Marcell Dareus to the Pro Bowl
bobobonators replied to SBUffalo's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think kiko was kinda overhyped to be honest. Kiko had a great 1st half of the season and then was nowhere to be seen during the second half. Rookie wall I suppose. -
John Mackey had the build of a RB in today's NFL, that's the difference. Gronkowski, Graham, Davis, Cameron, Gates etc. are all taller, bigger, and yet just as fast. They're a complete matchup nightmare. In 2011, 5 of the 15 players in the NFL with the most receptions were TE's. That never happened before in the history of the NFL. In 2012, that figure was 3 TE's, and this year that figure was back down to only 1. However, a large part of the decline has been a result of Gronkowski being constantly injured, Hernandez getting arrested and Tony Gonzalez aging. Mackey was ahead of the curve in his day, but the evolution of the TE position in the passing game is certainly becoming more prominent in the NFL. This year there are a very good crop of TE's coming out of college and rest assured that they will be playing an important role in offenses around the league. I dunno. Reason I brought it up was b/c I don't remember Hackett using a TE much at all at Syracuse. Chandler led our team with receptions but our WR corps blew chunks this season.

Yeah, I dunno. I know ASJ had a DUI which is obviously bad but I personally look past isolated incidents like that. it would be different if the guy kept screwing up off the field. I agree with the way the TE position is utilized nowadays in the NFL, causing TE's to be drafted higher. However, I'm not sure how much value Hackett's system puts into TE's.

Ah, thanks man. I knew there had to be another one in there somewhere. Ya, I dunno. I know it's best to go BPA regardless of position. But I just don't see Ebron head and shoulders above Amaro or ASJ.
-
I'm not sure about Ebron at 9 guys. Is Ebron that much better than Amaro and/or ASJ? I dunno. I mean I like him, but I'm not sure I like him that much. In other words, I wouldn't be disappointed if we ended up with any of the top 3 TE's. We can technically trade down and still land 1 of the top 3 TE's. Also, other than Vernon Davis, has a TE ever been drafted in the top 10? Maybe I'm having a brain fart, but I can't think of one off the top of my head.

What Holes Does This Team Have?

Ya, Peyton Manning should not be utilized in an example pertaining to anything. He's on another planet. -

Don't bother man. It's all about speed. Makes you wonder why Bolt wasn't given a 100m contract to play DB yet. Or how TJ Graham can suck so much. -

Your post doesn't require refuting b/c it's beyond outlandish. There are plenty of 5'9 players in the NFL - it's something called TALENT. You obviously didn't have it. The fact that you wanted to play LT at 5'9 175 is laughable. Be realistic. You can "work" and "try" all you want but you don't have what it takes. Fact. There are PLENTY of CFL players with all the measurable of NFL players. What's the difference then? What's the difference between NFL players and CFL players? It goes beyond size/speed/strength. Ya, that counts too obviously, but you need all of it: football smarts, instincts, speed, strength, agility, work ethic, dedication. You disregard that and say "anyone can simply run with a WR". No, anyone can't. -
I'm actually in favor of removing the XP so long as it's done correctly. 1. Keep a TD at 6 points. 2. XP are no longer permitted. 3. You have to run a play after the TD to try and get 2 points. In essence, the XP will be permanently replaced by a 2 pt conversion attempt. That's how I would do it. It's fairly simple and really wouldn't change anything about the game other than the fact that a 7 point play would never exist again. It would either be a 6 point score or an 8 point score when scoring a TD.

Oh man, I think that would be my breaking point. I never understood why they don't simply incorporate advertisement during the game and reduce all the mandatory commercial timeouts. The game would flow so much smoother. For example, while the players are in the huddle, simply put up a Bud Light graphic on the TV or have a Toyota Tundra drive across the TV and run over Tom Brady in the huddle. In all seriousness, other countries do this with their sports broadcasting and I think it's an effective way to sneak in the advertisement without a mandatory commercial timeout. I understand the regular timeouts during the course of a game, but to have mandatory commercial timeouts makes me want to vomit.

Good for MD. -
This x1000000000. Of all the sports, nfl is by far the worst w commercials. One drive: Team x receives the ball. Commercial. Team x scores. Commercial. Team x kicks off. Commercial before team y starts. Sprinkle an occasional injury timeout or regular timeout and you could very well have 4-5 commercials within the duration of a team's single possession, with the drive itself only taking 2-3 minutes. Its mind-numbingly bad.

Well said. Saying we're a couple of players away from being the seahawks is a slap in the face to the hawks. They win and dominate defensively. We lose and get dominated. This has been a process for the hawks. They didnt become this good overnight, nor will we. -

Well said. My feelings for the most part. Its obvious he and crabtree had some kind of beef going on prior/during the game. He spoke his mind. Hes not running for president. This is football. Its supposed to entertain us. Its not bounty gate. Nobody got hurt. He didnt even curse once during his rant. Very PG13.
