Looks like we'll be drafting near the top 10 in 2014. Positional needs: OFFENSE QB: I'm quite fine going into next season with 1. EJ; 2. Thad; 3. Tuel. Thad is more than capable to come in and be serviceable for 1-2 games..IMO. RB: Spiller/Freddy are set. Bring in a younger RB than Choice considering both CJ and Freddy are banged up quite often. I wouuldn't mind drafting a RB really late in the draft like 6th round and taking a chance on a guy who's from a small school but with big upside. My pick: Antonio Andrews - Wester Kentucky. Beastly. 6th round. WR: I'm OK with Stevie/Woods/Goodwin as the main starters. BUT, this is only if we draft an elite TE high. Maybe draft a WR in the 4th round for depth/potential sleeper. TE: Chandler is a free agent in 2014 I believe. Seems like a great guy, but this is the ONE position we can make a huge splash in this draft and it'll have the biggest impact on this offense IMO. If we finish near top 10 in draft I would simply trade down to around 13 - 17 and pick up an extra second round pick. I don't care what player is near the top 10. If we can find a trading partner, trade down b/c the only player I care about for us in the 1st round is Jace Amaro. My pick: Jace Amaro - Texas Tech. Godly. Big and fast. Phenomenal receiving TE. Exactly what EJ needs to complete this offense. Our 1st round pick in 2014. OL: Woods/Glenn/Urbik are fine IMO. Even Pears is "OK". Nothing special..but not a real liability. Hopefully Hairston can make it back healthy next season. But for the draft, our second biggest need (IMO) is LG, and our first second round pick should be used to upgrade this position. My pick: Xavier Su'a Filo - UCLA. If he comes out (which he prob will since he's a bit older anyway) he's instantly an upgrade over Legursky (IMO). Defense DL: Though coming off of yesterday's game, it's not as easy to say this, I think we're absolutely set on the DL with Dareus, KW, MW, Bryant, Hughes. IMO, i would resign Branch and bring back Carrington (he's a FA no?) and this DL is set. LB: Kiko has been a monster and Lawson has been solid as well. Bradham/Moats are below average and shouldn't see the field much. Our second second round pick should be used to sure up the LB corps. My pick: Chris Borland - Wisconsin. This guy doesn't have the NFL "size" (5'11 240s) causing him to drop a bit. But anyone who sees this guy play on the field will admit that he's everywhere, always. Phenomenal instincts. CB: You can never have enough CB right? LOL. McKelvin has been playing better this season (finally) and Gilmore has not been living up to his high draft pick. Lets hope next year Gilmore will turn around much like mcKelvin has this season. We need another CB though in the first 3 rounds. Why? BECAUSE YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH CB. LOL. My pick: Aaron Colvin - Oklahoma. Good size and aggressive. Many say he's a bit overrated so I'm hoping he drops to the 3rd round, at which point he'd be a steal (IMO). S: A. Williams has made strides at safety this season. I like him there. Lets resign Byrd. Draft a safety in the 5th for depth. K: I actually like Carpenter and wouldn't mind if he came back. Very reliable. P: I wouldn't be opposed to drafting a punter in the 7th round. So as of December 2013, our best scenario for the 2014 draft would be: Round 1: Jace Amaro - TE Round 2: Xavier Su'a Filo - LG Round 2: Chris Borland - LB Round 3: Aaron Colvin - CB Round 4: WR Round 5: S Round 6: Antonio Andrews - RB Round 7: Punter

Dunno. My original reaction is "yes" i would root for them as if they were the bills. But, I really don't know how I would react long-term. If they moved to Boise and became the Boise Spuds with a giant potato on their helmet, it would definitely detract from my passion. But like many have stated: what would the alternative be? Follow the Giants? Rooting interests are developed as a child. I can't become passionate about another team as an adult. I can enjoy seeing certain teams play (Hawks, Saints, Ravens, etc) but the passion is not there. -
Titans were 6-10..that's far enough under .500 to be bad. Jags were worst team in NFL. Texans in AFC East may have not made playoffs. There's a reason why the Texans stroll through regular season year after year and then get HAMMERED in the playoffs year after year. 2 wins vs. Jags; split titans and split colts (at worst) - an AUTOMATIC 4 wins off the bat every season for past few years (except for this season). That division has been a 2-team division for years. There's a huge drop-off between colts/texans and the rest. neither miami, jets, bills have been as bad as the Jags.

