Its pretty obvious that TE, C, and back up QB are our biggest offensive needs, i'm just wondering where we can acquire said players and have them make an instant impact. Backup QB will obviously be a FA and not a draft pick, i currently like guys like Kittna, Batch, or Leftwich. As far as TE and C I'm not sure if we draft both sign one as a FA/trade and draft the other, or acquire both via FA/trade. The real question i think would be which position is more likel to be filled with a rookie and have that rookie be successful. I know thats based largely on the individual but certain positions like QB, WR often have a learning curve. I like guys like Gresham, Coffman, Pettigrew, and even Beckum at TE but we can't afford to wait for any development. Same can be said for Alex Mack or Unger at C; in addition i believe our 1st pick should be a DE so we would need to wait until rds 2 and 3 to fill the TE and C needs. If i had my preference i'd like us to sign Jason Brown of Baltimore at C, and then trade a 2nd to Cleveland for Winslow, or sign Owen Daniels as a RFA (i think Daniels would fit in better than Winslow, plus he;s more durable). Just curious how anyone else feels we can fix this mess!

Jermaine Gresham is a big, sure-handed TE.

i don't trust a rookie receiver, be it a TE or WR, to come in and be productive right away. If we can get Owen Daniels via RFA or trade a 2nd to the Browns for Winslow i'd prefer that -
i'd like him or owen daniels for a 2nd rounder, for all the talk of Coffman, Beckum, and Pettigrew i'd really be more comfortable with a vet. I think the whole Hardy thing biasedme
-
dansby will be way outof our price range, and brown is never healthy. I'd rather resign Crowell and have an open competition for SS between Scott and Wendling.

i didn't know donte whitner was on this board.

2009 Schedule is a killer.... 7-9 will be tough...

well as we're playing a lot of southern teams, there can't be any "interesting day weatherwise" excuses! -
usually i disagree with sullivan, as i'm a cup half full bills fan, but he nailed it today. I'm only 30, but in all my years as a bills fan i'd never gone into a season with as much disgust and revulsion towards a head coach. I'm just curious how this is going to be spun 1 year from now when we're 6-10.

HOF is great and all, but ralph needs to make sure his great, great, great, great, great, great , great , great grandchildren's trust fund is well stocked.

The Jauron question (and the answer I suspect)
lacoy38 replied to DazedandConfused's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
pat bowlen left 20 million on the table to fire a guy with 2 Super Bowl rings, old man wilson can't part with 4 million to cut loose a lame duck coach. I'm curious what do you think the chances of jauron returning would be had he not signed that deal in october and wilson not be on the hook money wise, would he be retained?? The sad thing is we all no the answer to that, and it makes me sick. -

they say its darkest just before the dawn, its pretty f***ing dark today!! Ralph truly is a cheapsskate among cheapskates, he's pretty much universally reviled now just so he could save like 4 or 5 million. Thats like having all my friends, co workers etc. hate me so i could save 50 bucks; but some people are billionaires for a reason i suppose. GO BILLS!! -
way too early to know anything, most teams rise and fall in the NFL so quickly judging a schedule this early or even at all is a waste; not every team is as consistent as the Bills 7-9 standard
-
First obviously we fire Jauron and hire Billick, if Marvin Lewis is let go in Cincy he could be our D Coordinator, if not i'd be inclined to keep Fewell. As far as OCs go i like Mary Morniwheg in Philly or Mariucci if he cares to leave NFL network. Step 2 JP, Royal, Crowell, Greer, etc all are allowed to leave. In addition we should cut Dockery and Chris Kelsay, Dockery for obvious reasons, and Kelsay, who is OK, simply because he is obscenely overpaid for being average. Step 3 With all the money we save throw a little at Peters to shut him up, then sign Terell Suggs from Baltimore, and a vet cast off like Kittna or Griese as backup QB. Also with the addition of Suggs we will go to a 3-4. Step 4 Trade down to mid-late 1st round and draft George Selvie, a hybrid DE/OLB, in the 2nd draft Alex Mack C from Cal, and with the additional pick from the tade draft Chase Coffman TE. After the first 2 rounds i'd like to see us load up on O-linemen, especially at G. 2009 line-up QB Edwards Kittna Hamdan RB Lynch Jackson FB Mcyntire WR Evans Parrish Hardy WR Reed Johnson TE Coffman Fine Shouman LT Peters Chambers LG Preston/Whittle/draft pick (open competition) C Mack Preston RG Butler draft pick RT Walker Chambers DE Schobel Ellis NT Stroud Williams DE Denney/Spencer Johnson OLB Suggs Bowen ILB Poz Digiorgio ILB Mitchell Digiorgio OLB Selvie Bowen CB McGee Youboty CB McKelvin Corner FS Whitner Simpson SS Scott Wendling P Moorman K Lindell May not be realistic, but sort of, i hope

