Russell Wilson had that, everyone could see it. Manziel has it and then some.
  15. Jimmy Clausen was hyped up for his ability to run a pro style offense at ND…Blaine Gabbert was said to have the build, the arm and the poise…and Cam Newton was blasted for his "one read…then take off" offense….and how he would never be able to decipher pro coverage schemes. There are so many unknowns and even Peyton Manning was knocked by "experts" that offered reasons why Leaf was the better pro QB prospect. How many prospects come out of College that primed and polished as you say they need to be?
  16. No more Aaron M's on the Bills - too soon!
  17. Because of the QB hype and the amount of needy teams, we stand a GREAT chance to get trade offers at 9 for the top tier players in the other positions.
  18. This. Cutler deal is a great example of a team that knows what they have is far better than what they may be able to plug in.
  19. Cant decide if I would punch him or Jerruh in the face if I had the chance and only one to give.
  20. RB in 3 - tough to convince me there unless we deal CJ for some silly reason.
  21. We're not that type of organization, unfortunately. I have hope - the trade-down last year was a great move. I think that the reality is if we draft a QB, it will be a diamond in the rough, late-round type or even a UDFA. Not sure how the FO feels about our talent level at the position - but they are most-likely married to EJ for better or worse at least another season. Im terrified that the scrambling QB we bring in is going to be Michael Vick. That said, I hope JM goes to our suffering soul-brothers in Cleveland and gives them a superstar to forget about that sh-thead LeBron.
  22. Bingo! - I posted this in another thread: My feelings on the matter aside, X's and O's aside, and back to the business end of this: Would he sell seats? Would the league and the networks be compelled to show more Bills games to a wider audience? Would he sell merch? Would he be a marketable personna for the team? the league? Would the franchise become more valuable as a result? Finally, does the Bill's FO have an appreciation/affinity for the marketing side of the business? If his skills translate to the pros, an entire new generation of fans of that team would be instantly created….talk about expanding the target market.
  23. Just enjoying a team with a worse ownership situation than ours on this New Year. Danny Boy - a very young man in football ownership…lot of years to go for him. http://www.washingto...065e_story.html “This is the Washington Redskins,” he said of a team that hasn’t won the Super Bowl since after the 1991 season and has four playoff appearances and 136 losses since Snyder bought the team. Shanahan’s successor will also be the eighth coach, including interims, in Snyder’s 15 seasons of ownership."