Completely agree. EJ should not be a point of emphasis today. Stevie, Chandler, coaching, the defense, etc. should. -
Good post. 1. McKelvin has actually looked better than Gilmore (IMO). Granted, look how long it has taken McKelvin to come around...Hopefully next year will be Gilmore's year. 2. Glenn has been one of the better draft picks we've had in the last 5 years. You NEVER hear this guy's name - which is EXACTLY what you want from an O-lineman. 3. Stevie Johnson. One of my favorite players on the Bills. I truly believe some players have that "it" factor that enables them to elevate their play when it matters most; they are able to rise up to the moment. After so many years of watching Stevie, unfortunately, I don't think he has that quality. His inability to come through when it matters most has become a pattern and not just an isolated incident. That being said, there are plenty of other Bills players who also lack that "it" quality unfortunately. And that's why we are who we are. 4. I don't think EJ was awful at all. He had us in a position to win the game; made no turnovers (despite a close call or two); AND AGAIN, HAD US IN A POSITION TO WIN THE GAME - NOT ONCE, BUT TWICE. 5. I thought the same thing about Goodwin. Let the guy run out if he wants for crying out loud. The guy has blazing speed and might break one. I've seen that same move by summers probably a handful of times this season. I don't see it that much watching other teams. Those two are NOT on the same page. 6. I'm still not convinced on Hackett. I'm not. I'm sorry, but Hackett's playcalling has at BEST been above average at certain points this season while being PISS POOR the majority of games this season. No screens; no passing plays to CJ; always the same run-up-the-middle play call on 1st down; and then again on 2nd down; when he gets to the red zone he doesn't know what to do. We have a mobile QB for crying out loud - we should be that much more dangerous b/c of bootlegs; playactions; etc as a result of having a mobile QB. But we're not. Bc all we do is run up the middle 1st down; 2nd down; 7. Chandler has to go. I've said this for a little over a year now. He has to go. He tries. He doesn't run his mouth. He seems like a great guy. But he's a below average TE in the NFL. We can and must improve. EJ will flourish with a top talent at TE (IMO).

You think??? Imagine if we gave up on all qbs after less than a season of play.... This team needs help at the OL and needs a big fast TE. Improve those two areas and the offense will be much better. -

still feel disadvantaged bills with bye weeks?
bobobonators replied to gmanbfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Agreed. I've stated this before: the numbers show there is for the most part, ZERO advantage for teams coming off bye weeks across the NFL. -
Carpenter has actually been really good for us this season. Calling him out for this is pretty extreme (IMO).

LOLOLOLOL. The problem is is that there are ZERO "very winnable games" for a team like the bills. -
PLEASE, no more Toronto!
bobobonators replied to DallasBillsFan1's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree w/ OP. These Toronto games are brutal to watch. The stadium is always dark and the crowd is silent for the most part (actually seemed to have more Falcons fans than Bills fans today). Just a dreary feeling watching these Toronto games. Can't wait until it ends. -

Jets WR are horrible man. Santonio is 25% of what he used to be, not to mention that he has barely played this season (including not playing yesterday). Ask a Jets fan what they think of stone hands Hill. SJ is better than any of their WR right now. And Woods is well on his way to being better than any of their WR as well. Chandler is serviceable and Freddy/CJ are worlds apart from what they got at RB. Bills Offense personnel > Jets Offense personnel. Like other have mentioned, however, we have an OC that has been quite unimpressive with his creativity thus far - which is obviously a major factor in how the offense looks.
-
Good point. However, to counter: 3 of those 4 teams are thriving on the pass this season compared to the run (dolphins, saints, rams) and the 4th team is Brady. You could also argue that Geno's numbers yesterday were better than Brady's and Brees' vs. the Falcons, which is impressive any way you slice it. Fact is, you can't simply say "the falcons suck" and dismiss Geno's performance. It was Monday Night, in Atlanta, and a game that the falcons DESPERATELY needed. And Geno carved them up with who at WR?

New Pro Bowl Uniforms (Yikes!)
bobobonators replied to uncle flap's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I love the new-style unis and thus love the grey/neon yellow unis on the right. Doesn't look right though b/c they'd have the other team's helmet which clashes with the uniform. Would look sweet if the helmet matched the uni (obviously just talking about aesthetics and not functionality for the game). Even the white one looks sweet. Had to plug in Rutgers Uni that I loved. -
Geno Smith MNF - Falcons/Jets

Part of me feels the same way. I'm loving watching the Steelers, Ravens, Texans, Falcons, etc all struggling. WTF is espn going to talk about? -

There is always reason for concern with any injury. EJ's injury vs. the Browns was sheer stupidity on his part. I'd be more concerned if he was running and got injured on his own. I don't expect EJ to be taking those kinds of hits to his knee many times in the future. If ANY QB takes those kinds of hits to their knees, they'll eventually get injured. EJ to me isn't injury prone yet; he needs to be smarter. -

Geno Smith has more physical tools than Trent Edwards. There is no comparison.
