Jeez Louise...I'm getting overwhelmed here. Say there is some sort of security system on the island of which the monster and the shark are parts...how about the system is designed to keep people from getting onto the island and disrupting the experiment? I still think that Locke was injured in an accident, caused by him freaking out over his dad, and in that accident Sarah dies. You see that Jack appears to cry when he says they got married. If the accident theory is true, that would further drive Jack and Locke apart (assuming they find out). How about this theory...that Jack is the focus of this entire story. We have to keep track of how all things tie into him. We already know that Sawyer ran into his father, and that Jack also ran into Desmond. And don't forget that the person Sarah killed in her car accident was Shannon's father. Three tie-ins that point to Jack. I am going to focus heavily on this theory as the weeks go on!

That's a good theory. I still see there being a massive hole in Locke's back story, with lots of info to fill in.

This team is much more of a playoff contender then it is a rebuilding project. Hence the pressure to win (and make the QB change).

I don't think everything that is going on on the island is attributable to the Dharma project. There's too much odd crap that has happened for it all to be related to a 1980's psych experiment.

You know...I thought the same thing, but couldn't figure out why that would be the case. He's been speaking Korean the entire time...why change to English in a dream. UConn's post about Jin going on that business trip to the US makes sense. Why would he be sent to give an important associate a gift if he could not speak English (assuming that the associate was American)? I think this guy is shrewd, and knew that he would have a big advantage over the rest of the survivors if he didn't let on that he knew English.

I think "the others" and the other 815 survivors are two separate groups. It looks like the other survivors have been living a pretty tough existence (Shaft looks like a Zulu warrior!), while the ones on the boat looked pretty healthy (plus they had a boat).

Right now, the Bills are essentially two weeks and two divisional wins from being in first place. We have a team that has quite a bit of talent (though they sure haven't been playing that way). Assuming that they can pull it together a bit, this team certainly is in the position to make a run at the division. This of course is faciliated by the coming-back-to-the-pack of the Pats and the Jets QB issues. Do you take this reasonably experienced and talented team, in theory a playoff contender, and tell them that the main goal of the season is to develop JP...at all costs? Or do you maintain that the main goal of the season is reaching the playoffs? I think at this juncture, given the fact that we could be in first place in the division if we win the next two games, you have to go with your best chance at winning. If after the next two games, we have either split or lost both, then you go back to JP and the develop game plan. If we do win the next two, and Kelly plays reasonably well, you stay the course and shoot for the playoffs. That's the bottom line folks...and that's what management is wrestling with right now. They certainly didn't think that JP would sh-- the bed like he has, 'cause you know they figured that we could be a contender with him running the show.

The other survivors look like they totally went the "Lord of the Flies" route, undoubtedly resulting from an assumed complete lack of food, supplies, etc. One also has to wonder if they have had on-going battles with The Others. Oh, and Puhonix, Bills 16 Fish 7.

And how the hell did they find this location for Station 3?

Previews are fair game for discussion in this thread. And as such, I have one thing to say. We saw something in the preview that I KNEW was the case since early last season...Jin can speak English! HA! Good for me. I think the father figure reference just meant that Locke hadn't had one, so coming back into his life would probably be pretty easy. And remember this...the dad pretty much knew that Locke could give him the kidney, meaning that it would be a match. If Locke was just some stranger that was scammed, there would be no guarantee that the kidney would be a match.

Unless I'm blind as a bat, I don't see a thread for this weeks episode? Are we all agog over the Sabres opening win? Is it the Bills QB controversy that has distracted us? Nevertheless, I'll get us going with some random observations. Pretty gripping episode, though I have to say that I was a little disappointed at a couple of things... Peg Bundy?!?!? Yikes. That one threw me completely off. Very upset that Jack caved and pushed the button. Shows me that he is slowly falling prey to the will of the island. Obviously Locke thinks he was meant to keep the countdown going, but Jack getting himself involved is a clear sign that he is breaking down. Now I wonder how long they are going to be caught up in hitting the button. Remembering Walt from last week..."Hit the button. All buttons aren't bad" or something to that effect I bet there is another button in there somewhere that does something very interesting. Michelle Rodriguez being a plant in the pit was too predictable. I do like the little dynamic that is developing between her (Cupcake) and Sawyer. Obviously they'll be getting off on beating the crap out of each other. Now my other thoughts... The film was made in 1980, in case anyone missed the credits. Good to confirm that the whole thing isn't associated with aliens. Wonder what the incident was? Is the electromagnetic anomaly that exists on the island the reason that the random boats, planes, etc. have made their way to the island? I keep thinking back about the reason for the Blackrock being there. I'm thinking this is the case...almost like a Bermude Triangle kind of thing. Maybe the electromagnetic force pulls you in if you have to get too close, and subtley tweaks the guidance systems of most others, keeping them away. Hugo when he sees the food..."Dude." I like Desmond...and obviously we're going to see him again. I'm glad he and Jack realized their connection...I think that is going to come into play at a latter point. Brother. Locke's father is such a dick. I can't believe that he just let Locke sit around outside his house every night...I would have called the cops.
