While i dont disagree with you completely, theres also something to be said about the lack of pass rush by our HIGHLY PAID dline that only exploited our crappy secondary even more. Genos bombs dont occur if mario is in his face or puts him on his arse. Look at what the panthers secondary did to the giants' high octane passing game yeaterday. Scrubs looked like pro bowlers bc eli was on his arse all game. The key is always in the dline. Sure, coverage sacks can happen but in todays nfl good luck relying on coverage sacks. Our pass rush is too inconsistent. That being said, the jets had a perfect game plan yeaterday and made a lot of quick passes to counter pass rush and then geno made some great deep throws. Kudos to them.

Unfortunately I have to agree with your points. I was excited about the Marrone hiring, but I think most of us were concerned about the Hackett signing - and we're starting to see why. We're not playing college defenses; the likes of Rex Ryan, Bellichek and Harbaugh will tear this offense to shreds if we don't make changes.

Im not using the 10 dyays as an excuse. Its just common sense. An elite defensive coach with a very good defense having 3 extra days to gameplan vs an unexperienced coaching staff and a rookie QB is a recipe for disaster. I understand that the stat line doesn't represent the entire truth. However, the only stat line that matters from that game is the nearly 400 YDS RUSHING obtained by Syracuse vs. WV. Geno having 2TD and 0 INT and 200+yds was certainly average for his standards in college. I'm sure Geno will have an axe to grind for B-lo and Marrone passing him up. Can't wait for this matchup - I want to hear Jets fans cry for a week on WFAN.

Yup, that is a primary fear of mine. Though Geno isn't a running QB, he can easily rip off a 30yd run if he has a lane. Unlike some, I'm not liking this game at all. I hope I'm wrong, but we play like crap against Rex Ryan's Jets every damn season. Hopefully this year is when things change. It works both ways. this is going to be a really tough game for us that'll be a good test of the makeup of this team. 1. The Jets D is for real; 2. Rex Ryan and the Jets will have 10 days to prepare for us which is HUGE; 3. We always play poorly against the Jets (during the Ryan era). I see a 17-13 kind of game - either way.

I think the tone of this thread is that he's nowhere near being a playmaker. He's an average player; certainly not poor, but just average and perhaps trending down.