that may have been one of the best trades since we got C. Bennett here. -
And with the 11th Pick in the 2009 NFL Draft
lacoy38 replied to Nightcrawler's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i'd trade down about 10-15 spots and pick up a 2nd rounder, then : 1 Selvie DE/OLB S Florida 2 Mack C Cal 3 Coffman TE Missouri -
poz is our leading tackler, does that define sucking. totally agreed on dockery though.

4 years ago when dj was fired by the bears it was b/c he wouldn't fire his offensive coordinator, or at least that was the official line; so if ralph asks him to do that he may just quit, i hope.

Let's hire Steve Spagnuolo as our next head coach.

i'm still too jaded after mularkey and williams, i want a proven winner, Billick would be a reasonable choice. -
agreed!! Trent may not be Jim Kelly circa 1991 right not, but he's the best we've had in years. Outside of that miserable 4 game slide he has protected the ball pretty well despite below average pass protection. He's sort of a game manager now, but thats how Roethlisberger and McNabb were there first couple years in the league. I say give him some slack, he's a smart kid who will continue to get better, until then we've got bigger fish to fry.

most important/valuable bills in 2009 and beyond

Another December of planning ways to improve the Bills instead of talking about playoff matchups; this is starting to get really old!! But on the bright side, since it is Christmas, which players are you most thankful we have, and furthermore if you had to rank them 1-10 in order of their signifigance to our franchise how would you go. My choices: 1. Lynch - he's the heart and soul of the team and in my opinion the best player. 2. McGee - kind of a darkhorse but he's consistently been good and only getting better. 3. Evans - can disappear at times but is the only offensive player who defenses have to game plan around. 4. McKelvin - a shut down corner in the making; plus with his return skills we 'll start at the 40 every drive. 5. Peters - kind of pissed us all off, but the talent, if he decides to play hard, is undeniable. 6. Edwards - i'm not completely convinced, especially b/c of injuries, but i think he is the most special Qb we've had since Kelly was here. 7. Stroud - i'd rank him even higher if he were a couple years younger. 8. Posluzny - very solid player who QBs the defense, should continue to get better. 9. Reed - the most underrated Bill BY FAR!!! Record w/ Reed & Trent in line-up 7-0 without 0-8 10. Whitner - short on big plays, but a leader. Honorable mention to: Moorman, Kyle Williams, Mitchell, and Parrish -
Normal Bills December - offseason predictions!

batch is ok but i'm willing to bet someone like Kittna, Garcia/Griese, Frerotte, etc. maybe released and play for a reasonable price. TJ is out of the question, great player but i don't see us spending that kind of money, plus i think Steve Johnson has a lot of potential. Suggs is too much money without a doubt, but signing Crowder would be a good move. The guy i want the most would be Matt Birk, watching all these 3-4 teams with Wilfork, Jenkins, Ferguson in the middle we need a serious upgrade at C. TE is another need but the only FA i know of is Kellen 'the soldier' Winslow and i don't see him fitting in; his ability to stay healthy makes Trent look like Favre!
