This article from the Murfreesboro Daily News Journal put an amusing, and decidedly Titanesque spin on the trade. http://www.dnj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?A.../507190305/1006 It basically says that the Titans owner wasn't really going to move forward with the trade until he heard Del Rio's comments from last week (where he said that the Jags were interested and close to a deal). I can't stand Del Rio. Anything that makes him and his big freaking yap look stupid is great by me!

Pro Football Talk: Donahoe "lucky!"
duey replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yawn...this guys vendetta against TD is getting a bit old. -
I agree. I think we have to be pleased with how it turned out. I think TD did a solid job at get a first day pick for Travis.

I'm opening up to you guys here...Moulin Rouge, with Ewan McGreggor and Nicole Kidman. Those songs...they're so damn catchy!

And...ouch! "Jacksonville was really up and down and couldn't seem to make up their mind with what they wanted to do," Donahoe said."

Patience Key In Henry Deal to Titans Mark Ludwiczak, buffalobills.com 07/18/2005 5:45 PM Patience was indeed a virtue for the Buffalo Bills as they announced Monday that they traded running back Travis Henry to the Tennessee Titans for a third-round pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. "We have completed the trade with Tennessee for Travis Henry," Bills' President/GM Tom Donahoe said. "Travis does have to report and pass a physical, it's our understanding that he's scheduled to do that [Tuesday]. But the trade has been approved by the league. Once he passes the physical it will be official." With a number of running backs available this offseason, both through the draft and through possible trades, it wasn't easy for the Bills to find an acceptable trade for Henry But they were able to get what they wanted all along, which was a solid third-round pick. "It's probably been almost as difficult as childbirth, at least from what my wife tells me," Donahoe deadpanned. "But we're really glad it's over." Donahoe was quick to thank Henry for all that he brought to the Bills during his time as a Bill. "I certainly want to thank Travis Henry for what he did while he was here in Buffalo," Donahoe said. "He was a warrior and an outstanding player for us. It became obvious to us toward the end of last season and at the conclusion of the season that Travis just did not want to be here. We really are not interested in having players here who do not want to be here. It just creates a distraction." Donahoe said the two teams came to a verbal agreement Tuesday night, at which time Tennessee asked for some time to work on Henry's contract. He also clarified the interest surrounding Henry from other teams around the league. Donahoe said the Seahawks had shown the next most interest, followed by the Jaguars (contrary to published reports). "Jacksonville was really up and down and couldn't seem to make up their mind with what they wanted to do," Donahoe said. Other reports said the Jaguars were close to a deal with the Bills. But Donahoe said that Jacksonville had planned on talking to the Bills after watching back Fred Taylor workout on Monday, at which point the Jaguars told Buffalo they weren't interested. Jacksonville tried to get back in the running Tuesday evening after the Bills agreed to a deal with the Titans, and Donahoe told them that the Bills had a deal in principle with the Titans, and if it fell through then they would get back to them. The Bills then didn't hear back from the Jaguars until Friday evening, at which point the trade details had already been faxed to the league. Jacksonville also did not raise their offer either. "Tennessee gave us the best offer and gave us really what we were looking for," he said. In the end, the deal worked out for both teams. Tennessee got a starting caliber running back (to compete with injury riddled back Chris Brown) and the Bills got a Day 1 pick in the draft. And Donahoe made it clear that he respected Henry and wished him the best in the future. "We liked everything that he did for us," Donahoe said. "He played hurt. He was productive. He was very durable as running backs go in this league. If Travis' agent would not have approached us last Feburary, and Travis was so adamant about not coming back, we certainly would not have gone out on our own and done this. We'd like to have Travis on our football team, but we just couldn't think it would work." During his four-year stay with the Bills, Henry rushed for 3,849 yards and 27 touchdowns on 963 carries. He had two of the best single-season rushing performances ever by a Bill with 1,438 yards in 2002 (fifth-most in team history) and 1,356 yards in 2003 (seventh-most in team history) before losing his starting job to Willis McGahee in 2004. Some of his highlights with the Bills include rushing for a career-high 169 yards in a win against Washington in 2003 and his two game-winning overtime touchdowns against the Chicago (in 2002) and Cincinnati (in 2004). Henry gained a reputation as a hard-nosed, blue-collar back after missing only one game due to torn rib cartilage and playing much of the 2003 season with a broken leg. In fact, going to Tennessee will be a homecoming of sorts for Henry. The back went to school at the University of Tennessee, where he was a member of the Volunteers' national championship team in 1998. http://www.buffalobills.com/news/news.jsp?news_id=3261

Not really, especially since he wasn't a starter for us anymore, and according to all reports, he's not going to be the immediate starter there either. Plus, he hasn't assaulted or mooned anyone lately, so what's entertaining about covering him?

Pro Football Talk: Donahoe "lucky!"

I stopped visiting that site a long time ago. I got more accurate NFL reporting from the guy in the next stall over in my office mens room, and the stink still wasn't as bad. The anti-Bills slant to his "reporting" is a constant. Plus, the crap he posts about other teams are just regurgitated from other websites. -
The whole thing was a joke, and in fact, it was even the real David Lee Roth. I, of course, bought the whole thing (though after last years April Fools joke, I did maintain a iota of doubt).

