I thought the same thing...the "announcement" over the PA system preceeded the doors closing/food drop...it may be a warning of "incoming"...is it possible that this island has some sort of defense system, hence the "shoot downs" of planes, balloons etc...but then why wouldn't the supply plane be shot down as well?
