Bills 1.5 Point Underdogs to KC
bobobonators replied to Casey D's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
This is my greatest fear about this game. Alex Smith and that offense will grind you to death and win time of possession. He's not going to drop back and sit there waiting for long pass routes b/c that offense relies on the short passing game which negates one of our greatest strengths - the pass rush. If I'm the Bills coaching staff I force Alex Smith to beat us and try to completely eliminate their run game - a tough task for sure - because if we can't stop their run game Alex Smith's dinks and dunks will be that much more effective and then it's a snowball effect with their grinding offense. Make Alex Smith try and consistently complete 3rd and longs as opposed to 3rd and shorts. If you look at the games the Chiefs have lost this season: vs Titans - Smith had 35 attempts vs Broncos - Smith had 42 attempts vs SF - Smith had 30 attempts Wins: vs Fins - Smith had 25 attempts vs Pats - Smith had 26 attempts vs SD - Smith had 28 attempts vs Rams - Smith had 29 attempts vs NJY - Smith had 31 attempts Granted, this is only one side of an entire picture, but you can see how you want Smith throwing the ball more to have a better chance of beating them. -
This is a circular conversation. If the premise is: Gailey knew how to run an offense more effectively with less talent than Hackett, what does W/L record have to do with it? We're not talking about Offense, ST and Defense, we're talking about offense and offensive play calling and nothing more.

Thoughts on who will coach Jets in 2015
bobobonators replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
From what I've heard from local radio shows - Cowher does not have an interest in coaching again unless it's the perfect situation. The Jets are far, far, far from that. -
Sorry if it was already mentioned - but can you pick the same team more than once? If you can't pick the same team more than once, I'd go with the following: Denver still plays oakland one more time - final week of the season. They also play St. Louis. I have no doubt they will absolutely destroy the Raiders this week after being embarrassed last night in prime time. Good NFL teams always bounce back after being embarrassed, I've observed. But I'd hold off on them this week b/c you still have 2 pretty easy games left on their schedule (Rams/Oakland again...Buffalo at home may also be easy..lol) Baltimore, much like Denver, was just embarrassed in prime time and they go back home (where they're really good) to play a poor Titans team. I'd be very comfortable with that pick and fully expect Baltimore to destroy the Titans in a bounce back game - plus, this game will be the last before their Bye week so you know they want to finish on a strong note. Looking at Baltimore's schedule, the only "gimmie" game i see is Vs. Jacksonville. Pittsburgh - they are just playing ridiculous right now. My greatest fear would be that they just can't keep this level up going into an away game @ NYJ which would precede a primetime match up vs. the Titans the following week. Partial trap game? Maybe but probably not. I can't see the Jets winning this game, but I can still see it being pretty close and Pitt maybe struggling a bit due to not being amp'd up. I'm confident in this matchup, but I'm not 100% locked. That being said, the only real "gimmie" game that Pitt has left after the NYJ is vs. Ten the following week in prime time. I would probably hold off for that w/Pitt. Cowgirls going to London. Honestly, the Cowboys w/o Romo look very very beatable. The Jags have played a lot of close games, but Jax sucks at epic proportions on Defense and are pretty damn bad against the run. I'd fully expect Murray to have 150+ yds with a couple of TD's this game and Weeden to only have 15-20 attempts and just manage the damn game and stay out of the way. This needs to be a bounce back game for the Cowboys. You look at Dallas - they don't have a single "gimmie" game after Jax. They play @ Giants, Philly, @ Chicago, @ Philly, Indy, @ Wash - that's a pretty tough schedule with 4 divisional games left - 3 of which are on the road. This may sound pretty damn ballsy and it's obviously not my money, but if you have to eventually pick the Cowboys at some point, then this week (even w/o Romo) may be the best week to pick them. Yes, the cowboys didn't look great this week, but they also played a really really good Cardinals team that has a great defense. The Jags are nowhere near the same level of competition. I also don't see it as a "trap" game b/c the Cowboys just lost and after the London game will be going into the Bye. Also, I fully expect that London game to have many more Cowboys fans than Jax fans so instead of being an actual road game, may sound more like a home game. So in sum: If you can go w/o picking the Cowboys again, I'd go with Baltimore this week. But if you have to pick the Cowboys at some point later on, this may be the week to do it. Good luck man.

Agreed. The Bills D was epically bad. From 2010 - 2012 the Bills D ranked 28th; 30th; and 26th in pts/game against. Unless you have an elite offense with an elite QB, you're not going to overcome that as a team no matter how creative you are on offense.

Assuming we do what we need to do this season and go at least 9-7: 1. The cleveland browns are all smoke and mirrors. They look pretty bad. We play them. I fully expect them to fall off as the season goes on. I don't see them as a factor for the playoffs. In addition to us, they still have to play @ Cincy; Indy; Cincy again; @Car and @Bal. I see them absolutely no better than 8-8. Considering how bad Hoyer is playing, probably more like 7-9. 2. The Texans losing is huge. We lost to them already. We can't finish tied with them. 3. The Chargers losing is huge. Nobody will catch the Broncos in the West IMO, so the chargers would've been a potential tie-breaker for a wild card spot. Let them continue falling apart. 4. Yeah Miami looked really really good. it's still that time of the year where they have perfect weather and they still have to play us again (who they always struggle against); @ Detroit; @ Denver; Baltimore; @ Patriots; and Minnesota (which is a decent team, IMO). Miami will be there until the end I feel, but if we're able to beat them 1 more time, it'll permanently set us apart, IMO. So after this week, I feel we're actually better off then we were last week b/c of the two teams in direct competition with us (SD/Hou) losing.

I'll add #7: 5 OL from the Gailey era are still on the team. Make it work Marrone. -
Sammy Watkins Rookie of the Month for October

I agree. SageAgainsttheMachine said that Benjamin's upside is Vincent Jackson whereas Sammy's upside is Fitzgerald and I think that's a great way to look at this - one will be elite and one will be great. -
EJ vs Orton (stat comparison)

If you can't understand the difference between the sports you just mentioned and an NFL QB then you need to think harder: What do bowling, darts and basketball all have in common? A stationary target. I can sit here and practice shooting into my garbage can all day 500x's a day and get really good at it - to the point where I could probably close my eyes and still get it in b/c it all becomes muscle memory. It's a completely different animal the second someone starts moving the garbage can on me. -
I don't know about the long term answer - if 2-3 years is long-term I'd say Orton may very well be good enough (and still young enough) to give us solid production for 2-3 years. The comparison people make to Fitz is a fair one, but at the same time Orton has a better arm than Fitz so that's a bit reassuring. Also, with Fitz, he always seemed to make that ONE critical mistake in a game that just screwed us over. I swear Fitz was an unlucky SOB many times. Orton appears to win despite his turnovers b/c he just keeps throwing it downfield. Fitz couldn't do that as well. This is still a small sample size for Orton in buffalo though but Orton has a better track record than Fitz did. Orton has already won in this league whereas Fitz had never won in this league. So at this point I'm more confident in Orton than I was with Fitz. At this point in time, Orton can become our younger version of Carson Palmer: A statue with a good arm on a team with weapons on offense and a great defense. They'll never be top 5-8 QB's in this league, but they're certainly good enough to win you 10 games.

wow, good stat. Is it too soon for me to bump the Cam Newton is a bust thread from 2 years ago? Cam Newton looked like a 3rd string QB yesterday.