This as of 11:15 am... Despite reports that the Jacksonville Jaguars are close to acquiring Travis Henry, the Tennessee Titans have made the more attractive trade proposal to the Buffalo Bills and are the front-runner in the chase for the disgruntled tailback. Discussions between the Bills and the two most ardent suitors for Henry have been ramped up, and the situation remains in flux as Buffalo officials continue their efforts trade Henry sooner rather than later. The Seattle Seahawks, who had earlier indicated interest in Henry, apparently are out of the hunt. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio told the Florida Times-Union on Thursday that the addition of Henry, who has been on the trading block for virtually the entire offseason, could be completed "in the next few days or week." "The fact that we have an opportunity to acquire a running back [with] this kind of talent is something we have to look at, [and] so we're looking at it," Del Rio said. "This may or may not happen, but we're protecting our interests, and any time we think we can acquire somebody who can help us, we're going to do that." In their quest to add a proven tailback as an insurance policy in case star Fred Taylor might not be fully rehabilitated from knee surgery for the start of the regular season, the Jaguars have completed one crucial element in a potential acquisition of Henry. ESPN.com has confirmed that the Jaguars earlier this week eached agreement in principle with Henry on a multi-year contract extension. But the Jaguars are lagging in the second half of the equation, satisfying the price tag of Buffalo general manager Tom Donahoe, who has been seeking a third-round draft pick in return for the four-year veteran tailback. It is now believed that Tennessee, which has been trying to land a proven tailback to back up fragile starter Chris Brown, has offered the Bills a solid third-round pick. That pick, it is believed, includes no conditions. It is not known what Jacksonville has proposed to the Bills, and it's actually unclear whether the Jaguars have even made a formal offer. The Titans have not been able yet to reach a contract extension accord with Henry. Because Henry is entering the final year of his contract, with a scheduled base salary of $1.25 million for 2005, an extension is important. No team would want to deal for Henry and then have him depart as an unrestricted free agent next spring. Further complicating trade negotiations is that Tennessee general manager Floyd Reese is attending his son's wedding this weekend and could be unavailable for bargaining. A tough and determined inside runner, with a pair of 1,000-yard seasons, Henry is an attractive back for both teams, in part because of the injury problems of their current starters. Brown has missed considerable playing time in both his seasons with the Titans and is currently recovering from a broken hand suffered this spring. Taylor had knee surgery in the offseason to repair what he said were two torn ligaments. Del Rio said Thursday that Jaguars officials were encouraged this week by the progress Taylor has recently demonstrated, but acknowledged the veteran back will practice only once a day, likely in shorts, for the opening stages of training camp. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/stor..._len&id=2108553 I'm liking how this is developing!

It's amazing to me that Travis would prefer the more money scenario in Jack over the clear-starter scenario in Tenn. I guess so many of these guys talk about wanting to be "the man" on a team, or wanting to have the team be "their team," but when it comes right down to it, they just want the most money possible. And I agree...for the Bills, dealing him to Tenn would probably work out better come next years draft.

Ugh...those running toilets can be such a pain!

Now THAT is an interesting observation that has not been mentioned here before. Here's a question to spurn on some discussion...did the island pick Locke because he had lost the most of all the survivors (i.e. he would be the most accepting of being manipulated by the island)? Of all the survivors, his character appears to be the most open-minded. Maybe Sun could be too, and Rose, but John seems to have been the best candidate. Also, John had an issue (his legs) that could easily be addressed in order to buy his belief. Further...John's situation, with his legs and what his father had done to him, was essentially a done deal. He was pretty much at a status quo state. Compare that to the other survivors, who all seemed to have on-going and unresolved issues. Kate...being a fugitive. Sawyer...dealing with killing an innocent man. Jack...the recent death of his father. Charlie...his drug addiction. Sun...running away from her husband. Jin...Sun's father. Michael...dealing with having a son again. Walt...the death of his mother, gaining a father, and his realizing that he may have powers. Hurley...his curse. Sayid...ratting out his friend and looking for his love. Shannon and Boone...their interchangable issues of love and manipulation. Ah...it feels good to talk Lost again. I miss that damn show!

And Floyd Reese won't give up a 3rd for TH?
duey replied to Sound_n_Fury's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Don't worry...TD will get his 3rd for Travis, for the pure reason that teams like Tenn and Jack NEED a running back, while the Bills do not need to get rid of TH. -
House went to the Seahawks...and disappeared like all those other ill-advised free agent departures.

Ah...you've gotta love the enthusiasm of those newbies. All excited about posting to the point of f'ing the whole thing up!

A private secretary is someone who takes dictation (huh huh...I said dictation), makes copies, answers phones, etc. You won't need to wear your rubbers for this job, will you? (Def a different state-side meaning to that!) -
Amen to that, my brother.

Dude...she is way hot!!! One of the last Raymond episodes had her crawling around on her bed in a teddy. She looked OUT-FREAKING-STANDING!!!

[OT] Arrested for going topless in public!
duey replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well, obviously with a record like that, this man is a terrible menace to society. Disgusting. On a side note...in NYC, it's not illegal for women to be topless either. But what the police do is arrest the women for "creating a public disturbance." Maybe that's what happened with this misunderstood young man. So many people stopped to laugh at this rack that he created a public disturbance. -
Just a little jolt to wake up all the Lost-onians out there. I have absolutely nothing to say, other than I miss my show. I miss it very much. Actually, episode #7 is airing Wednesday at 10.
