Two starters? Fred Jackson is the starting RB on this team and Moats starting has not even been determined yet.

If there are any injuries this year to WRs, I'd much rather have Roosevelt filing in at WR than any of those others. Let's face it, our guys always get hurt! I'd find a way to keep him.

After Troup going on IR for the season I was just thinking back to how awful Nix's first draft was for this team... I mean it is really terrible. Spiller - hasn't produced enough at this point to justify the pick although a lot of upside here (best pick) Troup - IR for 2nd straight season Carrington - likely to be cut this year, never done anything as a Bill Easley - injured the entire time he has been on the team, likely to be cut Wang - trash Moats - should make the team (2nd best pick.. not saying much) Batten - likely to be cut Levi Brown - trash Calloway - trash After cuts we are likely to only have Spiller and Moats playing this year... what a disaster this was. Your thoughts?

I agree, I think a Franchise is a guy than can solidify the position on the team for 8 to 12+ years while playing at a high level and giving the team a chance to compete for a Championship. The team has no question who the guy is at QB each year and looks to build around him. Kelly, Marino, etc..

Yea I think the 11-5 Pats finish and not making the playoffs was a real bizarre scenario. 11-5 gets you a spot this year. It really is NE/Balt and the rest of them this year... I predict Pitt has a down year.

Wrong in so many ways. You would seriously take VY over Matt Barkley? Fitz / VY are not winning any Superbowls anytime soon. You absolutely need to find a QB that can turn this franchise around. First round RBs and CBs are not going to do it. (although Stephon wasn't a bad choice) You can always trade up to get your guy, which is what Washington did for RGIII. They realized what Buffalo still hasn't. You build a winner starting with your franchise QB.

Meh I wouldn't cut him but he does suck. I think Freddie Jackson would of had the same success on those run plays as Smith did... He didn't break a single big play at all last season. All we heard about was "he has big play potential and is a real weapon out there"... really? Smith is not a QB either. If Fitz and VY both got hurt, and he had to start - he would be the worst QB to start a game in the NFL in years if that happened. They would have to pick someone else up. But still, I wouldn't cut him since it doesn't make any sense. I do however think he really needs to earn his millions this year though.

It is still preseason, he hasn't taken a snap in a real football game yet... Neither has TJ.. There is nothing that we can compare at this point.

I think Fitz has the arm to throw deep but he doesn't really have great touch on his deep ball. Doesn't throw it out in front of his WRs enough for them to make a play on it. Still I'd rather him in there from VY.

Bad defense is still bad... linebackers are weak and corners too young/inexperienced. Dline can only do so much. Ryan Fitzpatrick is not a starting QB.

Now the talks of Merriman taking this defense to the "next level" can stop. I've said since he got to Buffalo that he was done. Give the younger guys a chance, less money and without the injuries.

they haven't been good in the regular season either in over a decade... so it is even sadder that they can't even look good even when the games don't count.

We will know at the end of this season that Fitz was battling through a rib injury sustained early in the first preseason game..... No worries guys he has a beard!

This team makes every opposing QB look like a stud... Ponder with a 135 rating. Blah blah it's only preseason.... happened a lot last year... and the decade before as well.

Luck is about as sure a thing as you are ever going to get out of the Draft. He should never be mentioned with Ryan Leaf... Also, Cassel didn't lead the Pats to the playoffs they missed that year he played. And to the OPs question, I would absolutely trade any 3 players for him off this team.. Some of you guys are way over valuing the players on this team.. They haven't made the playoffs ever and are as unproven as Luck is for the most part with the young guys...

Merriman is basically a good locker room guy and recruiter at this point of his career. I don't have high expectations for him this year. If he makes it to the bye week i'll be impressed.

The Pats will be no where near 8-8. Brady has a very quick release so I think the O-line issues are somewhat overblown. They drafted well and we will have to wait and see if those guys make a difference just like every other team in the league. They were in the Superbowl last year and have the best TE in the league. Brady is still in his prime and QB is the most important position in the game... I don't really understand everyone expecting them to just drop off. They have owned this division for a decade and someone is going to have a dethrone them for me to bet against them. 11-5 at worst but I'd call 12-4.
