  1. Just hoping for some advice, ideas etc.. from those that have "been there done that" or who just have good ideas. Basically I have decided I want to work for myself and open some type of business or franchise. The immediate problems I need to overcome are no available down payment and lack of start up funds. (yes thats a big problem) If you were to start up a business (or franchise) for minimal starting expenses what would you pick and why? How did you go about it? any advice would be appreciated, thanks
  2. If (wait scratch that) When the state of California comes with their hands neatly opened and puppy dog eyes crying "woe is me, i'm the victim" to the federal government for a bailout, I very much hope the American people tell them to go swing on it and lay in the bed you made.
  3. wow thats a pretty short sighted attitude... a few problems with your logic. it takes 2 teams willing to make a deal, and the stakes are so high for the #1 overall pick it is very difficult to make a deal. really one guy doesn't make a difference? how about peyton manning? tom brady? these guys singlehandedly carry their teams. Have you ever seen Indy play with and without manning? the same team looks completly different by changing the QB. there are other ways to get more players. make trades. make good draft choices in rounds 2-7. sign free agents. put your scouts to work
  4. there is no guarantee that Luck will even declare
  5. The only problem is government does NOT create jobs. they can create a more business friendly atmosphere which will allow the private sector to expand and create jobs, but the government does not create jobs
  6. If nothing else out of this year if we can identify some of our good core players to build around then this season will have accomplished something
  7. No your right. I think the success rate for a high first round QB is somewhere around 60%. but, a mid-lower round QB has a success rate somewhere in the 5-15% range most likely becoming a "journey man" type player. are there exceptions to the rule? of course there are. (Brady / Romo /Warner) but, the vast majority of ELITE QB's have been taken with high picks
  8. It doesnt matter where those guys were drafted... follow my logic. If the Bills scouting staff has identified "QB X" as the next elite QB, wouldnt you want to ENSURE we get him? the only way to do so would be to draft him with #1 overall pick. Would you wait till our 2nd round pick at 33 because Mel Kiper said he should be available there? what about the idea to trade down to say #9 in the first round because you think "QB X" will still be around at 9. but alas when our pick comes up at 9 some other team has already realized the value of QB X and drafted him before our pick no we missed out. To spin this another way, think back to 2003. looking back would you have rather we traded up and gotten Phillip Rivers or Ben, or just been "happy enough" with JP ? how did that turn out? how many years did that set the organization back? Can excellent QB's be found in later rounds? sure. is it likely or practical to base the success of your franchise around doing so? no. If 7th round pick Tom Brady was to be re-drafted, where do you think he would be taken if we could re-do that draft? If the Bills are sold on "QB X" being the next big thing, they better do EVERYTHING within their power to secure such an important asset to the organization.
  9. dude chill... there are 8 games left on the schedule. the odds of the bills being winless are so slim
  10. I disagree. this is a QB driven league and the best teams have elite QB's. If you have the #1 overall pick you have a chance at selecting a special talent that will become a pro-bowler and solidfy your franchise for the next decade. If you want to address LB or OT with the 1st pick in the second round or heck, spend the rest of our picks on the line thats fine with me. Is fitz a serviceable QB? sure. Will he win you games? maybe. Fitz is a feel good story but he isn't the long term answer. Sure he is making this season exciting at least for the offense. But having that #1 pick is a rare opportunity to secure a rare commodity in this league. I want the next Peyton Manning / Drew Brees / Tom Brady / Aaron Rodgers. And if any QB in college right now has a chance to be a player on that level we better not miss with the #1 overall pick.
  11. there is a very real chance this might end up in overrrrrtime again
  12. I'm actually afraid we are going to win... i really want that top draft pick
  13. eeekk Fitz has 209 yds passing, is it physically possible for us to have 2, 300 yd passing games in the same season?!?!
  14. Nelson seems to have an ability to make big catches on 3rd down
  15. touche' I already have this game written off as a loss (in fact i hope we lose) but i need a little something to get me excited for next year! show me what Spiller Time can do. Spiller and Luck would be a great tandem next year
  16. I would like to see a little more Spiller Time
  17. I think this entire draft is going to be shaped by whether or not Luck declares
  18. no i didn't forget that but the odds of a team making a #1 draft trade deal are slim at best, its a huge move and not likely to happen.
  19. Thats a fair assesment. I have only seen a small amount of Luck so far this year and definately want to make a point to watch more of him this year before i form any type of firm opinions on him. hopefully he declares!
